More than 100 teens swarm Memphis plaza, 'knocking out' shoppers

Absolutely, and dead on point with what I trying to say in this thread. But, others want to say that there's no chance. That they cannot succeed. that they are all doomed to the cycle of poverty and despair. They even post charts and graphs and give links to studies to try to prove their point. It's truly sad.

I agree with you. I also see that there is a cycle of poverty and despair, and not everyone is able to find the strength or that one leg up to climb out of it, and I feel for them. Please don't consider that any excuse for this crap we just saw in Memphis.

It is well known that blacks, in general, have lower IQs than Whites and Asians.......yet they have been told for a generation that they are just as smart and can perform on the same level........when their real world experiences tell them the opposite. This leads to huge cognitive dissonance........which causes them to lash out against Whites who they perceive, deep down, to be smarter and better looking and more successful

Wtf!!!!!!!!

Stormfront drive-by. Put him on ignore.

This disproves what I said... How???

People that makes statements like yours, are the primary reason that those kids never get out of poverty.

If a kid is continually told that he/she has no chance, that the system is rigged against them, that other races are keeping them down, then that kid begins to believe that there is no hope, and without hope, they give up, and when they give up... they fulfilled the prophecy that you have set for them.

Again, I don't buy into that. The cycle can be broken. It has been broken by many of all races and ethnicities. Preaching what you are condoning is a major part of why more do not. Stop the cycle - don't perpetuate it.

because I'm sure those kids pay close attention to statistics and discussions about economic mobility and class distinctions.

I answered your question, just not in a way that allowed you proceed in your normal manner.

This is the "ExCon response"

Refuse to answer a question and declare that you have answered the question. But I'll keep asking

Which specific culture are you referring to?

Ahh, the "That's not what I said" defense

Thing is, it is what you said.

"Those kids"??

Which kids are you talking about specifically.

What passes as acceptable culture of this country is going to hell.

I'll ask again, which specific culture are you talking about? Which culture is accepting this?

They are, in many cases, being taught that they are victims of a society that will never value them no matter what they do.

Does society value them? I'd sure hate to be a 20 year old right now.

Them who? Black kids? Yeah, just like anybody else. If they act in a way that's valuable to society then they are valued. If they act like punks then no, they aren't valued.

Oh, by the way, that isn't a black/white thing. It's a anybody thing.

None of the kids I know would ever behave in this manner. I think they're a product of their subculture. And I don't mean just one specific race. Uneducated white trailer trash in a different part of the country would act in much similar ways.

Do you have any examples of white trailer trash coordinating with other white trailer trash in order to commit crimes? :unsure13:

Dare to be racist. It really doesn't take that much imagination.

That's funny because things were so much better when I was 20. I was valued with a good paying job. These kids are valued with a 20 hour a week job at $8 an hour and then get told they are lazy pieces of crap because they live at home with their parents.

You live in a dream world. Life really sucks for a 20 year old living in 2014. Go back to your fantasy. There is no room for you in reality.

If saying that both inner city blacks and white trailer trash are going to be more prone to this kind of behavior makes me a racist, then so be it. I am a racist. I hate both races. Happy?

How many people have you hired that were born after 1988?

Nope. White trailer trash doesn't do stuff like this. EVER!!!!! Give me an example.

I know that you feel better about yourself when you lie but try to tell the truth sometimes. Telling the truth sucks really bad.

Black criminals are way more organized than white criminals.

Keep trying if you wish since you have a special pass to act like you do here for some reason. However, there is no causal relationship between the two statements because in one I was referring to my opinion and in the other I was referring to the opinion of others which influences others.

I wouldn't get so ****ing frustrated that you get away with this **** if you were some dumbass, but you're not, and that means you intentionally misapply and misdirect to get your ****ing jollies. And that infuriates me, so go play with someone else, if you can't debate in a reasonable way that does not include what is described in that cartoon I posted.

