SECOND Dallas Hospital Worker Tests Positive for Ebola

Dr Friedman of the CDC said back on Oct 2cnd, that almost ANY Hospital in the US could handle a Ebola patient.

On July 21st, Friedman said Ebola posses "little threat " to the US.

He also said on Oct 5th, that they would " stop Ebola in its tracks."

He's still against travel bans.

Dr Friedman and the CDC are spinning a lot of misinformation, then backtracking as it's proven false.

This strain is already being reported to have higher viral loads in sick patients, which means this Ebola can spread faster and further than previous ones, especially with it's long incubation time. And it could've developed close quarter, limited airborne transmission, up to 3-6 feet. It is not "airborne" in the technical terminology, but is in fact transferable though the air. It lacks the ability to travel great distances and stay in the air as droplets at a dangerous level for prolonged amounts of time.

According to Drudge, she knowingly traveled with a low grade fever the day before she tested positive for Ebola.

That Airplane flew 5 more times befirw being taken out of service.

A disease as virulent as Ebola will always target the first responders and or the first line of care like Nurses and physicians before it makes it out into the General population.

Heya Fenton. :2wave: Have they said they took that plane out of service? I haven't seen anything on it. Plus now they say she was in Akron Ohio.

CDC’s new Ebola model estimates the potential future impact of the epidemic. According to the model’s worst case scenario, which assumes no change in the trajectory of the epidemic and also corrects for underreporting, the number of Ebola cases in Liberia and Sierra Leone together could reach 1.4 million by the end of January 2015. This translates into a whopping 14% cumulative prevalence rate. To put this in perspective, an equivalent rate in the U.S. population would be almost 45 million people nationally, and more than 90,000 in Washington, DC alone.

If something even close to this scenario occurs, it'll be a financial wipe-out in the markets. The Dow has already dropped 450pt once today. Something is wrong about how infectious this strain is and its form of transmittability with the cumulative prevalence rate, especially with another Dallas case. The CDC ain't telling the whole story, in efforts to prevent panic.

Heya Grip. Check out post 101 and what the Dallas Nurses are saying. Friedman was definitely playing it off. Even Duncan himself kept notes. But they do admit that he was left in the Open ER for hours.

Some of these Nurses went back and treated other patients.

His initial narrative is of being prepared for the highly unlikely event of someone entering into the US is more important than the safety of American citizens.

This chump President would run this nation into the ground for politics and PC. Its like he wants to see this nation fail.

This. And I seriously doubt we're hearing about every actual case or potential one. Which, I don't blame the gov't for trying to put a lid on the economic catastrophe that panic over this could cause. Between airline stocks plunging, oil prices dipping, slowing economies in Europe (Germany?), Russian sanctions and FED warnings there are lots of market worries. But being dishonest with the public up front doesn't build confidence, and actually fans the flames of hysteria when the populace doesn't trust the leaders entrusted with their care. The love of money is becoming more important than human life, and that ain't cool.

And calls for his resignation have begun.

The media is throwing around wild and crazy theories out there about transmission changes, but I would remind you its the same media that once propogated the insane notion that the Hydron Super Collider could start a black hole.

The media sometimes makes a giant deal out of nothing and wildly speculates? You're kidding?!

Next you'll tell me there weren't an orgy of rapes, child molestation, sniper attacks, roving gangs, and mountains of dead bodies in the Super Dome during Katrina....

What I don't understand is how come the folks that were living with him in that apartment aren't infected... am I missing something here?

It is a bit surprising to me as well.

Look j-mac, if that's how you want to interpret my post, fine go ahead.

But the reality is... I am frightened.

I work in a resort that attracts visitors from every corner of the globe, I've got a big horse in this fight.

Whether the disease comes here or stops people from travelling, my life is very much connected to this thing.

I even took the time to donate money to Doctors Without Borders because I believe we have to tackle this thing at its source.

But I have to put my faith in what we know about this disease and its infectiousness, in the west there has been a number of Ebola sufferers repatriated and treated and so far 1 nurse in Spain and the two workers in Texas bless their souls have fallen ill.

It's worrying because it shows either there's something wrong with procedure, or the equipment they used, but it doesn't change how transmission occurred which is coming into direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected individual.

I'd also remind you that it has been almost 21 days since Mr. Duncan was not in quarantine and infectious and no one else he came into contact with got the virus.

This is a very sad day for these healthcare workers, but hundreds of other healthcare workers have already died trying to combat this terrible disease, if this isn't a call to action I don't know what is.
Ok, fair enough. However, your horse in this race as you put it, is not being served well by minimizing the threat we now face.

The border remains unsecured, and now this latest case where the nurse traveled to OH and back on domestic flights. Where's the people on those flights? How many did she come in contact with? What hotel did she stay at?

