Republicans are calling on Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu to apologize after she suggested Thursday that President Obama's deep unpopularity in the South is partly tied to race.

Anyone in the GOP who doesn't recognize the fact that the GOP has close to zero support from Blacks in the USA Is out of touch with reality

Does anyone have any idea why so few Blacks support the GOP/

I agree with Governor Jindal that Landrieu was speaking divisively here and add that it was for the most transparently self-serving and desperate of reasons.

Obama's not running; she is. Let's see if she can outrun the criticism.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

Pathetic racebaiting from a desperate and pathetic person.

Desperate and repugnant antics didn't help Wendy Davis much in Texas; they won't help Mary Landrieu in Louisiana.

Some people in the GOP can't deal with the truth. But in the future the truth will deal with the GOP.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

Landrieu is desperate.

And she didn't limit her remarks to African-Americans; she also said that in the past women in the South had to struggle too.

The question is whether she'll succeed in getting out the vote. We'll know in a few days.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

Boy did she step in it this time. Hasn't she noticed the skin color of her own governor the good people of Louisianna voted for twice?

Yet she is calling her own constituents racists? What an idiot.

Edit- I forgot to mention Governor Blanco, the female governor the good people of Louisiana voted into office prior to Jindal. Guess her sexist comments don't hold up either.

What does black support for the GOP have to do with Landrieus comments? Why nothing. It is simply an attempt by you to deflect what she said and make the issue about republicans. Obama isn't unpopular in the south because he is black. He is unpopular in much of the nation because his policies suck and his leadership is non-existent. But you go right ahead and defend this womans pathetic attempt at blaming her and her presidents unpopularity on the sexism and racism of the voters of her state. Brilliant move Landrieu--insult the people whose votes you are trying to get. Look for her hosting a show on MSNBC next spring because she wont be in the Senate.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

So Mary represents a bunch of racists and sexists. She should resign if she believes that, and she should move up north, where such people don't exist. Detroit could use some of her family's money. It's a little cooler up there, but hopefully not as cool as the reception her remarks will receive next Tuesday.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

What has the democratic party done for black people? What good is it to them to vote democrat? I just don't get it.

Liberals should be embarressed as hell that the race card is all their party has. "It's because Obama is black", is probably the most idiotic statement in human history.

Good one. Wanna bet that Ms. Mary just probably saved Cassidy the trouble of a runoff? Cassidy occasionally has been polling at 50% which is needed to avoid a runoff. Personally I think she just pushed Mr. Cassidy over the finish line.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

Her insulting the entire southern half of the country with charges of racism and sexism will be largely ignored by the alphabet "news" media...

the same "objective" journalists who flooded the airwaves with Romney's "47%" comment for months.

Yep. I expect so. Needlessly insulting the populace in response to her failures is not a great idea. I hope them there grapes she's about to eat are really, really sour.

1) Yep, inequality of outcome MUST indicate imequality of opportunity. ;)

2) The racial identity politics card has not been played well by the GOP. To play the racial identity politics card you need "black leaders" (elected or already popular/successful outside of politics) to say join our party and support our platform. The GOP lacks those black figureheads - nearly all black elected officials are not in the GOP.

3) The GOP will continue to lack significant black popular support so long as they lag behind (the demorats) in getting black candidates elected.

I guess Landrieu also forgot about Lindy Boggs.

She made those desperate and sick remarks to drag in the easily influenced.

I would be a little embarrassed if I were you.

She knows she is in trouble now.....and this could end her career in that state. Jindal tore her up and now the Demos themselves will slide away from her.

IMO.....she just gave the Repubs Louisiana's Senate Seat. Thank you very much.....now hit pasture and stay out of politics for good. She will be doing her country a service then.

If you think that Demo's are going to win Tuesday, you are simply delusional....

Read this from a Black author....

"Blacks have always been conservative or, more accurately, traditionalists. This DNA was embedded in us from the depths of our African ancestry."

snip

When you talk about specific issues that are important to conservatives—abortion, welfare, homosexual entitlements, etc.—Blacks are overwhelmingly supportive. But as soon as you put the label conservative with it, the dynamic changes.

Meanings are in people, not in words. Currently, America and specifically the Black community have allowed liberalism and political correctness to run amuck.

We must breathe new life into the dormancy of our culture. We must water the DNA that is begging to raise its head once more. For the first time in the history of Africa, homosexuality is sweeping across the continent, babies are being born outside of marriage, and they are sending their elderly parents to nursing homes.

I am one who makes a living based on my knowledge and understanding of the use of words and language. Before White and Black conservatives address the Black community on any issues, they first must define their terms of engagement. Bush 43 was called conservative, but spent money like a drunken sailor. Republicans leaders of Congress call themselves fiscally conservative, but constantly support deficit spending.

So, one needs to define what the word conservative means and why it is relevant to a person’s everyday life. Why Black conservatives, especially those with a heart, have not done this is truly a mystery.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

The funniest thing about Landieu's comments is that she is trying to blame her failing campaign on sexism when she is the incumbent.

Re: Sen. Landrieu's remarks on race anger Republicans

Its not just Landrieu either.

Georgia Democrats — especially Senate candidate Michelle Nunn — are relying on pastors like Warnock to get the black vote out, especially since African-Americans traditionally don’t show up in large numbers at the polls in non-presidential election years. “If they were to hit 30 percent of the vote being African-American, they’re in the game,” Ralph Reed, the Republican political operative in Atlanta and longtime Christian conservative activist, says of the Georgia Democrats. “Anything below that, and they’ll lose. Anything above that, and it’s probably too close to call.”

To reach that threshold, Democrats in the state have gone nasty in recent days: They are stirring up racial fears in the black community, outraging conservatives and talk radio hosts in the state who call it racial demagoguery at its worst.

If you want to prevent another Ferguson in their future,” reads one inflammatory mailer sent to black residents in the state. “Vote.”....snip~

What, other than her southern racism, could possibly explain why she personally disagrees with Obama policy? ;)

Landrieu broke with Obama on several fronts in the debate, saying she disagrees with his proposed ozone regulations and she supports a 21-day quarantine for health care workers who have been treating patients with Ebola.
