Time. Person of the Year. How that can happen again?

And we haven't even had our annual round of "War on Christmas" threads yet.

they are certainly late, considering that the stores put up their Christmas stuff well before Halloween.

The title "Man of the Year" is probably the wrong title, as it sounds like an "Award".... its not an award.

Time's "Man of the Year" is the single person that best personifies the events of the year. When Hitler's army was marching through Europe, Hitler pretty much personified the events of that year (or, more accurately, years).

Mitch McConnell would be a good candidate for "Man of the Year" as he 1) had to fight a serious fight (for awhile anyway) for his seat AND, leads the change of control of the Senate. He seems to well sum up the politics of 2014.

Laugh if you will, but I actually already thought that about McConnell.

Not that Putin isn't terribly newsworthy and personifies the events of 2014, but I think McConnell does even more.

Putin took Crimea while McConnell only took the Senate.

If someone offered me Crimea or the Senate of the USA, I'd take the latter.

I don't know, the Senate has Harry Reid in it and a bunch of other leftwing dolts.

Crimea only has sheep and chickens. Which are naturally more intelligent than Harry, and far less obsessed with the Koch Brothers too.

Vladimir the Terrible is leading again. How's that possible???

He even overtakes Ebola doctors and Malala.

Hurry up to vote for anyone else.

Who Is Winning TIME's Person of the Year Poll?

OMG...

I wish someone would go to the Time website and read what the "Person of the Year" means. It has nothing to do with good and evil, whether it's right or left, but who made the most impact on society that year. Hitler made here three times, Churchill four I think as well as Barrack Obama, the Beatles and Ed Sullivan.

I go along with this trend. In Europe and Canada Putin has been major news, he invaded Crimea and Ukraine, the first European invasion since WWII...and got away with it!

If anything, his appearance might wake up some people to the real threat in this world.

Sheep and chickens are worth a hell of a lot more than all the politicians in Washington combined let alone the senate.

The polls are useless they don't matter. It's probably a big joke inside the TIME offices. They already know who they are going to choose. I'm guessing Ebola Doctors and Nurses. maybe Musk. This is like the school questions, pick and choose what doesn't belong.

In that case Obama got a Nobel Prize right taking the oath, so I guess the Nobel Prize means the opposite of Time's Person of the Year.

In this case yep.

The whole Nobel thing is political. One need only look at the 1940's, when Mahatma Ghandi was shaming the world with his peaceful revolution, the world stood in awe as his people were slaughtered by the British and yet did not retaliate. He was nominated three times and rejected because he was a "silly little man in Pajamas"...and colored.

Anyone who thinks Obama's image making machinery was NOT hot on that is, frankly, ignorant. I suspect a few million changed hands.

On the plus side, neither Mohammad B. Hussein Obama nor Hillary "the butcher of Benghazi" Clinton is on the list.

But then again, it's not too amazing since almost any news about them would be bad and Liberal media just doesn't report very much that is bad about them.

Didn't Hitler also once win the Time Magazine's person of the year award?
Yes, in 1938. Stalin in 1939 and 1942. Khrushchev in 1957. Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.

Putin certainly fits in well with the above notables.
