Heart stent for Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg, 81

No kidding, but he'll never appoint another scalia. They're called confirmation hearings for a reason.

I'll say this again, a president doesn't make SCOTUS appointments, he or she nominates, big difference.

Again a stent will help with her breathing but that is all....To get further relief she needs a bypass but they probably won't do one because of her age.

A stint has nothing to do with breathing. A stint opens a blocked artery for blood flow.

A stint has nothing to do with arterial repair - a stent does.

wtf does the senate have to do with replacing ginsburg? He *must* appoint a new justice and will do so just as surely as every other president. This belongs in CT

He may very well appoint one but that does mean he or she will be confirmed......You ever hear of Robert Boark?

Do you understand the selection process? The president nominates who he wants and the Senate approves the nomination...A Conservative senate will never approve a liberal candidate submitted by Obama.

Of course I understand the selection process. Do you? How many republicans voted to confirm Ginsburg? What makes you think a vote for her replacement would be any different?

When did Obama become a liberal? I thought you right wingers all said he was Bush II. ???

Can't be Bush Lite, that would be copyright infringement on Bush Beer.

Obama has always been a Liberal..He pretended he wasn't but he fooled no Conservatives.

When Ginsburg was nominated the Senate was controlled by Dems...It won't be that way come January...

If she does step down....Obama WILL appoint her replacement. The senate can't reject every nominee. I would suspect if they reject one, Obama will respond with a true liberal. Knowing that....they likely would confirm his appointment.

She got 96 votes, 3 nos and 1 no vote. Doubt you will see that again for a long time.

I wonder what Ginsburg will do. Will she just hang in there as long as she can? She could live to 100, and I doubt Obama would get a judge as liberal as her through again. He already got two in, but he'd have to go with someone who at least upholds the Constitution once in a while this time.
I'd guess she'll stay as long as possible, it this situation.

This is why i referred to it as appointment rather than nomination. The right wingers are trying to mince words as if it won't be obama's decision somehow and that will lead to an end to roe v wade and SSM, and all citizens will be required to carry a gun on their hip at all times.

Oh Puh-lease.....if you think Obama is a liberal you don't know what a liberal is. Obama has always been a centrist. We knew that coming into this.

81 is too old for a Justice of the SCOTUS. 80 should be the mandatory retirement age, IMO.

It surprises me that many 'normal' Americans are forced/urged to retire around 65.

Yet an American holding down an EXTREMELY important position can go on virtually indefinitely.

Using a coded obscenity can't help your silly statements, any more than adding a lot of hot pepper can help a dish when it's made from rotten ingredients. Do you really not know that the President is to appoint Supreme Court justices "by and with the advice and consent of the Senate?" See Art. II, sec. 2, cl. 2. Leftists started the practice of rejecting nominees to the Court purely on ideological grounds when they savaged Judge Robert Bork, one of the most highly qualified nominees there has ever been. They tried to pull the same dirty tricks on Clarence Thomas, and nearly succeeded.

Two can play at that game, as our would-be king will find out if Justice Ginsburg retires while he is still disgracing the presidency. I hope that for the next two years, the Senate will reject any nominee for any office who is not completely acceptable to conservatives. As Mr. Obama himself said, elections have consequences.

Ginsburg's views as well though-out and reasoned as any other Leftists': Marx, Lenin, Mao, and Ho Chi Minh.

I don't agree with almost of their views however.
