Moscow (AFP) - Islamic State militants have issued a threat to President Vladimir Putin, vowing to oust him and "liberate" the volatile North Caucasus over his support of the Syrian regime.

Good. Let's see how Putin deals with these militant a-holes.

I have no trouble with sitting back and watching that unfold.

When one makes wise choices, one makes many enemies.

3 weeks ago they said that they would march on Rome, conquer Vienna and march on Spain.

Yeah they are dangerous, but I would also say that they are delusional over what their capacities actualy are.

I for one am happy that the Israelis flew airstrikes against that Syrian nuclear reactor, that was thought to be part of a nuclear weapons program, 10 years ago.

Imagine IS in control of that.

Seeing Putin is the single most reponsible person for the nish that allowed IS to grow in that sounds ungrateful.

IS still has a shot at atomic weapons in Pakistan.

"Imagine IS in control of that"

sucks to be them, no one would take that chance. We'd bomb the bomb and watch it explode in their faces.

Yeah right.

By simply marching through Iran and Afghanistan...

Or will they somehow grow magic wings and fly into Pakistan?

Or will the paki nukes grow wings and fly to Syria?

I think it would be pretty funny to watch ISIS get creamed by its own crap (detonating a nuke in the heart of ISIS makes me smile).

Basically this, Iran would ROFLstomp ISIS.

That post gets my eleventh like (once I get off the iPad and get on the comp...)

Naw. They can grow a local branch.

You honestly don't see the danger of terrorists taking possession of atomic material or even weapons in Pakistan? Interesting.

I honestly don't. It would only hurt them more, WAY more ( I don't think a nuke blowing up in your face is going to help you in any way...)

Talk about stupid. These ISIS boys is just full of stupid. :) Something tells me Puti Poo is going be mounting THEIR heads on sticks with a smile.

Lots of terrorists have wrapped themselves in bombs and blown themselves up. They would have done more damage, had the bombs been nuclear.

They do not have the capacity to do those things... now. But they are growing exponentially and their financial capacity is already enormous, and getting greater with every oil field they capture.

Sure, right now there's no way they can make good on those threats. However, given time and a less than enthusiastic bent to go at them head to head on the ground, they will only get stronger.

To conquer them will take ground forces, and a long, LONG, time given that they can recruit from around the world for replacement jihadists.

Putin has supported the Ba'athists / Assad regime for many years now; Syria hosts (afaik) the only Russian base on the Mediterranean.

It's not much of a surprise that IS would toss some rhetoric in Russia's direction. The real question is whether Russia will actually do anything about it, other than send more weapons to Assad's forces, and continue to thwart UN action against the Assad regime.

Oh nice. Now we need to support IS because they have decided to take Russia on.

And lots of blood and money!

And lots of blood and money!

Money can be replaced, the blood cannot. However, they have made it clear that they will continue to spill more and more blood regardless of what we do, and have sworn to do so here in the US at some point in time. I believe them. Once that happens, it will take a lot more blood to stop them than it would to do so now. So, blood will be spilled and lost either way - better to minimize than to wait to the point that it's worse.

Yes well, pity that we advance policy in the ME that gives rise to these militant Islamists. So now then here we go again battling a crisis we have helped to create or enabled. Maybe Putin will take care of this one, now that they appear to have threatened him as well.

Apparently ISIS hasn't been keeping up with current events in Eastern Europe.

Putin isn't a spineless nancy like Obama. He'll walk all over them.
