Girl, 11, told by school not to wear 9/11 T-shirt

Faux outrage is the best.

Seems like stories like get your blood all ginned up. Take some pills, you are all "angried" up.

You can't write comedy this funny.

I have to give conservatives some credit, only one of them fell for this story. I guess even Fox can't fool all conservatives all the time.

Girl, 11, told by school not to wear 9/11 T-shirt | Fox News

Published September 14, 2014

The stepdaughter of a U.S. veteran was told last week that she was not allowed to wear to school a T-shirt to honor the men and women who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

This thread didn't work out so well for you. Aren't you getting tired of this happening to you all the time?

When was there a Navy thread that did work out well for him? If there was one, it happened before I joined the forum.

How dare the school dress code prevent my son from wearing his Assassination of Julius Caesar memorial shirt.

So what?

There is a school uniform.

If people can where different shirts whenever they feel like it then there will no longer be a school uniform.

If the father doesn't like it, then he should put his child in another school.

The little girl is not going to drop dead if she does not wear her 9/11 t-shirt to school...she can put it on when she gets home.

Sheesh.

How quickly the left forgets 9/11..........Next it will be the 6,000,000 jews butchered in ww2

Well, quite frankly I haven't seen anybody greedy, or tacky enough to try to capitalize on the deaths of 6 million Jews by selling T-shirts.

At the very end he explains it, basically the MLB has a dress code that you could only wear the hats they were selling online. (which is why I brought it up here, as it was a dress code thing.) Back in 2001, a week after 9/11, they tried to stops the Mets from wearing the hats of first responders, but quickly gave up on that idea when everyone had a crap storm over that. Yankees did it as well during the World Series, and again the MLB tried to stop it again but quickly gave up. On the tenth anniversary, I guess they decided that enough was enough.

I am sorry for the delay on replying to this as I had to kinda think about it some to give you an answer, and even then, the answer is not going to be satisfying. MLB had every right to do as it did, and was probably to an extent required to do so contractually. However, for something like that, where it is still a uniform uniform(if you see what I mean), I would have liked them to have come up with their compromise position much earlier. To an extent I would have liked to see the school have come to a compromise with the girl and any one else who wanted to do something similar. However, I tend to come down on the side of evenly enforcing the rules in most situations, so I do not have a real problem with MLB or the school in this case.

Not the best answer, but like alot of things, there are two sides to a story, and both sides do have so merit to their positions.

This is a private school with uniforms. The parents signed up for this, they knew the rules. Live with your choices folks!

People on the right are not into political correctness my left wing friend........we cherish 9/11tshirts.

NP. You got pwned BADLY in this thread. Show some honesty and admit you were wrong.

I know your a lefty and believe every word someone on the left says is gospel but even you can't defend this.

You were wrong, NP. Show some honesty and admit it.

Come on, NP. Show us all that you are not a right wing hack. Admit that you were wrong.

A dog would sooner see color.

I know. His lack of honesty even when exposed is on display for everyone to see. A non-hack admits when they are wrong. Hacks do not.

Some people, like Navy Pride for example, will dig mighty deep to find something to complain about.

I went to the link and NP's complaints have no foundation - this school requires all of its students to wear uniforms. Think about that a little bit.

Not if your step parent is a vet, then you can practically wear anything you want to or not wear. She should also not be forced to wear the school uniform like all the other students. As a matter of fact she shouldn't even have to attend school on days she doesn't feel like she needs to.

Beware the ides of March!

For a day that affected the lives of so many Americans, I think they could of bent the rules. They did say that they do have free days, I think they could of just made that one of them... or maybe like a ribbon or something be allowed.

Don't let them goat you Navy...we know that little girl has the right to wear a 9/11 t-shirt, or a I love Jesus, or a Santa Clause t shirt if she wants...this is America.

Anybody can do what ever they like. No Rules...right Navy. We don't need no stinking rules.

The school was right, Navy. They have uniform standards and can't even break them for 9/11 remembrances.

I am, however, confused by all of the posts claiming this is "Fox outrage" and all of that. I see no evidence of "outrage" or anything else coming from the Fox article. There is no opining on anything and no accusations similar to what Navy made in his OP (left and political correctness, etc.). Fox wasn't the only outlet to report on this story. Those of you attacking Navy by denigrating Fox are just as guilty as he is of making false claims.

Wow, sounds like you don't like vets! Yeah, screw them! What have they done for us?

This is deserving of a "Hack Knight Award"

Why even run the story? There isn't one.

You'll have to ask Fox and all of the other outlets that ran the story.

Yes, I think it was a story. The kid wanted to wear something, and the school has a policy against it. I think we've seen these kinds of stories before. How about the recent story about the little girl who was suspended after she shaved her head to show solidarity with her friend who has cancer? That was a story - and it had a thread on here.

Once you cut through all the false hyperbole, you find a uniform. No story here.

So you're saying that kids shouldn't respect the rules of their school and should just do what they want, huh? Interesting form of "responsibility".