Google "hate crimes against gays"

In white trailer trash culture people commit crimes because they are lazy and completely good for nothing. The white trailer trash knows they are good for nothing and can only survive by committing crimes.

In black ghetto culture defiance of the law is honorable and something to be respected as an admirable life choice.

WAY DIFFERENT!!!:failpail:

Would you like a gold star for being the least racist person that has ever lived? or Do you want a corresponding prize for being the most dishonest with your observation of the world? You get both prizes.

Greetings, Beaudreaux. :2wave:

What makes it sad is that it is often an excuse used to cover the real reasons - didn't bother to finish high school; didn't bother to learn a skill by watching how others did it, if they couldn't attend a trade school; didn't bother learning how to write a resume, or the correct way to dress and/or act during an interview; didn't bother to work on correcting a bad attitude toward life in general; and more. Those who do succeed, and there are many, do so by showing personal initiative, not by using excuses.

Yes, because those 100 teens really pay attention to stats and discussions about income mobility and class distinctions

But I wonder if you'll ever realize that you're using the same "Society made them do it" excuse that you condemn others for using.

I doubt it.

Request denied.

How many people have you hired that were born after 1988?

None recently. Of course the flip side is that I haven't had any apply in the last several years. I'll also add that of the 20-30y/o people I've hired in the past every one of them wanted some kind of special accommodation because they were:
1. A single parent with a kid in school
2. Working multiple jobs to make ends meet/support a spouse who was in school
3. Were only taking the job until "something better" came along

Since you brought it up, 20 years ago I was in the retail business and we hired LOTS of 20-30 year olds. We had the same issues then though less single parents. The number 1 issue above was a 4 or 5 back then and the number 1 then was drinking and/or drugs related.

Hmm.....maybe a lot of those #1's from 20 years ago are the parents of today's #1's.

How are the young people doing that did finish high school? How are the young people doing that did bother to learn a skill by watching how others did it? How are the young people doing that did attend trade school? How are the young people doing that did learn how to write a resume*? How are the young people doing that did dress/act correctly during an interview? How are the young people doing that did correct their bad attitude toward life in general? That's a very nice observation of how the world worked in 2007. This is 2014. Things are way different.

*All young people know how to write resumes even better than their older counterparts.

Were only taking the job until "something better" came along

That's fine. Cross your fingers and hope that nothing better comes along. After all. You value them. Right? Maybe they can live a life of poverty for 20 years instead of 1 year. :bravo:

It would be horrific if they found a better job. Why not just be the better job and save everybody the trouble?

Look, I don't know who the **** you are or what I ever did to make you feel you can talk to me like this, or if you have me confused with someone else, but you can take your attitude and go **** yourself.

Interesting thought process....

I have an accounting practice. It's a small office which gives me a good bit of flexibility with employees. If I hire someone for $12/hr to answer phones and make sure mail gets out that doesn't mean that they can't learn how to handle other tasks. I have taught some of them how to do basic bookkeeping and with that single skill they can take on a role that pays a percentage of the monthly billing for any client they work on. The more they can do the more money they can make. I also don't dissuade them from bringing in more business. If they bring in an account they'll make an even bigger percentage. Hell, I don't even require them to have a college degree....or even a GED. If they can do the work they can make the money.

Would you like to guess how many of these poor, "undervalued" 20-30 year olds have taken me up on those options? Would you like to guess how many stuck with it for more than a year even if they did take me up on the offer?

If they act in a way that's valuable to society then they are valued.

In what way is that? I hear that low paying part time jobs that demand flexibility* of the employee are in high demand. This would be very valuable to the employer in my opinion. This type of behavior would be very valuable to the consumer purchasing cheap products and services from your company. This would be valuable to the taxpayer because you don't need government because you are forced to live with your parents. Is this what you mean by being valuable? I completely understand but I don't see how this is good for the individuals who submit to being this shining example of a valuable and worthwhile citizen.

*That means you can't get a second job. They need you to be available at any time.
