US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria[W:354]

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

With the immediate cry from many that the US supports dictators?

No, no. Can't have that, the cry is raised. So I guess turmoil such as what we now have in the ME is better?

But No! It's not! Is now the cry. Well folks, you can't have it both ways.

Either you support, or at least not depose, limit and manage these dictators, or you wade in depose them and have to accept the results such as this.

You can't have it both ways. The two choices are mutually exclusive.

Ummm...there is a third option.

Leave them the 'f' alone and have America mind it's own business.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

Good morning, MMC. :2wave:

I do recall that Senator Feinstin, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, was outraged a few weeks ago that she was not told about what was going on, and publically stated so! Apparently BHO doesn't trust the high-ranking officials in his own party either! So much for transparency that was promised!

Greetings Pogara! :2wave:

This administration was never ever transparent. Not from it's first day. That was just little more than a silly and transparent campaign promise to the ObamaBots to cheer about.

On his first full day in office, President Barack Obama ordered federal officials to “usher in a new era of open government” and “act promptly” to make information public.
As Obama nears the end of his term, his administration hasn’t met those goals, failing to follow the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act, according to an analysis of open-government requests filed by Bloomberg News.
Nineteen of 20 cabinet-level agencies disobeyed the law requiring the disclosure of public information: The cost of travel by top officials. In all, just eight of the 57 federal agencies met Bloomberg’s request for those documents within the 20-day window required by the Act.
“When it comes to implementation of Obama’s wonderful transparency policy goals, especially FOIA policy in particular, there has been far more ‘talk the talk’ rather than ‘walk the walk,’” said Daniel Metcalfe, director of the Department of Justice’s office monitoring the government’s compliance with FOIA requests from 1981 to 2007.
The Bloomberg survey was designed in part to gauge the timeliness of responses, which Attorney General Eric Holder called “an essential component of transparency” in a March 2009 memo. About half of the 57 agencies eventually disclosed the out-of-town travel expenses generated by their top official by Sept. 14, most of them well past the legal deadline.
Obama Cabinet Flunks Disclosure Test With 19 in 20 Ignoring Law - Bloomberg

If anything, this administration is the most lawless administration ever, just ignoring the laws that it doesn't like. If anything, this is what we've seen time and time again.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

So you are (apparently) comparing Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan as remotely similar threats to America as ISIS (which has about 10,000 troops, mostly in pickup trucks with NO air power)?

Noted.

Ron Paul says it much better then I can.

You have a problem with it - take it up with him as I really do not much care what you think about this.

Good day.

You keep making silly statements and ending with "Good Day." What are you a Paul Harvey wanna be?

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

Its common, as if these are semi-animate beings who dont have their own reasons for doing things. These people think they know whats happening because they read New Yorker magazine, listen to NPR, and vote democrat. :doh

You were making good points until you implied the blanket statement that dems would not know what is going on or be for military action. I say blow the f***kers off the face of the earth.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

All I can say is this latest round of Obama military aggression sure does make fools of that Danish D'Salsa movie maker idiot and the many fools who thought that farce was a good documentary, depicting Obama as a puppet sent here by radical liberals to destroy American hegemony due to his Kenyan anti-colonialism. What a herd of dumb asses.
Not at all..considering obama has weakened US standing in the world this campaign is not meant to do anything but distract and cover. Its cheap political campaigning and you fall for it.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

Obama WAS keeping a small presence in Iraq to keep the peace but it exploded anyway.

Dubya's doctrine was to support a corrupt government under Maliki which made ISIS possible, I may dislike Obama but he was strictly following Dubya's policy on this.

So Dubya is as much to blame for getting the US into this mess as Obama has. If Saddam Hussein had stayed in power this wouldnt have happened. All Dubya did was replace a brutal dictator who tortured his own people with a group of sadistic terrorists who are exporting their war internationally- Bush Jr. has done more to help terrorists than any previous president and Obama is just as bad.

Heya PoS. :2wave: Uhm when did Maliki get Elected? Also when did BO know about ISIL?

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

ISIS exists at its present strength and holding territory because of the vacuum created with the US withdrawal. They were able to move into and out of Syria as gains were made by Assad, and they figured out they could go wild with the place.

I like how you keep forgetting that Al Malicki had no interest in providing a place in his government for the Sunnies which has a lot to do with the situation.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

I agree, there is plenty of blame to go around. Perhaps without President's Obama's fetish about getting rid of Assad, letting him put down the threat to his government, ISIS certainly would never have become this strong and maybe just had been a foot note in history.

