GOP seizes Senate

Uhmmmmm, cute, but no banana. The changing of the guard actually hasn't happened yet. "Now is the day of reckoning" in my post is, of course, a bit metaphorical since those newbies who won their elections haven't yet engage in their duties.

But, "we will see", says the blind man to his deaf brother.

I was just kidding. It will be interesting to watch.

your analysis is not to good, its predicated on actions which must take place by the GOP and then the feelings of the people to act.

andI said both in my analysis. I feel most secure about the GOP going bat guano crazy with right wing crap. I think thats a foregone conclusion and they will be able to resist the moment. I feel less secure about Obama growing a pair and doing what I suggest. But its the ticket to victory so I hope he does.

I'm laughing at the notion that anyone believes there are still Christians left in the Democrat party.

In fact, anyone who votes for a liberal democrat on religious grounds these days, may as well paint a pentogram on their living room floor.

Nice hyperbole, no true Scottsman huh? Since when do YOU dictate who is Christian or not?

What victory?

It will be indeed. The political pendulum has swung once again. At least we have a pendulum that swings. Better than an Autocracy or Theocracy.

lets take your steps.....

1......it was already predicated long before the election that the GOP would take the senate......so you cannot claim any credit for that.

2.....any legislation which passes the house and senate , will be labeled "right wing", by democrats.......so that is not a prediction by you.

3......you have stated "Obama needs to grow a pair"......i myself do not believe this even needs to be said.......i feel with most certainly, that after last night" the democrat party and the president will continue to dig in their heels and become more defiant" so if you wish to say that's growing a pair, ...no that's his [personality].......as to the last part of 3....its just a "rant" on things not going your way as you expected.

4......this is just a "hope" and another rant on the GOP.

5....its not going to matter, who the GOP picks, anyone they pick, will be categorized as a "right wing extremist" by the left.

6.....a "hope" of your own thinking is hardly ..........a step in any direction.

Let's see. We have 6 years of government run by the left, and you're wondering what may have happened during that time which would cause the electorate to reject major aspects of that governance? I can think of a few things, but I'm certain you can too.

No, I can't think of anything that's happening now that they'll get less of w/the extra right wing kooks in the Senate. So please tell us all. We're waiting. . .

The GOP will have to deliver something substantial within two years - seems like a lifetime in politics, but it's actually not a huge amount of time for legislation to make the rounds. Reconciliation will be a big deal. Just my thoughts. I could be way off base. McConnell had better hit the ground running, and he better be very careful about the direction he chooses.

And what exactly will they deliver. . .? Please do tell. We're waiting. . .

Everyone, grab your popcorn :)

You won't have too long to wait. Patience. Some elections have yet to be decided. Which right wing kooks in the Senate are bothering you?

WOW!!!! Where do you jump to the grand canyon conclusion that I am taking credit for the GOP taking the Senate? That is just amazing for you to say something like that!

2.....any legislation which passes the house and senate , will be labeled "right wing", by democrats.......so that is not a prediction by you.

Why in the world are you using this as some sort of really lame attack on me instead of discussing the actual post?

If the wrong label is placed on something which does not merit it - it is something that could hurt the Dems so they have to be careful - and accurate about this. And I suspect they will not apply the label to "ANY LEGISLATION " as you state.

Again WOW!!!! You chose to attack instead of discuss. This morning on many of the shows there is already talk of a WHite House that wants to work with the GOP in Congress and is willing to compromise. So my doubts about his resolve are already valid.

I personally hope that we learn from the last six years of GOP behavior and do unto others as they have done unto you.

But I doubt Obama will have the stomach for that even though his supporters would be overjoyed to see a warrior in the White House for a change.

4......this is just a "hope" and another rant on the GOP.

no - its a prediction.

