Australia raids foil reported ISIS beheading plots

How about that it's entirely one sided and we gain nothing from it?

Aside from an ally to keep China from gobbling you up in the next 20 years?

America tried that line as a reason for us to get involved in Vietnam. I don't buy that Australians need to die so that America can protect us from a theoretical future boogeyman.

Having the U.S.A as a strong ally is an important part of Australia’s national interest Spud. Perhaps this alliance should be a part of Australia’s defence policy rather than base the policy around it.

The ADF is not large enough to protect our borders if required Spud. We don't currently have the resources to defend ourself without US support.

We should be making regional military alliances and increasing the technical capability of the ADF. America acts in its own self interest, all we get from the ANZUS Treaty is offensive wars and lopsided trade agreements. I'm nit saying sever all ties with the US, but Australia needs to stand on its own and get rid of the dependence on foreign power we've has since Federation

That seems like a problem. Perhaps Australia needs to address it.

And this has ZERO to do with ISIS, how about you go derail another thread?

Lol...yes, Neocons don't much like the U.S. hypocrisy when it comes to Saudi Arabia. ISIS are evil and must be destroyed because they treat their people so badly.
Yet, Saudi Arabia treat their people little better and yet they are supported by America.
That IS hypocrisy.

You don't like me pointing that out...tough.

Besides, if your threads are so weak that they get 'derailed' by facts and free speech, they are not worth starting, IMO.

Good day.

Didn't the Russian get attacked? They aren't world policemen.

Russians are imperialists- they occupied Chechnya and Afghanistan so attacks against them are a direct consequence of those actions.

Good day.

You idol is president right now buddy, why don't you ask him why he isn't bombing the **** out of Saudi Arabia huh? Yeah you won't do that. Hypocrisy is a habit of yours.

Well the report may not be confirmed by I believe there is concern given the state of our border policy.

So now you can't back up your statement that ISIL is in Mexico.
You base your statement on a partisan view of border policy .

Another accusation on border polic designed to play the GOP scare tactic.
Where do you guys hear this stuff ?
Me too. Wasn't it reported that people have been found crossing from over 100 countries and most of them are not from South America?

I think it's still indeterminant. The Senate is debating a bill to secure passports of known ISIL members so they can't return.

Prove it with a link or recant the GOP scare tactic .

They don't need to be in Mexico, they are already in the United States. Who are the 2-3 dozen Americans currently in Syria fighting for the terrorists? They could just as easily decide to attack Americans.

Or how about the 366 British muslims that went to Syria to fight? It would only take several of these to conspire to commit another attack like the London subway attack. The GOP are the only ones talking about the seriousness of this, your side always prefers to sit on its thumbs until something happens.

Well, that's good news about them getting foiled in Australia.

But so many questions has to be addressed.

We better be reminded that there are home-grown terrorists and recruits in our midst. Most likely the terrorists will not come from other places going through our airports and customs....they're here with us.

Are there any other places around the world that's got plans such as this? They want to bring the horror on our soil - so citizens who only read about these beheadings happening in far away places wouldn't be feeling so far away from it.....that security is gone now.

Think about the soldier who was killed in the streets in England last year - IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, ON A BUSY STREET. It wasn't a beheading but the result is the same. Where were the cops to stop it? They were unarmed. Too late for the victim.

Home invasion could take on a new meaning! Sure it hasn't happened yet....but the real possibility and likelihood is there. Should we disarm the population at a time like this?

This was reported in the special Hannity did at the border with Gov. Perry.

I am sure there is a video somewhere about it.

Apparently that's all been called into question now.

Nice dodge.

Hey, it's up to you guys... democracy and all that jazz. A lot of us get tired of playing world cop anyway.

Fact is, all the Western (and Western-related) nations are somewhat dependent on our network of alliances for our security. Sometimes this gets all of us involved in things that aren't necessarily "our fight"... but we're stronger together than we are separately.

Then call you hero Obama and tell him to start bombing.

My hero huh?

I guess this is what you've devolved to into your own thread.

Then don't bitch about SA, just leave it alone.

Well, I think he should, and so should Bush (your idol) have. Right after fifteen Saudis attacked us on 9/11.

I don't care what they are doing D. :2wave: If they support ISIS.....and they open their mouths at any time around others. Then let them face the consequences of their own actions.
As it is written.....Let it be so!

What goes around, comes around.

Bush isn't the President, did you miss the last two elections?
