The Justice Department has dispatched federal poll monitors to 18 states in an effort to prevent voter discrimination ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced Monday.

The monitors will look for race-based discrimination and inadequate resources for bilingual voters and individuals with disabilities, the agency said in a statement on Monday.

I don't know, this seems an awful lot like the Federal Government intimidating election officials.

Holder said monitor's will be "working in a fair and nonpartisan manner" but with everything we've seen thus far, can you really believe him?

Outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder has sent poll watchers from the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division to monitor elections in 18 states today for voter intimidation and ballot fraud. He's also reminding poll workers that by law, bilingual materials and proper assistance must be provided to people casting ballots.

"Attorney General Holder also called on jurisdictions to implement the recommendations of President Obama's bipartisan Presidential Commission on Election Administration, which outlined a series of steps to make it simpler to cast a ballot.....snip~

I'm all for bi-lingual assistance. What I'm not for is an over-zealous monitor creating a hostile environment by second guessing every move an election judge makes in regards to questioning the validity of someone walking up and asking for a ballot.

How many will slip through the cracks as a result of a judge not asking someone who they'd otherwise question but didn't because they're afraid of being called out by a monitor and basically be called a racist?

I'd be interested in how those 18 states were selected and which polling places within each state.

I'd be interested in knowing what those Federal Poll monitors do when they aren't monitoring elections.

Who are the groups that suggested these districts?

Maybe some DoJ flack could just proactively post the answers instead of waiting for some do nothing "journalist" to ask.

GOP SENATE + GOP HOUSE = LAME DUCK President.

Yes, you can definitely see, if he gets too rambunctious, especially with this impending doomsday EO on Immigration he is promising, that old scandals will be revisited, Racism will be screamed from the top of the Capitol Dome every hour on the hour, and any new scandals will be dealt with with *ahem* extreme prejudice.