5....its not going to matter, who the GOP picks, anyone they pick, will be categorized as a "right wing extremist" by the left.

and hopefully by the majority of voters. But your assumption is false EB. If the GOP would nominate a moderate with a solid moderate record, any attempt to paint them as right wing extremist is going to fail and backfire. If it is a right wing extremist whose record and statement bear this out - then its a fitting label.

6.....a "hope" of your own thinking is hardly ..........a step in any direction

WOW!!!! Again you opt to be involved in a petty attack on me instead of recognizing a scenario for future events that I laid out long before last night ever happened.

Now that the dog has caught the car, let's see what he does with it.

I'm hoping they will pass bills abolishing the EPA and the IRA. Obama will veto them, of course, but it would set the stage for 2016.

Immigration reform: Give them all work visas and let them get in line behind everyone else for naturalization - no increase in numbers. Dare Obama to veto that.

And about a billion bills that cut taxes and regulations.

You and exactly who else? There's over 300 bills sitting tabled. You can start there, and maybe you'll get an idea or two.

Good job GOP and " eff " off Ried you useless POS.

I guess this means the lefties on the sight are going to be even more sour than they usual..

Not really because if you think that harry reid or Obama will pass 1 republican bill then you are crazy.
Reid will either filibuster it or Obama will veto it.

they will become the party of No that they accuse republicans of being.

LOL.

Given the fact that the GOP cant pass anything in the House except for 'repeal Obamacare' bills that they only pass because they KNOW they will go nowhere, I'd be stunned if the rational portion of the House GOP can align with the teabag nuts and come up with any reasonable legistlation on anything significant that can get thru the Senate.

I expect the Senate will do a bang up job blocking every administration appointment for the next two years, talk a lot about how immigration reform is really, really important (but not actually do anything), and rip into Obama's EPA reforms, with occasional pauses to shut down government over budgets and the debt ceiling again.

Just like they did from 1996 to 2006? Hahahahahah. Sure.

by the numbers

As I have been saying for quite a while now, the best thing that could have happened to the Democratic Party last night was for the GOP to take back control of the Senate by a few vote margin. And thankfully, that is exactly what we got. That was Step #1.

Step #2 depends on the GOP in Congress. I predict they will go all out with all sorts of right wing pieces of legislation and many will actually get passed by both houses and be sent to the desk of the President.

Step #3 depends on President Obama. If he can grow a pair between now and then, he can stand up strong and forcefully and VETO those bills that are too far to the right for the American people. And if he has the guts to do that, he should do so very loudly and very publicly and with all the the righteous condemnation of an Old Testament prophet berating the sinners that he can muster. The American people must know that he will not allow the right wing to take over the nation and pass a political and ideological that destroys 120 years of progress by turning back the clock to the Gilded Age. Of course, Obama has never been a street fighting man - and that is one of the biggest let downs to people like me who voted and worked to get him elected in 2008. But he will need to adopt that rule to save the country from the right wing hordes.

Step #4 is for the GOP and their supporters to get angry and mad and irate and see this as a betrayal of the will of the people to turn to the right (and of course it is not given the nature of these mid term election with a lower dem turnout than in presidential years) and accuse Obama of obstruction. This will only inspire them to stay hard right and not give an inch or modify their views and bills.

Step #5 is for the GOP to embrace a strong right wing candidate in 2016 to bear their standard for President setting up an election reminiscent of 1964 when the GOP turned to the far right and came up with Barry Goldwater. My personal pick would be Rand Paul or Ted Cruz.

Step #6 is election night when we see a rerun of 64 with the GOP going down to defeat all over the nation with a few pockets of exception and the Democratic party sweeps to victory taking back Congress, winning the White House and taking back some parts of state legislatures and governor ships in the landslide.

There you go EB - by the numbers steps 1 through 6.
Assumptions and hyperbole.

Plenty of Dems out there tired of Obama badmouthing coal. The EPA will likely get their just desserts.

*Shudder*. Sentiment like this is why I'm a firm establishment Republican.
