Obama administration ignored the CDC’s advice to prevent an Ebola outbreak

I was responding to Zylphin's post concerning what Barry did or didn't in 2008 after the alert.

No way, no how do I think not closing the borders after the outbreak was a good idea.

There is another concern that I have not seen mentioned. Liberia and other affected countries have no medical facilities. Is it not reasonable to assume that those in those countries that are infected and have the means will not fly to the US to get treatment?

If we take them, which we should not. Treat them there, we can't take in a continent over this, nor should we.

Told in 2008: Obama administration ignored the CDC’s advice to prevent an Ebola outbreak
Added only 5 of 18 global health centers recommended

The Centers for Disease Control told the incoming Obama administration in 2008 that it should establish 18 regional disease detection centers around the world to adequately safeguard the U.S. from emerging health threats like Ebola, according to an agency memo.

But six years later, as the government struggles to contain the fallout from a deadly Ebola outbreak at home and abroad, the CDC still has only 10 centers — and none of them operates in the western Africa region hardest hit by the deadly virus.

lol...

Well if the Washington Times says its so then...

Great source there champ! I mean it was founded by the 2nd coming of Christ Sun Myung Moon and all. It has to be true. :lamo

Just let us know when the GOP decides to stop filibustering Surgeon General nominations so we can actually have one.

By keeping open a way for the disease to rapidly spread to the rest of the world. Where those people now exposed can find out there if they are infected.
Brilliant.

Indeed.

As with any viral outbreak, Ebola, measles, chickenpox, whatever, containment of the virus until it is no longer transmissible is the only reasonable course of action.

I fail to understand why such a simple fact escapes so many. When you were a child, and contacted chickenpox, did you mother send you off to school to infect the other children?

No, she kept you home until you were no longer contagious. Same principal here, just with bigger group of people and world wide, given modern air travel.

If you are suggesting its untrue, kindly provide evidence. Im waiting.

The left is paralyzed by logic and reason. Its why they can't say anything-it throws a wrench in the gears of liberal ideology.

Read your own ****ing article beyond the stupid headline and find out whose pushing for more CDC funding and whose not. ;)

Holy crap this is going in the sig.

Obviously, we should not take them. Nor do I think we should bring back infected US citizens. There is too much at stake at this time to take chances.

I don't think those who are coming here for treatment are going to announce that they have been exposed or show symptoms. The only prudent thing to do is to stop traffic from infected areas.

It's not that big of a deal as you and the 24 hour news networks are making it out to be. Stop panicking.

Here's a recap of recent things that we should already be dead of according to our really ****ty news stations.

Bird flu.
Swine Flu.
Madcow disease.
They are selling ads based on the level of your fear. We will be fine.

Tell Obama to nominate a Surgeon General who's qualified then.

Republicans have already deemed any nomination Obama puts forth unqualified so your argument is a fail. I'm also rather positive that if you didn't have google sitting right in front of you right now you'd not have a clue as to who Obama put forth or why the GOP claims to not nominate him.

I liked the one about the Northern US border being sealed better. It had far superior irony.

Both sigs are hilarious in their ridiculousness.

You would have enjoyed the joke had you read the accompanying article. When you quoted that one line I knew you never got the wonderful irony of it all.

Well, its not without cause that we are hard on him and his appointees.

He appointed a Political hack with no qualifications to be the " Ebola Czar ".

I mean WTF !!??

The economic consequences of shuting down the ability of the west African to conduct trade and travel would cause more harm then good.

Another Leftie who is supremely confident that they are immune to Ebola..... Why?

Because not allowing being people into the country with fatally infectious and easily spread diseases is 'intolerant'.

Do you trust people who don't see Ebola as a threat?

I think those people who don't see Ebola as a fatally infectious disease which can kill their fellow citizens on a massive scale but instead look at it as a human rights issue, or even an economic issue, live on the deranged side of "tolerance".
