Republicans weigh government shutdown to stop Obama on immigration

And how to find a specific person out of a crowd is difficult.

No, it is not. What is the first thing a police officer asks for when they pull you over? What is the first thing asked for when you open a bank account, cash a check, do any of a number of things? ID.

Laws like Arizona's sb-17 make all Latinos suspect in the eyes of law enforcement.

???

Are you suggesting the feds should apply AZ laws when they are enforcing federal laws?

It does matter with regards to deporting families.

why?

did someone force them to come here?

this is about choice......their choice

they are breaking the law.....if separation is the end result of that, they have no one to blame but themselves

And guess who is the most likely candidate to be pulled over by police in the border states? Here is a hint: Latinos.

Which is totally unnecessary when the Executive Branch does it's job. But if you're a citizen who is latino standing in a crowd of latino illegals, you can expect to be IDed.

Republicans weigh government shutdown to stop Obama on immigration

In contrast, last time the GOP shut down the government:

Poll: Major damage to GOP after shutdown, and broad dissatisfaction with government - The Washington Post

Polls: Shutdown nightmare for Republicans - Tal Kopan - POLITICO.com
Poll shows Republicans taking blame for government shutdown - Los Angeles Times
Boomerang! Poll Reveals GOP's Government Shutdown Bolstered Obamacare's Popularity By 20% - Forbes
Poll: Government Shutdown Damages GOP - Business Insider

I'm sure that this time, a government shutdown will be positive for the GOPs image. Flight attendants, PR appointees and HS students will support this and it will give the GOP an even bigger majority in 2016. Using the shutdown option will also bring in support from Independents. They seem to be in favor of such things.
It seems that when the Republicans (a few of them anyways) stand on principle we gain seats in the House and Senate. We need to send many small bills to The One on the golf course. We need not fund the Left's pet projects. let him veto the budget bills and send the government busybodies home.

Maybe because you don't understand that these people do not have the luxury of time.

my wife is a LEGAL alien....who became a citizen five years ago

it took her nine years to get here, and she had a sponsor

why would i look at anyone else differently?

yes....the system needs repair.....but breaking the law isnt the answer

Not what I said. We're talking about people who break the law. What it does to their families isn't relevant when applying the law. If I murdered my neighbor, I should get punished, regardless of how much my kids would be upset by not having me around.

Duh! C'mon, if you're not going to educate yourself on the issues, at least do a little thinking. And btw, the most likely candidate for being pulled over in Arizona, just like everywhere else, are the ones who just broke traffic law, have beat up barely functional vehicles or are acting very suspiciously. And, especially in southern AZ, when looking for illegal border crossers, they're not likely to be any other race.

No.

I am againist laws that gives power to bigots who would use the law as an excuse to discriminate againist other people.

You just described every law on the books. Bigots will be bigots, the law has nothing to do with that.

How do you explain that to a family from el salvidor, guatamala or Honduras? What can you say to someone who has fled one of those violent countries, carrying what little valuables they can haul, traveled hundreds of miles to get away, and is desperate to find a better life for his or her family? What if they have no options left if they cannot get in?

Then why did you mention AZ? Or, do you think the federal laws will discriminate as well?

The problem is that there are some people that see Latinos and suspect them of acting suspiciously in any given circumstances.

Ahh, don't know what you're talking about so you fall back on the sally Struthers routine (what about the children!).

That's not a matter of law and enforcement. What you've just described are bigots being bigots.

we cant fix the world.....

nor take in all that want to come.......

sorry...but that is the truth

hell....there are millions in africa that would give everything they have to come here

we have a system....a broken system....but it does somewhat work

i tell them to bide their time, and do the right thing

i dont tell them to break the law

I stand for treating the refugees humanly.

I don't know who are illiegals you want to deport but until you can identify them as being separate from the refugees, then I have to assume you mean to deport all illiegals regardless of circumstance.

The USA is the only country of refuge?
