Orbital Sciences rocket explodes moments after launch

Well it take Congress - in which democrats are in aw of Obama - but when that doesn't work he just resorts to executive orders to build a larger government.

You're just babbling at this point.

What? my accusations come straight from the dummy Obamas mouth.

However there you go again defending progressives like the progressive you are....

Lolz.

No, I'm just laughing at your claims of "defense" when I've posted nothing of the sort.

Yeah right..... You just like to play games... You like to screw with people because you're bored.

Don't make it so easy next time.

Don't make it easy next time?

You do realize how ****ed **** is these days and all you want to do is mess with people like some narcissistic fool living in his moms basement?

If we have a civil war II I hope you're severely punished and oppressed.

Mkay.

NASA and all of rocket science (at least those that plan launches from the ground) are stupid. They could easily tow a rocket up in a balloon and launch it in the stratosphere....

Most fuel is wasted defying gravity..... Imagine how much further we could go (or how less expensive) a mission would be if we didn't have to defy gravity.

I need a bigger laughing emoticon.

Not an empty field. They beat out Kestrel for the ISS launches. There are plenty of other companies out there, including Sea Launch, and Sierra Nevada, and a few others that aren't as far along.

Orbital has other rockets that are proven and will do the job. Remember, SpaceX blew up its first 3 launches.

Orbital has been launching since the 1980's, Sierra Nevada and 'Sea Launch' are new companies with Sea Launch basically acting as a proxy company for Zenit rocket launches. For decades you could essentially choose between Orbital and ULA. My contention is that Orbital has had a fairly lousy track record for the past few years and is egregiously expensive and inefficient compared to its competitors at SpaceX and ULA.

Also Kestrel is just an old SpaceX engine for the Falcon-1, what do you mean Antares 'beat out' Kestrel? SpaceX beat Orbital for the first ISS launch and the rest of the contract.

Just another example of how private industry always gets it done completely, efficiently, cost effectively and profitably whereas government can never do anything right.....

Nonsense.

Private industry has been building rockets since the Apollo program.

My bad, it was Kistler.

Sea Launch reorganized and it is now completely under Russian/Ukrainian control, they have had some spectacular explosions. Kistler and SpaceX were the first two companies that NASA tasked, but Kistler lost their bid. Great article last week about how SpaceX operates, I don't have the link, but title is: What it took for elon musks spacex to disrupt boeing leapfrog nasa and become a serious space company. Find it and read it, very informative.

Yeah, because NASA never lost a rocket on takeoff...

Another Obama failure!

Hey guys look, Kobie is trying to make the thread about Obama so he can complain about the thread being about Obama.

They get contracts because the alternative to doing business with Orbital Sciences was ULA and for decades that was pretty much it. In the past few years they've lost nearly a billion dollars worth of satellites and their rockets and capsule are pretty crappy.

You work for Elon Musk or something? He seems to share you opinion  :

"The results are pretty crazy," Musk said in the 2012 interview. "One of our competitors, Orbital Sciences, has a contract to resupply the International Space Station, and their rocket honestly sounds like the punch line to a joke. It uses Russian rocket engines that were made in the '60s. I don’t mean their design is from the '60s -- I mean they start with engines that were literally made in the '60s and, like, packed away in Siberia somewhere." :doh

I wish. It's an opinion a lot of people have. Eventually Orbital will run out of supply and will actually have to start producing their own rockets. If they haven't been pummeled out of the market by then. They are a legacy contractor chosen because they've always been chosen.

No, it wasn't.

Orbital has some problems with its VA based rocket folks working on this one.

The Phoenix based ones working on Minotaur are doing fine. Problem with this is, 40+ year old Soviet engines.
Engine was refurbished, basically new.

You see the thing here? The thing you just noticed and pointed out? This is a wonderful concept that I want you to hold on to. Keep an eye out for this in the future. It happens constantly, and once you start to notice it, you realize that it's everywhere. Good for you, jmotivator, you've joined the ranks of posters whose eyes are open to this ridiculous type of posting.

Now, here's what I want you to do with this new found skill:

Apply this to "race card" posts.

I will be sure to call on anyone who tries to derail a debate by using the race card.
