Obama makes rare campaign trail appearance, people leave early

That is true. But in a way I think it might be a good thing for the Republicans to win the senate. That way the GOP can pass all the bills they want, the president can veto all the bills he wants. But each party ideology will be in the forefront for all to see. The stark differences will be in plain sight and come 2016, let the voters decide.

Appearances simply don't matter to me. I just want the government as crippled as possible when it comes to expansion. Nothing better than a do-nothing congress in my view.

Yeah, I know a few people who believe exactly that. As one of those always says, with every new law or piece of legislation passed, there is some freedom and liberty lost.

Obama made his appearance in a blue state with a candidate sporting a hefty lead. He can't do much damage. Maryland is the Massachusetts of the mid-Atlantic states. By the time the left is done with it, Maryland will have extraordinarily high taxes and nobody left but the too poor to leave, and the affluent left. Everybody else will have long since left the place.

It already has extraordinarily high taxes.

It does. My younger brother lives there at Annapolis. His taxes are astonishing. He plans to leave as soon as early retirement allows. I would too.

 The Dems are not worried. It's in the bag.

Chicagoland voting machine casts candidate’s vote for his Dem opponent - EAGnews.org
October 21, 2014

“While early voting at the Schaumburg Public Library today, I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” said Moynihan. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat.”

While using a touch screen voting machine in Schaumburg, Moynihan voted for several races on the ballot, only to find that whenever he voted for a Republican candidate, the machine registered the vote for a Democrat in the same race. He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race. It is unknown if the machine in question (#008958) has been removed from service or is still in operation.

Anyone I see who says this makes me laugh in that anyone actually believing that has to believe that what we have and where we are is absolutely so perfect that they do not want anything to change at all. I disagree.

Then I live not far from him, I plan to retire elsewhere myself.

You misunderstand. I would dearly love change. But the change I want will not happen so I prefer to curb growth as a second place scenario. You may laugh but I'm dead serious.

What's funny to me is that that ideology is so gripped by pessimism that its basically saying "we are absolutely going to hell no matter what and I want us to burn but burn at a slightly slower rate."

A crippled and unable congress is a good thing, its prevented Obama from being as destructive as he'd like to be. That alone is an achievement.

I can't imagine why you think it is funny.

I can't imagine why you think it is funny.

Overt pessimism and paranoia are essentially the root of great comedic fodder.
