WASHINGTON (AP) - For nearly three months this summer, the Obama administration carefully avoided answering questions about what happened to tens of thousands of immigrant families caught illegally crossing the Mexican border and released into the United States with instructions to report back to immigration authorities.
Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and others said they faced deportation. But it turns out that tens of thousands of those immigrants did not follow the government's instructions to meet with federal immigration agents within 15 days. Instead, they have vanished into the interior of the U.S.
The Homeland Security Department privately acknowledged that about 70 percent of immigrant families failed to report as ordered. The disclosure came during a confidential meeting at its Washington headquarters with immigration advocates participating in a federal working group on detention and enforcement policies.
The Associated Press obtained an audio recording of Wednesday's meeting and separately interviewed participants.
On the recording, the government did not specify the total number of families released into the U.S. since October. Since only a few hundred families have already been returned to their home countries and limited U.S. detention facilities can house only about 1,200 family members, the 70 percent figure suggests the government released roughly 41,000 members of immigrant families who subsequently failed to appear at federal immigration offices.
The official, who was not identified by name on the recording, also said final deportation had been ordered for at least 860 people traveling as families caught at the border since May but only 14 people had reported as ordered.


The Homeland Security Department did not dispute the authenticity of the recording.

Surprised? No. Shocked? No. I'm sure the US INS and the White House knew this exactly would happen and possibly even hoped it would happen. What this shows is that the administration knew these people wouldn't show up for a deportation hearing so of course they would not register and report as ordered. It's silly to expect otherwise. It also shows that Homeland Security and the White House who have avoided (according to the article) at least 7 times to address this issue has failed to enforce US law. For that - they need to be held accountable.
 
Time for a change in the WO and Congress.

Thats because these progressives in government want them here.

When an illegal immigrant family gets caught - they're given an immigration hearing date then turned loose and expected to show up for on the date set for the hearing - of course they never do, and there is no way to find them..

Clearly the government WANTS them to be here.

It's not only that tho - any illegal alien that makes it past border security is basically "home free" even if local authorities pick them up for anything, any crime there is nothing they can do about it. Local authorities don't have the power to deport them an INS wont take them.

The bureaucracy is stunning.

Now, the powers that be are really really stupid or they want open borders.

Under Obama "deportations" are considered those deported when caught at the border by border patrol - under all other presidents "deportation" was considered those who made it well past the boarder and actually lived in the United States.

Oh another problem with that graph is the FACT that illegal immigration to the US has tripled since Obama took office. The reason for that being that our government wont do a damn thing to anyone who is caught at the border besides hold them for an hour then bus them back across the border while portraying them as a "deportation" to inflate those graph statistics. Of course the illegal alien will just try again, and if caught they may bet "banned" from the US for 2-3 years or so, as if that really matters, considering if they're caught again by border patrol they will just get banned from the US for more time but quickly deported.

So basically an individual could get deported numerous times without consequence while the statistics inflate.
 
I'm guessing they didn't show since they made it back from where they came. /sarc

Don't overreact, changing Congress would put Democrats in charge of the House. Some here would be very dismayed by that!

The House is only good for writing checks.

Besides the democrats could very well lose the Senate (I think they will) and republicans will certainly keep the house.

"Democrats" er the paid voters tend to not show during mid-terms, because there isn't enough money to pay these people to vote - hence the democrat turnout is poor.

I admit my post was not specific enough.

All pro illegal immigrations supporters who are in the House or Senate or are running need to be removed by the voters.

The time for a Change in Congress is to stop the pro illegal immigration stance some elected officials have.

Well, ideally I would want more libertarians in government, however the RINO's have done a good job smashing us every time we attempt to run for office so that isn't going to happen. Of course Tea Party conservatives are my second choice and there are plenty of them - the problem is that they have to run as "republican."

So yeah, when I say "republican" I don't mean "RINO" (who are just as bad as progressives) but I mean Tea Party/Libertarians, whom for some messed up reason have to run as republicans because the general public is too stupid to understand the Libertarian or Tea Party platform, thanks to RINO's and progressives.

All of north and Central America should be a border free zone. We should also have a single currency and a single legislature. Makes zero sense to draw arbitrary lines in the sand.

So as someone who isn't a Republican, why do you get to decide who's a "real" Republican? Maybe the people who "for some messed up reason have to run as republicans" are the RINOs, since they're only adopting the name for convenience.

Just because someone calls themselves a "republican" doesn't mean they are.

For example: how many politicians flipped parties?

All I will say is that anyone who wants to govern your life is an asshole authoritarian. If you're not physically hurting anyone else then it is none of their damn business what you do or I do...

Heck, Hillery even said "the people are too dumb to know what they want" - do you really want a clown like that running this country? a clown that looks down at you as if you're some sort of retard or a pretentious aristocratic bitch that thinks shes better than you?

Politicians are no better than anyone else.

But you didn't answer the question: You say you're not a Republican - why would a non-Republican get to decide what the Republican party stands for?

Because I am a classical liberal er old Republican..... Republicans these days (especially during the 90's) destroyed everything Republicans stand for.

I'm a Republican in the 19th century sense... Hell even up to the 60's..
