Justice Department tellsFerguson police tostopwearing bracelets

No, it is the DOJ asking. There is a large, unsubtle difference between telling some one to do something, and asking them to do something.

Hello I'm with the department of justice, never mind we're the largest group of lawyers on the planet, have shot wome holding babies, burned dozens of children to the ground, and never gotten charged, we would like to politely as you, no pressure, just a suggestion....."

It's like when the mob asks, they don't have to threaten or claim authority, you simply do if you know what's good for you

Probably not the comparison I would have invoked, but close enough. Kinda like Obama telling congress to pass a bill I think would be a better comparison. He is certainly able to ask them to do it, but then don't have any obligation to do so. Note that I am not an expert on the bureaucracy involved, but that is my understanding anyway. In this case, the article was clear that the DOJ was asking, not telling.

No one tried to wield authority they did not have. The DOJ is perfectly within it's rights to make requests. It may not be able to order the local police to do something, but they can certainly request their cooperation on a matter.

Let me give you an analogy that may better support my concern here. Let's say the SEC or the Justice Department is investigating J P Morgan for stock manipulation or insider trading. Would it be appropriate for either body, particularly the Justice Department, to "request" that J P Morgan stop operating in a certain manner, outside of the actual investigation, but within the operations of the business? Would that not put J P Morgan in a position where if they don't comply with the "request" of a law enforcement body investigating them, that law enforcement body may look upon that non compliance unfavourably when conducting the separate investigation?

In this instance a racist is anyone who out of hand without any consideration to what actually went on assumes the worst about the white cop. The fact that the young man had just committed a strong armed and nearly killed a cop does not seem to matter to them.

Your comment is why I don't think these bands are racial in nature but related to police solidarity alone. I think there are a lot of people who think the worst of Officer Wilson because they distrust police, feel police act badly, feel police act rashly, feel police kill innocent people all the time. They're not focused on the race of the victim so much as what they see as police lawlessness.

As such, these people who ignore the facts and think the worst of the officer aren't being racist - they're being anti-police. And I believe that the wearing of these bands, but the officers, isn't support for the "white" police officer, but support for the police officer who was just doing his job.

FERGUSON Mo. (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department asked the Ferguson, Missouri, Police Department on Friday to order its officers not to wear bracelets in support of the white policeman who shot to death an unarmed black teenager last month, sparking protests.

Not going to happen, the DOJ will continue its fight against racism in the USA no matter how much that upsets a few people on the right..

If the Holder DOJ was really concerned about racism of any kind, the DOJ would've long ago cracked down on the Black on White knockout attacks.

That would be a novel definition of racist. Your post also makes suppositions and guesses based on incomplete evidence, so yes, you are taking a side instead of waiting for information.

Holy strawman! Did I say anything about racism?

Nope, I did, live with it....

I didn't, and for a good reason.

Oh come on.... tripe.

Did I say anything about Holder?

Why not, Holder is the DoJ is he not?

I didn't, and for good reason.

Yeah? And what is that? (as I look at you very skeptically with my arms crossed)

Making **** up to argue against is not a good debate tactic.

The only people making **** up about this case are those like yourself that have railed since the first report against the police, without any of the facts.

Really, saying that there is not enough evidence to know for sure who is right or wrong is now railing against the police? Do you ever not just make **** up to fit what you want to believe is true?

The filthy pigs are the biggest gang in america and large portions of them should be jailed.

Also that's hilarious and the department didn't go far enough.

Nope, just knowing you, and your end goals...See, now you've moved on to try and bait...Sorry, find another dupe.

And now pointing out my actual position is trying to bait. Fascinating. And it is amazing that you know my end goals when I don't have any for this issue, except hoping for an appropriate outcome(and hint before you make more wrong assumptions: I do not know at this time what the appropriate outcome should be, I do not have a side).

This whole topic has been fascinating in a sad kind of way. I have been called a race baiting cop hater akin to Al Sharpton, and a fascist, racist police state supporter, all because I don't believe in rushing to judgement. It is kinda sad and pathetic the way people are picking a side before the evidence is in, and then attacking any one who is not wholeheartedly supporting that position.

I don't know what you think but it looks to me like it will be a long time before there's ever any peace in Ferguson, Missouri.

What do you think?

From your link

Protesters have pledged continued civil unrest until Wilson is charged in Brown's death

Even if he's not guilty?

These folks in Ferguson don't want peace, do you think they do?

He's so obviously guilty its crazy. You would have to be a moron to believe his story...

For example why wasn't the kids Freind jailed for going for a cops gun?!?!!?

Its gonna be the Zimmerman trial all over.... A obvious racist walks in a obviously racist part of the country...

Plus the kid hit the ground n put his hands up!!!

The only thing Wilson is guilty of, is being a white cop, that shot a black dude. self defense while white is a crime to the Libbos.

Holder wouldn't have dropped the Black Panther case, neither.

No he's guilty of murder.

Why did he shoot him?

What about all the GIANT wholes in his story?

So you believe him? Let's here this argument

Waits an chuckles...

A cop with a spotless record vs. a known crook?

It's all about credibility.

You play the victim wonderfully....Do you have professional acting training?

No its not explain why he didn't arrest his Friend on the spot for going for the cops gun if that's what really happened? It was in that filthy pigs story... Wouldint he have arrested him??

And for credibility i would go with the crook. Cops are known liars.

Crooks are more likely to be honest

Oh and pay no mind to the fact that the whole department is well known to be racist...

Wait a minute....We've seen this type of mis spelling, and non logic before....Didn't you get banned from here under a different name?
