Cleveland boy with fake pistol killed by police

Re: The next Ferguson ?

What else can one infer when a person suggest that something which looks like a gun is fake? Are we to infer that he think it's not fake and not a toy?
Can YOU tell that is a 'fake' gun? Be honest. And no...he didnt say it LOOKED fake.

Re: The next Ferguson ?

Its not about being black. Or about being a cop. Its about prejudice. Its about assigning characteristics to an entire race or profession based on the actions of a minority. Its bigoted. Its...what you are doing.

It is not about prejudice just because you claim that it is... sorry, I have not condemned ALL cops...

Unless they say what you fits your bias. Amiright?

Nope... but aren't you the arrogant and disrespectful one.

Re: The next Ferguson ?

Actually several states have already closed that airsoft loophole, in fact because of this incident looks like Ohio will soon follow suit.

In wake of Cleveland boy's shooting death, Ohio lawmaker to introduce legislation requiring that BB guns, air guns be brightly colored | cleveland.com

Now that you've realized that your initial claim was wrong, how long will it take for you to admit it? I'll wait.

Then they are blind or lying. You've seen the "toy" up close, and they saw it from farther away. Be honest with yourself and us, could you tell the difference?

To be honest? Given the environment of a 12 year old kid, in a playground, where kids play rough and make each other scream? I would have afforded him the benefit of the doubt and tried to get a few words out of the boy before making any decision.

Re: The next Ferguson ?

So, alright then we've established that the witnesses who called it all in realized there was a possibility that it was fake and he was wrong. The police arrived at a playground, with kids playing and encountered this 12 year old. What about that scenario seemed out of place? Do kids not bring toy guns to a playground? Did they see the gun being pulled out and quickly determined it wasn't real? What specifically warranted them to use aggressive force towards someone who wasn't being verbal or aggressive towards them?
Read the police comments. They arrived on the scene, witnessed him putting the gun in his waistband. They approached him and ordered him to raise his hands. He instead raised his shirt and reached for the weapon tucked into his waistband. The officer then fired two shots.

Thats the report. If thats how it went down, there is no question it is a good shoot.

Every properly raised 12 year does not act like a perfect little angel all the time. You ever been around them?

Cephus is silly in how he sees things... there is his way and that is it.

Nope... but aren't you the arrogant and disrespectful one.
Of COURSE You do. You use your obvious hatred of cops to prejudge THIS incident and the officers. You are a bigot. Its OK...its a free country. You have the right to be even that.

Edit added: Arrogant...yeah...I have been accused of that before...sure.

So, with all your years of law enforcement training and experience, can you say without a doubt that you would have reacted differently?

"If that's how it went down"? Ever heard of the term "self-serving"?

What I can and can't tell is irrelevant. The suggestion was made and I believe the cops didn't take it into consideration at worst and at best it was never relayed to them. A fake gun imitation in a playground? That doesn't like a scenario that would too far fetched in any American playground. Hell, I remember when toy guns didn't even have those orange tips and people weren't afraid of being shot because of it. What changed? Has there been a spike in police officer deaths by 12 year olds?

Re: The next Ferguson ?

I seriously doubt anyone could punish this cop any more than he will punish himself.

The caller did NOT say it 'looked' fake, he said it was 'probably'. Thats a judgment assessment. He had no way of knowing, any more so than YOU, nor any more so than the responding officers. They saw the gun. You wont admit what is an obvious fact. There is NO WAY 'you' could look at that from ANY distance and determine it to be fake. You at least have the integrity to not lie about that. I applaud you for it.

Full Definition of BIGOT
: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Bigot - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Not only are you using it out of context it doesn't even apply to me for the first part. I don't expect that you will be able to understand the nuances but will you please at least try?

Why do my years of law enforcement mean anything? There isn't anybody here outside of Goshin who has any law enforcement experience. Do you? Can you discuss the issue without being a law enforcement agent? What else can we use your ridiculous standard for? Can we exclude you from conversations on net neutrality because of your status as a blue collar worker and general ignorance of technology? Move along apdst, you've got nothing to argue here.

Sure. And you will note from the VERY first time I posted in this...IF that is how it went down then it is a good shoot. Right now...thats all we know. Thats all YOU know.

It absolutely applies to you. You have no hesitation to pronounce your prejudgment on cops based on your belief system about cops. Its OK...you have the right. Go with it.

I hear you. Why can't some of these others? What makes more sense... that the kid was confronted by armed cops with guns pointed at him and he thought that he would make a play of his TOY gun or that they confronted him and he went to show them it was a TOY but didn't do so in the best manner and was shot dead for it by some scared little chicken **** cops (not all cops, just these bitches)?

No, I don't have law enforcement, but I'm not saying these guys are absolutely in the wrong. If you're so certain they were wrong, surely you have the training and experience to assure us that you could have done better. How many shoitouts have you been in?

Cops that shoot innocent people before attempting to find a positive solution, yes...

...but I can clearly see that I am dealing with a very dim bulb so I will let you have the last word. Make it a good one!

Re: The next Ferguson ?

WRONG. They did not because it WAS NOT A GUN.

That's really the thing here isn't it? If it looks like a gun, it is a gun and the actions are justified because the kid is no longer innocent. If a person is honest enough to admit that there was never a gun, and the cops acted to one degree or another precociously, they shot an innocent child and the kid is a victim. That's really the problem here. Reluctance to admit that this was just a kid, in playground, with what in any other setting would have been considered a toy by reasonable adults. If they admit that, they then have to admit that their defense is just meant to make the police feel safe as opposed to police making citizens feel safe.

Okay, it's not against the law in this case to sell these guns without an orange tip in Ohio. I thought it was and I was wrong. Doesn't validate a single one of your arguments here that I was wrong about that.

You mean BEFORE he reached for that thing you won't admit looks just like a real gun, right? Not what I asked, and your attempt to weasel out of the question is transparent.

Then you shouldn't discuss the issue either. Move along, apdst. :)
