Congressional leaders on Tuesday evening reached a deal on a nearly $1.1 trillion spending package to keep the government funded.

Dubbed the “cromnibus,” the package includes 11 appropriations bills to fund most of the government through September 2015, and tacks on a continuing resolution to fund the Department of Homeland Security through February 27.

The bill was posted after 8 p.m. Tuesday. Passage of the bill would avert a shutdown, which appeared to be a possibility last month when conservatives demanded action to block President Obama’s executive orders on immigration. The delayed release of the funding bill will push the lame-duck schedule back, with lawmakers itching to wrap up work for the year and return home for the holidays.

Good news! We adverted a shut down! The nutty tea party conservatives wont take us down that road again.

Holidays are coming up. Gotta get their five week vacation in.

This Congress is gaining a lot of experience at governing from crisis to crisis. Now if they could just learn to govern like adults and not bratty children...

1.1 Trillion dollars and this only funds "most of the government". Also, I find it funny that you point fingers at the "nutty tea party conservatives" when at the end of the day, it wouldn't be them to shut down government, but instead Obama because he would veto it if it didn't have what he wanted.

Not to mention that Obama started it by issuing a executive order that even he admitted was illegal and knew that congress has only 2 options to hold him accountable for it, govt shutdown and impeachment.

You mean that Congress started it by not passing their own Immigration Reform before going on vacation July 31st until after the election.
Since they wouldn't take up Rubio's Dream Act.
Obama's mistake was not issuing the EO before the election .

Then you agree with legislative policy riders, such as ACA 14 months ago, that shut down the government.
Since this bill is full of policy riders and corporate giveaways.

And the only thing not funded until September is Homeland Security, due to childish righTEAs.
So your "most of the government" quote is dishonest to say the least .

It doesn't work like that. There is no provision in the constitution that if congress delays on various issues, that the president has authority over them. if congress doesn't pass reform, than nothing happens, and nothing should happen. what obama did was wrapped in the same concept as holding congress hostage and "make" them pass reform.

You are setting a new standard at bringing into the debate what does not matter to ignore what does. This was nothing more than a lame duck, get a deal done quickly, throw in some things that have nothing to do with government funding, and get the hell out of DC bill. This has nothing to do with the Tea Party.

However, buried in the bill is a real gift to Wall Street. Certain swaps are back. In exchange a few federal agencies like the SEC get larger than normal increases in departmental budgets. From my chair Wall Street bought a budget deal and lawmakers cashed in.

Are you kidding me? Since when is congress responsible for making the president's campaign promises come true? The list of things that congress did not do (or did incorrectly) is nearly endless but that does not give the POTUS the power to make new laws.

Good for Boehner! He kept the right wing from shooting the party in the foot once again.

Once again? Did you notice which party got it's ass handed to it and which one didn't, in the midterms?

The last time there was a FedGov shutdown, it was less than 20% of the total and it had little or no political backlash.

The question is will the Senate approve the bill? Or like so many others sent to the Senate will Reid reject it?

We're headed for 19 trillion in debt and no one seems to care. I think the only way that we can slow and stop this is to stop funding what we can't pay for. I say shut it down. Otherwise our politicians will just keep on spending money we don't have.

It's congress' prerogative whether or not to pass laws, so your logic is flawed. Besides, if you really believed that, you'd be blaming Obama for not passing the law when Democrats controlled both sides of the house.

I was just quoting the OP in regards to "most of the government being funded". Blame DemSocialist in that case.

Let me guess it was Obama's fault last time the government shutdown as well?

It was his fault he purposefully went out of his way to hurt americans to make the right look bad.

Yup it wasnt the guy who sat up there and read green eggs and ham because he didnt get his way over the ACA, it wasnt the people, or the party who wanted to defund the ACA and held the federal government hostage for it. Yup it was that DAMN OBAMA!!!

I didn't say it wasn't one. I simply pointed out the douchebag in chief out douched the republicans..... At the expense of the American people.

Took more guards to close the WWII memorial than it did to keep it open. That's an asshole move.

Welcome to consequences when you close the federal government, federal parks are closed.

Not quite true. The deal has been agreed to by leaders of both parties, and both sides have made compromises in order to get it to the floor. The actual Senate vote on it, once it passes the House, is going to be Thursday, and Ted Cruz says that there is a possibility that it will be filibustered. Stay tuned.

Seriously? so if the government has no money to run an open air pavillion, the thing to do is to send paying guards to keep people out of it?

glad to see you support jack bootery. lol

Come on man, you have to admit that was wrong to do.
