Mike Ditka: 'I'm embarrassed for (Rams) players more than anything'

So if I can't sympathize with blatant racism because I am white, then how I am supposed to feel about it? Please, help me here. Apparently I don't know how to interpret my feelings.

That's a load of bull****.

I don't have a problem with the players taking a political stance but, as pointed out already, the symbolism they chose is false. This whole "hands up, don't shoot" gesture does not reflect the facts of the case. If people want to protest or take a stand, fine. But when that stance is based on a lie it can only serve to undermine the cause.

I don't know a single White person who thinks this way, mostly because I don't associate with racists. To be frank, the only place that I encounter direct racism like above is on DP and with the occasional interaction with strangers. Thank God.
Case in point. Refusing to look in the mirror at the common truth.

Sorry, I think the Rams little demonstration last Sunday is more embarrasing than the bad season Oakland is having.

Well, that's debatable. Losing to the Jets  in their opener was pretty damn awful.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, doesn't matter the skin color/sex/what have you. Just because he isn't black, doesn't mean he can't sympathize with the racial problems they face. He faces discrimination that they know nothing about. We have all felt discriminated against at one point in time or another, so we can all relate to how that feels.

Ditka's father was a Ukrainian coal miner in Pennsylvania. His original last name was pretty ugly so his father had to change it to an Anglicized name (Ditka). There's no reason to believe he didn't face some sort of discrimination in his youth, if nothing else.

So you've never encountered a single white person who is a racist? Ever?

So much for the theory that there's a systematic race issue in this country then.

I agree. He may not be black, but I am sure he knows how it feels to be discriminated against.

Dikta is a pretty horrible human being.

Even if he were/is, this doesn't mean he's wrong. But I think you're wrong if your objection is just an ad hom about who said it.
