The CDC should have erred on the side of caution and told the nurse not to fly.
The incompetent and impotent Texas hospital, or was it on purpose, says even more.
Very conservatives only use Unions, in a dishonest way, to blatantly lie about an issue, fear-mongering on Health and Death .
"We control our permission to come here, through visas."
I will leave it to other sovereign countries to determine what to do. We can stop more ebola-infected from coming here by denying them visas.
"Or we can do the very simple thing of refusing to grant permission for people to come here who have been to Ebla country recently."
Why do you believe this is relevant? We can do what is right. If other nations fail to do the same we can add them to Ebola country. No one has a right to travel to the United States.

Anyone who has been to Ebola country should be denied entry until after they have exceeded the incubation period of 21 days.
You caused this.
I don't think it's an accurate depiction of the CDC - there is nothing that shows the CDC is worried about impinging peoples civil rights. The CDC isn't supposed to be an activist group nor view what they do with personal rights in mind. That is for others to deal with.
Misterveritis said:"I want it to run its course in Ebola country. I do not want the US to become a part of Ebola country.
ROFLMAO Hence why it was and is in our national interests to have our military there working on infrastructure, transportation, supply control, supporting medical operations, and acting as security (also of ***transportation and people's movements***). OMG! LOLOLOL :lamo
From you actually - your post #407 which hinted at the CDC not wanting to impinge on peoples rightsIt's not the CDC's job to even consider people's civil rights. WHere did you get that from?
Lursa said:People...including apparently the CDC...seem to be very reluctant to impose on people's civil rights and it's long long been known that to curb the spread of disease, that is what it takes.
I would have thought so too but so far, Ebola has been politicized and with this new Ebola Czar who's basically a Harvard lawyer who's main accomplishment was fighting for Al Gore's voting results in Florida in 2000 - it seems Ebola will continue to be politicized in the coming weeks. The head of the CDC seems on board with that as well. Tell me if you see it different. They are to advise the govt on the disease, treatment, prevention, quarantine, period. Not the consequences of the necessary actions on civil rights.
Never said any differently. Only said we dont have control over who gets on planes to the US....or certainly not as much as we'd like.
And so we deal with them on planes or in airports here.
I am tired of you.I never said they should be allowed entry. Anywhere. Ever. Feel free to post where I did.
Yes. I am convinced that it is not in our national interest. We can prevent people from Ebola country from coming here. We have not business sending 4,000 American troops there to build field hospitals. That is their problem. It is not our problem. So, are you still convinced it's not in our national interests to have our military assist in controlling and supporting Ebola medical efforts over in Africa?
Are you claiming, indirectly, that the troops are going to seize power and prevent people from leaving Ebola country? If it becomes necessary, they can secure *people* and control transportation there. It wont be popular with their govt...but HEY! It would be in our national best interests! :doh
(I noted that you chose not to go all 'na huh' and just cut this one out completely.)

I am not surprised.
Where does that virus reside? In people. How long does it take for someone infected with Ebola to reach the point where the carrier becomes contagious?America. Land of the free, and the home of the completely terrified.
Get grip. Its a virus that you can control exposure to, not a boogeyman. You dont need to restrict travel of asyptomatic people. You dont need to be afraid to send people to Sierra Leone. You need to man up and do whats needed.

I had dinner with an aunt the other night. She's got Fox News on constantly, although CNN hasn't been any better on this issue from what I saw at my mother in law's a week ago.
Anyway, she actually got angry at me for pushing back at her irrational fears over Ebola. One example was her being terrified that my wife is flying on a plane that stops in DALLAS!!!! OH NOOOO EBOLA!!! My wife left yesterday - took along a bottle of hand sanitizer. Good advice for any flight, anywhere, at any time. She'll be fine.
It's a shame that this kind of fear mongering gets eyeballs and sells ads. Our major 'news' outlets are no better than National Enquirer anymore.
You guys are exaggerating the public's response to Ebola for some reason.
I haven't seen one perdon who fits the description of being " completely terrified " yet
Don't you worry yo lil' head one lil' bit darlin'...Iffn' thet E-bol-aye cumz here, uncle Ricky will kill it off with his six shooter!
Ya kant mess wit Texass...

Another Leftie who is supremely confident that they are immune to Ebola..... Why?
Dallas nurse Nina Pham has been declared free of the Ebola virus, the National Institutes of Health says.
