Satanic Temple display approved for Florida Capitol

I can understand the desire Satanists have to protest the birth of Christ, but it's a little pointless 2000 years after the fact. Just sayin'.

They don't give a damn about the mythical birth of a mythical Christ, they are protesting religious expression on public property.

Right. Another member put it quite accurately by characterizing them as the trolls of the religious sphere. :)

Only if, by troll, you mean "people raining on your parade".

No, it is very appropriate when, by troll, I mean petty instigators with nothing better to do than bait people and try to get reactions out of them. They're attention whores, as all trolls typically are. It's not my parade. My wife and I are agnostics. I do get a bit of a kick out of seeing people acting so butt-hurt as the "satanists" are doing over someone else's religion that they go out of their way to be as mischievous as possible. It's kind of like watching a little spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum right in the main aisle of the grocery store. :D

What do you think? Has "religious freedom" gone too far?

Some people don't think it should happen -- Satanists Win the Right to Place ‘Grossly Offensive’ Holiday Display Next to the Nativity Inside Florida’s Capitol

Anybody want to bet that some "real Amurrican" will deface or damage the display?

I know what i think . . . .

I think

dont care, all people that apply for a display should be granted (barring space and local lude/nudity laws etc) . . . . . if thats not the case then nobody gets a display

Satanists are your trolls of the religious sphere.

Really?
I thought it was those Westboro Baptist Church guys.
So many religions, so many trolls.

They might have a legal right to do so, but that doesn't make it any less childish. Satanists are your trolls of the religious sphere.

LOL There is no such thing as "Satanists". You do understand this is a stunt to emphasize the incorrectness of religious symbols on State or Federal property. Lose the Nativity and the "Satanism" goes away too. It is just like this children's school book....

Yes I suppose you are right..Satanism is a cult of filth..why ever would they be allowed to promote it to children?

Bible is all full of murder and rape and slaves...pretty filthy.

Satanist trolling for relevance is kind of funny actually.

Hey, they have the same right to put their phony god up as the christians do, or the muslims, or the mormons or the jainists, or whoever.

How about......we take all of them down, and start celebrating reason and logic?

There are millions upon millions of Christians in Florida and, what, a couple dozen satanists? Why shouldn't they get equal representation?<face palm>

I don't seem to recall the codicil in the First Amendment that allows for religious freedom, as long as your religion has enough members.

There are also millions who don't believe in God or religious symbols of any kind on State property. That is what these "Satanists" are really saying. Hint: This is about the Nativity not "Satanism" which is a made-up "religion" chosen to offend Christians as much as possible.

I don't either but let's be real. This has nothing to do with religious freedom. It's about common decency which I seriously doubt you would find in a satanic cult.

Let them have their display but let me exercise my right to call bull**** on the notion that it's purpose is anything other than to poke a stick in the eye of Christianity.

Religious freedom.... LMAO.

Correct, and in an oh-so tasteless way.

I find a Nativity on State property to be just as tasteless and offensive. It belongs on private or church property. I can't believe they are leaving the Nativity up next to a "Satanist" display. It makes a mockery of the whole thing. but it seems Christians are a pretty thick-headed bunch.

You find a Nativity scene as offensive as a satanic offering?

Your life must really suck.

Yeah those minority communities getting the same protections! We should make them bow to us and be second class citizens!

'Murica!

Don't allow yourself to be trolled, Jack. This thread was all about getting a reaction much like the satanic displays themselves. If they want to worship a pile of beer cans, let 'em.

Common decency? Yeah, because no one EVER killed anyone over christianity...
