Kennesaw City Council rejects mosque proposal

Church behind my house rings every hour and every half hour....

And yes, I have heard the call to prayer, I've been to a few muslim countries.

Complain to your town council if it bothers you. That's what folks around here did and they knocked off the noise.

The churches around here bang on their bells all the god damned time. So can we get rid of all the Christian churches too? Or is this just against Muslims?

No, you complain to the town or city council. And in the case of future churches you have the council make the noise abatement part of approval of any future plans. You seem from this and other threads to be clueless that local government exists.

With that kind of anti-American sentiment, you don't deserve freedom of (and from) religion.

Keep pushing for that christian theocracy....

Nah, let them " Mosque Up " in Kennesaw.

Isis needs more recruits anyway I'm sure.

Islam as a " Religion " is a stretch though.

It may have a Religious component but its actually Totalitarianism hiding behind the protection of " Religion ".

It is the objective of Sharia to take control over everything including Democratic Constitutional Republics.

It is a Geo-Political movement far more than its a " Religion ".

Ahh, is that how it goes? Interesting double standard.

No, that's not rational. Presumption of guilt based on religious identification is in direct opposition to everything this country was founded on.

Says the guy literally arguing an entire religion has no religious freedom because of hypothetical crimes.

The people express concern over Sharia Law being established in their neighborhood. Even you would bitch about that.

Georgia town bans mosque in controversial vote

This is an infringement on religious freedom. I don't see a rational reason why their request should be denied given the information presented.

It seems this is a thread for ASSumptions and allegations of nefarious doings.... nowhere have I seen that someone obtained and read the minutes of the council meeting.... to determine the true situ.

Well, I guess, it's not too surprising.

But y'all dance well together !

So, you are against the first amendment when it suits you?

Hypocrisy....You don't deserve freedom

Doesn't bother me, 40 years of it.

Were they posted with the OP? I must have missed them.

Well it did me and others in the neighborhood. We went to the Beaverton City Council and now, no more noise. That's kinda how it works locally.

I'd rather have the streetlights taken down, too much light pollution.

That's part of my point. They were not; leaving only possible incorrect assumptions and allegations to argue.

Great day to ya' C

another instance of "religious freedom for me but not for you guys"

They agree to every legal restriction the city attorney could come up with but their application was still rejected.

I so love the way "government spends too much of our money!" types seem to be willing to spend lots of money fighting losing causes based on religious and social beliefs.

Big, intrusive government sucks, huh?

Yep. If only those right-wingers would stop insisting on such a blatant violation of individual and religious liberty... but alas, they persist.

I'm glad to have you on our side, apdst.

Your side? You're on the big, intrusive, over-reaching government side. You wanted it...you got it.

One of these days, you people are going to learn that the government knife cuts both ways.

Oh, I see. You live in a black and white universe.

Send a postcard some time.

If the good people of Kennasaw wish to exclude Islamic worship, that is their right.

If they wished to exclude YOUR church, you would be fuming mad, like a hypocrite.

Which is exactly why Egypt should ban Christian churches. Christianity is a breeding ground for social degenerates. If the Egyptian people thought it was a possibility, why let those Christians in? **** religious freedom.
Social degenerates? Please explain that portion of your statement.

I actually have the ability to control my emotions, so no. I would of course be opposed to such an action, as to exclude the Catholic Church is contrary to the divine precept that all men join it.

So, you are for religious freedom....so long as it is your religion.

Nice dictatorship you have there. Get out of my country.

No. I'm for the right of communities to suppress practices that go against their social system, subject to the higher law of God. Religious freedom is a bad principle.

I'm not sure what you're going on about.
