Time. Person of the Year. How that can happen again?

Didn't Hitler also once win the Time Magazine's person of the year award?

You can still be a moronic inferior subhuman and win that "Award" you know.

I remember when Time magazine was a major publication.

I'm not surprised, when it is all said and done Putin will probably win the vote.

Time's person of the year isn't about who is the best person it is about who makes the most news. That could be in a good or bad way, it doesn't matter it just about who is most reported on.
It is not, nor should it ever be considered an endorsement or approval of the person named.

The title "Man of the Year" is probably the wrong title, as it sounds like an "Award".... its not an award.

Time's "Man of the Year" is the single person that best personifies the events of the year. When Hitler's army was marching through Europe, Hitler pretty much personified the events of that year (or, more accurately, years).

Mitch McConnell would be a good candidate for "Man of the Year" as he 1) had to fight a serious fight (for awhile anyway) for his seat AND, leads the change of control of the Senate. He seems to well sum up the politics of 2014.

He almost restarted the cold war.

I'm actually debating now whether I would vote for Putin over moronconnell.

Since when did an internet poll decide POTY?

Vladimir the Terrible is leading again. How's that possible???

He even overtakes Ebola doctors and Malala.

Hurry up to vote for anyone else.

Who Is Winning TIME's Person of the Year Poll?

Pretty much every year Time decides on the Man of the Year, a good chunk of the population misunderstands that the Man of the Year isn't decided on who did the best for the world, but who affected history the most strongly...for better or worse.

Remember when the Time person of the year was us ?

Man they've gone down hill

I'm surprised to see Modi there and doing quite well in the poll.

Malala being beat isn't surprising to me, honestly. In reality, she hasn't done much.

Putin's been putting on a show, the biggest one around, so.....of course he wins. It's not really some seal off approval for his actions.

why do we have to have this same discussion every year?

ok, one more time :

PERSON OF THE YEAR IS NOT AN AWARD OR AN HONOR. IT IS THE PERSON WHO IN THE LAST TWELVE MONTHS HAS MOST AFFECTED THE COURSE OF HISTORY, FOR GOOD OR ILL.

ok. now i can just link this post every year instead of having to explain it next year when some other controversial ****head is POTY.

why do we have to have this same discussion every year?

And we haven't even had our annual round of "War on Christmas" threads yet.
