SECOND Dallas Hospital Worker Tests Positive for Ebola

Blaming it on the Hospital....

What the hell is wrong with some people ?

The last two EBOLA Patients flew in and were brought into the other Hospitals in FULL HAZMAT suites

Did Duncan walk into that Hospital in a Full HAZMAT suit ?

Heya Fenton. :2wave: The Dallas Nurses are......this just in from 19 min ago. They even left Duncan in an Open Emergency room for hours.

Dallas nurses cite sloppy conditions in Ebola care.....

A Liberian Ebola patient was left in an open area of a Dallas emergency room for hours, and nurses treating him worked without proper protective gear and faced constantly changing protocols, according to a statement released by the nation's largest nurses' union. The CDC has said some breach of protocol probably sickened Pham, but National Nurses United contends the protocols were either non-existent or changed constantly after Duncan arrived in the emergency room by ambulance on Sept. 28.

Deborah Burger of National Nurses United, who convened a conference call with reporters to relay what she said were concerns of nurses at the hospital, said they were forced to use medical tape to secure openings in their flimsy garments and worried that their necks and heads were exposed as they cared for Duncan. RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of Nurses United, said the statement came from "several" and "a few" nurses, but she refused repeated inquiries to state how many. She said the organization had vetted the claims, and that the nurses cited were in a position to know what had occurred at the hospital. She did not specify whether they were among the nurses caring for Duncan.

The nurses allege that his lab samples were allowed to travel through the hospital's pneumatic tubes, possibly risking contaminating of the specimen-delivery system. They also said that hazardous waste was allowed to pile up to the ceiling. The nurses' statement said they had to "interact with Mr. Duncan with whatever protective equipment was available," even as he produced "a lot of contagious fluids." Duncan's medical records underscore that concern. They also say nurses treating Duncan were also caring for other patients in the hospital and that, in the face of constantly shifting guidelines, they were allowed to follow whichever ones they chose. When Ebola was suspected but unconfirmed, a doctor wrote that use of disposable shoe covers should also be considered. At that point, by all protocols, shoe covers should have been mandatory to prevent anyone from tracking contagious body fluids around the hospital.....snip~

This is clearly the hospital's fault. I haven't heard of health care workers getting infected in the atlanta or nebraska and they have had ebola patients.
It's also possible that the two healthcare workers were contaminated when Duncan first walked into the hospital on Thursday, September 25th, as they began showing symptoms well within the 2 to 21 days incubation period since Duncan's first visit.

There are only 2 out of 76+ healthcare workers who treated Duncan who've come down with Ebola so far.

If the hospital procedures were insufficient, it is reasonable to think that many more people who treated Duncan once he was hospitalized would have shown symptoms by now.

This points more to contracting the virus from Duncan's initial visit, when only a few workers might have been both on duty and serving duty in the ER at the time.

According to the union rep. there were no CDC protocols implemented in any U.S. hospital!

But, only in this Dallas hospital have 2 out of 76+ workers who treated Duncan since he was hospitalized come down with Ebola.

None of the likely 150+ cumulative number of workers in all the other hospitals treating every one of the previous Ebola patients flown there in complete protection have come down with Ebola.

So why have 2 out of the 76+ come down with Ebola in the Texas hospital?

Because even if there were no CDC Ebola protocols in place in any U.S. hospitals, the protocols used were sufficient ..

.. And the 2 out of 76+ workers in the Dallas hospital contracted Ebola from Duncan when he first walked in on his own on Thursday, September 25th, when they were present in the ER at some time and no one suspected Ebola so no one was wearing protective gear .. and it's still within the 2 to 21 day incubation period from 9/25/14.

If the Dallas hospital protective gear and procedures for use are inadequate, than a lot more than 2 out of 76+ would be showing symptoms by now.

It is thus likely the 2 workers with Ebola contracted the disease on 9/25/14, not on 9/28/14 or thereafter.

I just read about that. So it is possible cases may show up in Cleveland too, and who knows where else after that.

Maybe that Freidman.....should do like he said and make sure they send them to where they can be isolated and treated.

Someone said we had 2 airlines that fly to Africa.....United and Delta. Plus didn't they start screening at certain Airports. So that they can't go and fly to Europe and try to come in some other way.

Well, right now they are screening on point of origin. The problem is that there is a 13% chance that a screened passenger would clear the screening and still be infectious.

Five US airports to screen for Ebola.....

Five US airports will begin screening the temperatures of passengers arriving from West Africa as the United States ramps up its response to a deadly Ebola outbreak, officials said Wednesday. "The vast majority of people" coming from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone -- the three countries hit hardest by the epidemic -- will be screened, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.

The airports implementing the measures are John F. Kennedy International in New York, Washington Dulles International, Chicago O'Hare International, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International and Newark Liberty International in New Jersey. Together, the five hubs are the destination for 94 percent of people traveling to the United States from the three most affected countries......snip~

Don't worry folks, we are plugging 94% of all the holes in the boat.

These two people would not have Ebola if we didn't issue a visitors visa to an Ebola infected person from West Africa.........also, I wouldn't be picking up the $500,000 in medical bills for him.

Flights from West Africa's infected countries must be barred from the USA/EU and better yet, Grounded.