The potential for an out of control situation to take hold is now there, and we are supposed to believe a CDC, and administration that lies and has to change their story daily?

We are being lied to.

Flights from West Africa's infected countries must be barred from the USA/EU and better yet, Grounded.
There is no pressing need for Intl travel from these Tiny crap-holes.
Those planes are being used daily.

Texas Ebola Patient Flew on Night Before Symptoms Appeared, CDC Says - WSJ - WSJ

Wait till Flu season soon breaks out! It will be Hazmat suit Halloween in hospitals and Airlines.
Flights and/or passengers originating in the 3 or 4 West African countries must be barred here (USA/EU) or better yet, grounded.
The virus must be treated, and better yet, ISOLATED geographically, so as not to NEEDLESSLY endanger the rest of the planet.

What happens if an Infected person Lands in Mexico City, Honduras, or Bombay, instead of the USA?

What I don't understand is how come the folks that were living with him in that apartment aren't infected... am I missing something here?

The nurses were treating him when he was in his worst condition creating large amounts of contagious fluids.

They had direct contact with blood, and feces, and vomit.

Interesting enough, after talking with the first nurse, they said they cannot pinpoint exactly when or how she came in contact with the disease or when or how she broke protocols.

Yes, blame the victim...the officials not you...

Yes, but the nurses were wearing protective gear and the family members were not.... were they not cleaning up bodily fluids in the apartment?

Obama is to blame as far as his oversight of the CDC administration is concerned. He also needs to watch what he says, and not overdo the "we have it under control" bull****. They have nothing under control, as is plainly obvious.

On the bright side I would think most people tune out what Obama says these days anyway.

I mean how many "Let Me Be Clear"s can we take?

This is from 49 minutes ago. This woman has worsened and has now been sent to Atlanta. Oh and look they are asking people who were on the plane to call Dallas. This is not good. They best have had some cameras at the airport.

Vinson’s condition has worsened and she will be flown to a biocontainment unit at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, federal officials said during a Wednesday news conference. CDC director Dr. Tom Frieden said Vinson, who was in Ohio to plan her wedding, was not experiencing symptoms at the time of her flight, but “should not have traveled” on her return flight to Texas after learning in Ohio that she was a potential infection risk.

The CDC asks that all 132 passengers on Monday’s Frontier Airlines flight 1143 from Cleveland to Dallas-Fort Worth call 1-800-CDC-INFO. The flight landed at 8:16 p.m. CT Monday. Going forward, Frieden said, no one else involved in Duncan's care will be allowed to travel “other than in a controlled environment.” The White House conceded on Wednesday that there have been “shortcomings” in the response to the Dallas Ebola crisis. "It's not clear what protocols were in place and how those protocols were implemented," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said during a news conference......snip~

Greetings all. Just as info.. The second nurse that treated Thomas Duncan, who has died, has been diagnosed with Ebola. 28 year-old Amber Vinson was visiting relatives on the other side of town from where I live from October 8 through Oct 13. We are all in shock, and are glued to our TV sets. The CDC has been going house to house to interview neighbors, and some have been interviewed on TV. They are attempting to interview her in Dallas to determine where she went and who she saw while she was here in NE Ohio., and they keep repeating the phone number of the CDC asking people to call them. The CDC has also requested that the people on the flight with her from Cleveland to Dallas to also call them . They have yellow tape around the house where she was staying, where a self-isolated person is inside. She is being transferred to Atlanta for treatment. That's about all I know at the moment. I'll post more later if there is anything new.

No worries..........Obummer has got this.........as soon as he gets off the back nine. These nurses must have had sex with the deceased Ebola dude since we've been told over and over again it can only be transmitted through bodily fluids......why are they bothering to contact all those people on the Frontier flight......did they all have sex with the nurse........meanwhile three more planes fly into the US from Liberia and Sierra Leone

Now there is a third patient. Nina Pham's boyfriend. Works for Alcon.
The CDC will express great confidence going forward.
Alfred E. Neuman says "not to worry." My ass!

Heya DF. :2wave: Well as it stands.....Friedman has to hope all those passengers call in. They should have the attendance and who is who.

When it is highly contagious you can't be pointing fingers. The best precautions taken will still result in deaths. We had doctors and nurses infected and dead while treating SARS patients here.

Greetings, MMC. :2wave:

That is all they're showing on the three major channels here! Understandable, I guess, since everyone doesn't turn their TVs on at the same time, and it is of local concern. Our mayor, senators, governor and house reps have all either been interviewed or made statements, and the various DC agencies have al sought to reassure everyone that things are under control. Lots of pictures of people wearing masks at the Cleveland airport, though - both workers and passengers. Ironically, I was just telling Vesper earlier today that I wasn't comfortable taking a plane to go on vacation!
