It seems the White House was hip deep in a cover-up of the involvement of one of their own in the Secret Service prostitutes-in-Colombia scandal. The young man is the son of a big Dem donor.

Aides knew of possible White House link to Cartagena, Colombia, pros...

As nearly two dozen Secret Service agents and members of the military were punished or fired following a 2012 prostitution scandal in Colombia, Obama administration officials repeatedly denied that anyone from the White House was involved.
But new details drawn from government documents and interviews show that senior White House aides were given information at the time suggesting that a prostitute was an overnight guest in the hotel room of a presidential advance-team member — yet that information was never thoroughly investigated or publicly acknowledged.
The information that the Secret Service shared with the White House included hotel records and firsthand accounts — the same types of evidence the agency and military relied on to determine who in their ranks was involved.
The Secret Service shared its findings twice in the weeks after the scandal with top White House officials, including then-White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler. Each time, she and other presidential aides conducted an interview with the advance-team member and concluded that he had done nothing wrong.
Meanwhile, the new details also show that a separate set of investigators in the inspector general’s office of the Department of Homeland Security — tasked by a Senate committee with digging more deeply into misconduct on the trip — found additional evidence from records and eyewitnesses who had accompanied the team member in Colombia. . . .

I would love to know what the Pages know.... I bet they know more than what most people give them credit for.

Was Monica Lewinsky a page or an intern?

She was an intern/secretary...

Pages are usually between the ages of 14 and 17.

Re: Aides Knew of Possible White House Link to Cartagena, Colombia, Prostitution Scan

Ah. Thanks.

Pages are also responsible for delivering sensitive documents, and I can't imagine a page wasn't just tempted once to read those documents...

Was Monica Lewinsky a page or an intern?

A DNA collector.

Re: Aides Knew of Possible White House Link to Cartagena, Colombia, Prostitution Scan

More Obama White House lies uncovered and another Obama White House cover up.

Anyone keeping track ?

Re: Aides Knew of Possible White House Link to Cartagena, Colombia, Prostitution Scan

compared to everything else that's happened to this administration, a 25 year old getting in on the fun with the rest of the gang doesn't seem like such a big deal

As with Watergate, it's not the act, it's the cover-up that injures the administration.

agreed, though I have to wonder why this one was even worth the bother of a coverup. some 25 year old intern? if they were going to punish two dozen other SS agents, it is odd that they spared this guy

Re: Aides Knew of Possible White House Link to Cartagena, Colombia, Prostitution Scan

and i don't get the "optics" angle of it.... the secret service has been associated with the oval office for a while

what - 2 dozen agents cavorting with hookers was awful, but a 25year old intern also being involved was the line that they couldn't cross?

The young man's father is a big Democrat donor, and it was before the 2012 election.

The hits just keep comin'.
This behavior, and many more important acts of coverup, are what can happen in an Administration with no fear whatsoever of scrutiny for 6 years ... and for anything that might be somehow uncovered, they knew they had a slow-walk, lying, or demonization strategy ready to achieve the same results.
I'm afraid this will be the real Obama Administration legacy ... BUT ... the damage caused by what he actually accomplished will likely be with us forever.

right, but my point is that the scandal was already as bad as it could have been - publicity wise - with the SS agents. as if anyone else in the general public would have become significantly more outraged to find out that oh by the way there was this other guy involved...

so i understand covering up for a big money donor, but this seems like one where the administration should have thrown the guy under the bus with the rest of the dismissed SS agents.

seriously how much money was this guy donating?

and i do get that all administrations will look the other way when its one of their own who gets caught in a scandal, but the ones where this administration has gone to lengths to conceal just don't make sense to me

Were other Administrations brought to power through creation of a false image of their candidate that required these kinds of neverending coverups ... great and small?

Sometimes the explanation leads to "stupid." They wanted to be able to say the WH staff was uninvolved, and they wanted to help their donor pal.

That would have made blowjobgate a lot more interesting.

Greetings, bubba. :2wave:

It's almost as if he expects to be around forever, so what happens in the meantime is not important. Americans went through the Great Depresion and Two World Wars, and we survived, and we are capable of doing so again - I hope! A lot depends on what the rest of the world decides to do about us, and that remains an unknown. We are technically bankrupt, with a debt we can't repay, since it's greater than our GDP and growing, but we keep spending because we have to, since so many depend upon government just to survive, and the world knows that, too. I feel sad for my children and grandchildren because of the mess we're leaving them, though. :boohoo:

On a positive note, the green tomatoes I picked recently when frost was predicted here are ripening, so I'm enjoying eating sliced tomatoes with dinner, and they do taste great!

I'm afraid it's way too hard to uproot Federal entitlements and they've put in a huge new one while expanding the old ones.
One hope to curb his new one is the issue about subsidies for state plans only.

Pulled up all the mato plants last weekend.