How has doing away with Qaddafi worked in Libya? Libya now has many tribes fighting each other, has become a place for terrorist training camps, it is pure chaos and turmoil. Is this success? Letting the pain in the butt Saddam remain in power in Iraq, ISIS wouldn't have come charging in.

I asked this before and will ask it again and again, does anyone in Washington ever do an assessment of what may happened once we remove these dictators? What and whom may replace them.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

I just read that the White House did reluctantly inform Assad that air strikes would be taking place in Syria, contrary to BHO's initial downright refusal to do so. It seems that worldwide condemnation of his arrogance toward a sovereign nation did cause a change of thinking. When I look at the countries in the "coalition," I don't see many faces friendly toward the US. This seems to indicate that although they have fought amongst themselves for a thousand years due to religious reasons, they will stick together when "their ox is being gored" by ISIS, and use us to fight their battles for them. I wish I could say the same for our ""allies," who apparently don't agree with what we're doing, and will only provide humanitarian aid to the non-combatants who are being harmed. Bad mess all around, because if it doesn't succeed, we'll be held responsible!

Sunnies caused the problem that we had to go in for before. Now theyre all of the sudden trustworthy?

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

You think I'm bright :)

As far as everything else, I guess we'll know later one when the US does there after action press briefings. I have to admit though, using F22 Raptors, the world's first 5th generation fighter and perhaps the best fighter in the world, does seem like a bit of overkill against a group like ISIS.

But a great way to show off our new toys to Mr. Macho Putin. What was it the head of the laufwaffe said to Hitler when Hitler asked him what he needed? A spitfire?

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

I'm all for going after these cockroaches, and I know it's a horribly difficult prospect to do so.

But I'm certain this will be entirely ineffective, and now Obama wants to arm the very people he laughed off a few weeks ago. This will serve only to arm ISIS further as they defeat this "army" we support and confiscate the weapons we provide. This will only exacerbate the problem.

Worse still, this is just conveniently timed for the elections in November. A big campaign strategy is at the root of this whole thing. Nice that Obama uses our military in that fashion these days.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

Seeing that a number of Arab states, including Qatar participated, I have to give a lot of credit to Secretary of State Kerry. None of these states was onboard for military action during the President's speech. UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia are core Arab allies. Jordan is a strategic ally and had recently been threatened by ISIS. The one surprise for a lack of participation is Kuwait.

That doesn't surprise me and it's very disappointing considering ol' man Bush saved their asses and americans died for their cause.

Maybe you are right, we wont ever know. But what we DO know is we have a sitting President who's made a long series of bad decisions to get us here. He lost the Peace, and clearly is STILL making very stubborn and piss-poor plans.

It's a given ISIS would have ended up in wood chippers. Considering saddam was sunnie and the sunnies were in power, your statement is ridiculous.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

Those like US Conservative are waiting. They are waiting to see how to criticize Obama for this action. Either he will bomb too much or too little. They haven't decided which way to go to get the maximum blame toward this administration.

This is what modern conservatism is all about. And nothing else.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

People like US Conservative care more about their ideology than they do our country. They would be willing to sacrifice untold numbers of our military in order to satiate their hatred of Obama.

Really.....and how long did you say you had been a Practicing Psychologist. I heard some in the Syrian Rebels were learning how to drive a tank.

Nice to see your partisan agenda trumps your support of an American military mission and CIC. "I won't work! It won't work!" Jesus listen to your self deprecating whining.

And furthermore the right was pleading the president to do something. Now some like yourself are complaining he is. WTF?

Add to the fact that D'Souza has been convicted of a felony and you can see why he is darling of the Right. He's got all the elements: Obamaphobia, Counterfactuality, Criminal Record. That's what makes a conservative intellectual.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

That Obama is one terrorist killin' mo' fo'.

They messed with the wrong guy.

You don't need to be a shrink to know hyper partisanship when you see it. For God's sake man get real.

Up until some airplanes hit buildings on our shores? Or even after that?

These guys aren't going to quit. They are viewing this as a generational conflict, and we need to start treating it as such as well, lest we always get caught on our back foot.

Was the same with bin laden. When our CIC says you'll pay you'll pay. We'll hunt you down.

Re: US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria

It will be soon. No thanks to Bush and Cheney putting the entire region into utter chaos with their failed conservative jingoism.

Sorry, What? What did Bush and Cheney do in Syria? Don't you suppose the uprising in Syria had more to do with the Libyan and Egyptian revolutions? Who armed and is arming the Syrian rebels, Cheney?
