Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say how

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

She could have said what it was without naming a name.
Maybe the poor schmuck held a door open for her.

That's sort of the point I've been making. She answered a direct question, "Yes" and made no actual claim that needed defending or elaboration. Senators treated her differently....

"Men who open doors for women are guilty of 'benevolent sexism' according to a new study by feminist psychologists."

As I said, all the rest is projection. See ^^^^

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

Flat out liar huh? What do you know about this more than the rest of us? Do share.

For openers, she's part Indian. She couldn't come up with any backing for that statement either.

Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say how

Sen. Elizabeth Warren says she has been treated differently as a woman in Congress.

But unlike Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who opened up about her experience with sexism on Capitol Hill in a recent book, Warren — the first woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts — won't elaborate.

In an interview with CNN scheduled to air Wednesday, Warren was asked whether she had experienced treatment similar to what Gillibrand described.

"Yes," Warren said.

Would she care to elaborate?

"Nope," she said. "I've said all I'm going to say."

<snip>

First off, she looks nuts in that picture.

Second, she (and her Democratic counterparts in DC) push female citizens to fight against treatment like this, at the risk of alienating their bosses and co-workers, etc. But Senator Warren doesn't want to name names? Doesn't want to provide specifics? Doesn't want to fight it?

What am I missing here?

My highly trained detective skills tell me you don't like Elizabeth Warren very much.

Ok... Just as I thought. You dig up BS from way back about her mother telling her they had cherokee in their history. You got nothing on the topic at all so this is just you being indoctrinated to hate her because Fox told you to and you don't even really know why.

If she ever does run for president, I can promise you the Indian thing will have all the dazzling success that the Kenyan narrative had for Obama's opponents.

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

Hill was treated very well. It was Clarence Thomas who suffered the indignities.

I wouldn't expect your memory or denial to be better than that.

Do you believe she is a Native American?

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

Do you believe she is a Native American?

Don't know. Don't care. Why do you?

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

Do you believe she is a Native American?

Claiming she's part Native American isn't quite the same as claiming to be the direct descendant of Henry VIII.

It's not about me. It's all in the historical record.

Has the left been changing history again??

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

on the other hand, I think female politicians are often held to lower standards than male counterparts.

That's a hard claim to prove looking at the number of women who win elections to high political offices, and considering some of the truly incompetent morons who've managed to make careers in D.C. ;)

Perhaps, but unlike the Kenyan narrative with Obama, they actually have Warren in a lie.

What's in the historical record? That her mother told her they had cherokee in their history?

My family lore was that I was an indirect decendent of Andrew Jackson. Thought that was the case for many years until genealogy seems to have proved otherwise. Thank God being that Andrew Jackson was one giant D bag.

A claim I've never really understood, actually. How was it she was shown to be lying? Did somebody manage to dig up her entire family tree and find no Native Americans in there?

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

Nancy Pelosi did all right as did Barbara Boxer. Michelle Bachmann never offered excuses. It's no place for the thin-skinned of any sex, race or color.

Huh, I missed where Warren was making excuses. Can you point me to where she did that? I think she did say something about needing more strong women in the Senate....

Of course not. Or any number of historical figures.

But it can be an advantage in trying to enter Harvard as a minority student through affirmative action.

Treated differently? Well, of course. It's custom when walking in a hallway to keep to the right side. Surely, with Elizabeth Warren, when her fellow Senators see her in the hallway they concede the LEFT wall to her.

Read it again.

So you're saying she's lying on the basis of affirmative action?

The story in my family is my mom's grandfather was an illegitimate child of an adulterous affair between a Cherokee Indian that the mother had an affair with while husband was off on a year long drunk bender in another state. Told that story 100 times as the reason her side has some members in it with native American features - black hair, dark eyes, dark skin. Have no idea if it's true....

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

Read it again.

I did, still don't see it. Here's a rough transcript I did. Help me out...

Question: Have you had any similar experiences, of being treated differently because you're a woman by your colleagues in the Senate?
Warren: Yes.
Q: Can you elaborate?
W: Nope?
Q: I'm not asking you to name names...
W: I've said all I'm going to say.
Q: Surprising to you?
W: I wish it was, but it's hard to change these big, male dominated institutions. What I am very happy about is there are now enough women in the U.S. Senate to begin to change that place, and I just think that's powerfully important.
Q: But if a US Senator is treated differently than her colleagues?
W:...if you don't have a seat at the table, you're probably on the menu... So it's important that we have women in the United States Senate, strong women, and women who are there to help advance an agenda important to women...

Re: Elizabeth Warren says she's been treated differently in the Senate but won't say

Are you familiar with the history?

A link to something that might familiarize me with the facts of the matter wouldn't hurt. But I've got to warn you ahead of time, if it's Breitbart, WorldNut or Conservapedia I can tell you right now you can save your time.

But it can be an advantage in trying to enter Harvard as a minority student through affirmative action.

And you bought that lie hook line and sinker...

On the Rutgers application, Warren wrote "No" in response to the question: "Are you interested in applying for admission under the Program for Minority Group Students?"

Warren graduated from Rutgers in 1976.

On a personnel file from the University of Texas, Warren checked the box "White" when asked to select "the racial category or categories with which you most closely identify."

The categories included a box for "American Indian or Alaska Native," which Warren did not check.

Harvard Law School professor Charles Fried has said that any suggestion that Warren enjoyed an affirmative action advantage in her hiring as a full professor is "false" and that Warren was recruited because of her expertise in bankruptcy and commercial law.

aaaaaannnnd boom goes the dynamite. What a petty petty petty argument to begin with. I find it hard to believe how much people harp on it just because the GOP pushed this BS narrative during a campaign against her. Clearly they don't dare want to face her on polices if this petty garbage is where they put their focus on her.
