GOP seizes Senate

I think it beats hope and change, but lets find out together.
My predictions are: there will be no hope or change. Just impeachment proceedings, but I hope I'm wrong and that the GOP will try to work on issues.

There will be no impeachment proceedings unless the President goes completely off the rails with immigration, and even then, they'll likely go to the courts...

Nobody seriously thinks things will change significantly because of this, do they?

They will likely change proportionately to the 20/535 change in congress critter personnel that we will soon experience. ;)

Does one expect a vast difference in service due to personnel rotation at a given McDonald's?

You would really have to see the Republican leadership do a 180 to even consider that. I'm sorry, but this is paranoid fantasy.

To a lot of people--no. To those who accept what limited changes are brought by a more unified Congress, this is consequential.

that's a contender for the hall of fame of silly posts. Rich democrats pander to the working class (btw medical interns, and first year associates at major league law firms work hours that would kill most of the Unionista "alleged working class" types) when in reality they do everything possible to keep those people mired where they are

A view of working people from the right, everyone but the truly wealthy are beasts of burden who will become lazy if they aren’t prodded. If they can’t work, don’t feed them. If the missing pieces separating them from the ability to survive with what they already have are a coverage guarantee and a premium tax credit, it should be denied to them. If they’ve outlived their use, put them out to pasture. I still can't figure out for the life of me why the rural poor in red states continue to vote for the GOP.

making crazy Joe the vice president was one of Obama's smarter moves. even we who detest Obama's incompetence and his failures don't want Biden as president. He's as worthless as Obama with about half the brains

Most everyone is a product of their own effort and abilities (inheritances are the exception). That's just the way it is...

that reads like some crap out of the IWW handbook. I cannot understand why any man who takes responsibility for himself would vote for the Dems. I guess if people want to be perpetual children-or worse yet, want to run the lives of others, they vote Dem

I do. Some of our best years was when Clinton was president and Republicans held the house and the Senate. The only problem is that Republicans had Newt Gingrich on their side back then. That Obama fellow is pretty hard headed. I'm not sure if Boehner and McConnell will have any luck working with him.

For conservatives this composition of government is gridlock for anything spending related. That's really good.

You can thank Republicans for driving down wages offshoring Jobs, trying to **** with Medicaid and Social Security. They're always doing what they can to take more out of peoples mouths and pockets that have less, the disenfranchised and downtrodden. just so they can have more. By nature right wingers are greedy, heartless, evil bastards.

Uhm, median wages have decreased by 8% over the last six years of the President's governance...

lots of bitterness there dude. generally when I see that level of hysterical bitterness I am usually dealing with a college kid who believes some crap he read, or people who have failed to achieve and are desperately trying to transfer the reason for the failure to someone or something else

We can only hope for the best.
Since the GOP will have solid majorities in both the House and Senate they should be able to implement their wondrous agenda.
Can't blame the gridlock on Harry Reid anymore.
We shall soon see.

Implement their agenda, how? They don't have a supermajority so everything will be vetoed by the president and they don't have the votes to override the vetoes. So, nothing changes, just more posturing and more gridlock. The only way this will be significant is if there is a vacancy in the Supreme Court. If not, then it will be just more of the same, that is, gridlock and nothing getting done.

This only increases the dysfunctional state of affairs in Washington DC.

Oh wait, sorry, I guess you were being sarcastic, never mind.

At least the President would be forced to do something other than vote "present"...

preventing another far lefty on the USSC was the main reason why I wanted the GOP to hold the senate. and if a Justice dies or retires within 5 months of the 16 election, no way is an Obama appointee going to get on the court

Of course perfect example of right wing brain thought where everything is black-and-white. There's no gray areas, every circumstance and situation is exactly the same. You lost your job? it's your fault. Can't find another one? it's your fault. Hungry? your fault. Can't afford Higher education? Your fault. There's never extenuating circumstances or Cause-and-effect with you people.

I've lost several jobs, but I've never looked to the federal government to fix that problem...

years ago, a non-political friend of mine correctly noted that politics comes down to one basic difference

do you consider your own welfare primarily your own personal responsibility or that of the government

and this rings true reading some of these posts.

so what makes it MY duty to have to fund your meals or your schooling?

Unfortunately, that's how dems form their platform...

I wonder what percentage of those business owners that took jobs overseas are liberals. Oh right, the majority of them. :lamo

When Obama took office his first, second, and third priority should have been to fix the economy. His fourth should have been to retract the wars in the Middle East without letting it all slide back into chaos.

The fact that they did NONE of those things is why nobody will remember him as being an effective President. He'll just be a footnote in the history book. Just another name the kids have to memorize in history class. congrats

yeah, a bunch of would be elites who want to use government power (dipping their beaks into the income-redistribution trough) to become rich and powerful without actually earning either pandering to a bunch of people who never want to grow up and want to perpetually have a mommy and daddy tell them what to do, excuse their failures, and feed them