Texas Ebola Patient Flew on Night Before Fever Appeared, CDC Says

Second Health Worker With Ebola Flew From Cleveland to Dallas; Passengers Sought

Texas Ebola Patient Flew on Night Before Symptoms Appeared, CDC Says - WSJ - WSJ

The second Texas health-care worker to be diagnosed with Ebola flew domestically the night before she reported symptoms, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Wednesday.

The woman flew on Frontier Airlines Flight 1143 from Cleveland to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Oct. 13, the CDC said. The patient didn’t exhibit symptoms during the flight, the CDC said, which could mean she wasn’t contagious at the time.

However, the agency and Frontier Airlines are now seeking 132 passengers from that flight.
The infected woman had flown to Cleveland from Dallas on Oct. 10 on Frontier Flight 1142, the CDC said.
The CDC is asking passengers who may have traveled on either flight to contact the agency at 1-800-CDC-INFO.

The patient, whose name wasn’t disclosed, was a health-care worker who treated a Liberian man diagnosed with Ebola at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas on Sept. 30. He died last Wednesday.

The woman began exhibiting symptoms of Ebola the morning after the Oct. 13 flight, which landed in Dallas at 8:16 p.m. local time on Monday.

Frontier Airlines said that after the Monday flight, “the aircraft received a thorough cleaning per our normal procedures, which is consistent with CDC guidelines.” The plane carried passengers on Tuesday and was cleaned again on Tuesday night, the airline said.
Immediately upon learning of the Ebola patient’s flight, the airline Removed the aircraft from service.

The hospital didn’t immediately respond to questions about why the health-care worker was on a commercial flight, a day after another worker had been diagnosed with the Ebola virus.

Flights and/or passengers originating in the 3 or 4 West African countries must be barred here (USA/EU) or better yet, grounded.
The virus must be treated, and better yet, ISOLATED geographically, so as not to NEEDLESSLY endanger the rest of the planet.

What happens if an Infected person Lands in Mexico City, Honduras, or Bombay, instead of the USA?

Btw on a side note......I have news reports of a Halloween Company around here, playing off this and are putting out Hazmat suits for Halloween. 60-70 dolla, all for trick-n-treat holler.

I am glad he stepped up.....even BO told the World they aren't doing enough.

Obama: World is not doing enough to contain Ebola.....

It was good he stepped up. However, the CDC seems to highlighting government incompetence right now, so I am not sure that 25 million will be spent well. They already have a 6.6 Billion dollar budget, and the head of the CDC seems untrustworthy and somewhat lost.

Well once you saw who he was.....you knew then who the fall guy will be. He tried to play it off.....as he knew there was another case. Now the Nurses at that Dallas Hospital are talking.

CDC’s new Ebola model estimates the potential future impact of the epidemic. According to the model’s worst case scenario, which assumes no change in the trajectory of the epidemic and also corrects for underreporting, the number of Ebola cases in Liberia and Sierra Leone together could reach 1.4 million by the end of January 2015. This translates into a whopping 14% cumulative prevalence rate. To put this in perspective, an equivalent rate in the U.S. population would be almost 45 million people nationally, and more than 90,000 in Washington, DC alone.

If something even close to this scenario occurs, it'll be a financial wipe-out in the markets. The Dow has already dropped 450pt once today. Something is wrong about how infectious this strain is and its form of transmittability with the cumulative prevalence rate, especially with another Dallas case. The CDC ain't telling the whole story, in efforts to prevent panic.

This is whats stunningly clear-less definitive solutions to CONTAINMENT (one of the very effective means of treating infectious disease) have failed. Period.

We need to close travel from those nations (not for medical and military personnel) immediately. Its not the worlds burden to keep open travel so that locals dont "feel" isolated, or to prop up whatever passes for an economy there. This is PC idiocy gone wild.

Now that a second Nurse has been infected with Ebola, Obama is suddenly postponing a few fundraisers to talk and possibly do something about Ebola.

Obama to Hold Ebola Meeting With Cabinet | The Weekly Standard

Yea, they're waiting too long to get out ahead of this thing and publicly reporting underestimates of its virulence and ability to spread and in attempt to prevent market panic. But the longer they delay restricting flights and throwing more resources at it, the worst this scenario is going too get, especially if they're lying about it being somewhat airborne.

Dr Friedman of the CDC said back on Oct 2cnd, that almost ANY Hospital in the US could handle a Ebola patient.

On July 21st, Friedman said Ebola posses "little threat " to the US.

He also said on Oct 5th, that they would " stop Ebola in its tracks."

He's still against travel bans.

According to Drudge, she knowingly traveled with a low grade fever the day before she tested positive for Ebola.

That Airplane flew 5 more times befirw being taken out of service.

A disease as virulent as Ebola will always target the first responders and or the first line of care like Nurses and physicians before it makes it out into the General population.

Fecking swell. The more patients get Ebola the more pressure should be put against our government to stop inbound flights and to quickly provide training and procedures for hospital workers to use as well as proper equipment and how to decontaminate.

They will still have the border.

Here's why Obama wont stop flights in from West Africa.

His initial narrative is of being prepared for the highly unlikely event of someone entering into the US is more important than the safety of American citizens.
