US hostage Kassig 'killed by IS'

As already noted, been there, done that.

Clearly you're tough. At least your mouth is. Suit up put your body where your tough talk is.

Sadly, I'm now too old for active service. I did that for nearly 34 years. I've already named most of the conflict theaters in another post so I won't belabor the point. I don't normally bring up such things, but you should be careful whom you challenge to "suit up." Some of us have done that a lot.

He's not dragging his feet. His bombing the crap out of them. War is on the congress' plate. If you can take off your partisan pants once in a while you could see this.

His bombing is a dog and pony show, intended to make it seem as if he's doing something while mitigating his risk. Obama could send a force today if he wanted. But Obama does not want to be "that" guy.

Politics over terrorism, thats what Obama does.

I'd prefer Utica Kobie.

Have fun! The brewery tour is a good time. There's plenty of good restaurants, but sadly not much else. There's a halfway decent casino about a half-hour from there though. Try the buffet!

The interwebz is great for a persona aint it?

I dont gamble. Except maybe on women. Women and vintage guitars.

I believe I recall Hamas going through this too. They are beloved in their region because they provide medical services and all other sorts of public services and when anyone else steps up to help the people, they step in and shut it down.

Producing public goods or works conveys legitimacy.

I am fine letting it spread to all of the middle east. Getting us out is the best idea. I doubt they will ever attack us outside from small terror attacks, which we already have.
But if we do go back, it has to be to end it.

I agree. We need to go in full force in Iraq and Syria, wipe out ISIL then take out Assad with the help of Turkey. End it all! Split Iraq into 3 separate nations, maintain a perpetual force in all 4 countries. It is the only way.

And for the love of all that is decent and ****ing holy, the U.S. would not have been able to do so without giving up immunity.

To which Obama would have been savaged (correctly) by the Right for letting the incompetent and corrupt Iraqi judicial system have control.

You can tell who is an extreme partisan by how they view the SOFA discussions.

Obama literally does the same thing Bush does and it's not okay, but nary any criticism for Bush.

IMO, Bush and Obama did the right thing by not putting our servicemen in the hands of the Iraqi Judiciary System.

And sustain lots of casualties and expose our military to more terrorist attacks in the decades to come? No, that is not the only way. If you want attacks on Americans to stop then the easiest and best way is to withdraw from the Middle East and let them sort their own problems out- our country is teetering on recession and we cannot afford to be the policeman of the world in order to prop up the oil and military industrial complexes.

We broke it so we need to fix it!

Yes, but what we are doing now--the bombings--is not getting the job done!

I agree-but our President does not care. He could act if he wanted to-but he doesn't want to. He would seriously rather let things go as they are if it means he can get out of office without doing anything substantive. In the mean time, a few token airstrikes (with low risk to our pilots but high visibility on the news) are just about what he wants.

I disagree. I think Obama is, at heart, a pacifist and truly does not want to see our young people back in another war. But it has to be done, IMO. It is only going to get worse if we don't take the bull by the horns

If he was a pacifist he wouldnt have been so swift to arms in Syria and Libya. I dont think he wants war-but thats because he wanted getting out of Iraq to be his legacy (and the ACA). He pulled out to try to keep that image, but look at what that got us-now we have the crap choice of sitting by and watching ISIS grow (killing and raping children as they do) or going back in-and the cherry on top is the longer we wait the worse it will get.

Obama's strategy appears to be working well. In case you haven't noticed, ISIS is pretty much being defeated.

I don't know what bull he should be taking by the horns. No point in sending American ground forces when the locals are getting the job done with the aid of a few airstrikes. ISIS was never a formidable foe, it was all media hype.

He doesn't seem to be much of anything. He will wear whatever hat he feels is necessary at the moment but there really is no 'there' there.

Note his response when two Americans were among the five worshipers recently murdered by a Palestinian terrorists . Obama said the usual bromides he thinks is expected of him, and as though he is speaking wisdom, when in fact it was one lie after another.

The fact is that nothing more can be expected from this man for the next two years. With the base Obama left them in the Middle East it can only give confidence to the Islamists, as well as to whoever wants to join them, and we will see terrorism continue to grow throughout the world as a result.

Yeah, they are all JayVees, right? No Americans beheaded, no Christians butchered, women raped and sold or men boys beheaded. Its all lies and hype designed to make Dear Leader look bad.

W was somehow both an idiot and an evil mastermind who even 6 years on baffles dems. :lamo

I know right....It really is quite amusing to hear them say that W struggled to tie his own shoes, then in the same post, argue that Obama, the smartest man on the planet is stymied with hands tied on how to do things because of W....

Laughably pathetic.

It's a very small force. They seemed to be overwhelming, but only because the Iraqi military was so pathetic, and because the Iraqi people failed to initially fight them.

I never suggested that ISIS isn't evil, only that they aren't a formidable foe. As far as "Dear Leader", I didn't know that North Korea was involved. If you are implying that they are making Obama look bad, I really don't know where you are getting that from, when his strategy is clearly working - ISIS is rapidly becoming ISWAS.

It seems Dear Leader wasn't aware that the Iraqi army was not prepared to defend Iraq, despite declaring it 'stable'. The military told him, the CIA told him, and the previous administration told him that this was the case but DL never was able to sufficiently able to digest the message.

Obama has a strategy? When did he develop that? What is it?? Does it involve Iran and Saudi Arabia? Israel?
