The Justice Department will open a broad civil rights investigation into police practices in Ferguson, Mo, where a white police officer killed an unarmed black teenager last month and set off days of racially charged unrest, the cities police chief and other officials said Wednesday.

The results of this investigation will be interesting, but I doubt that they will surprise many black people in Missouri.

I hope it spreads to police practices all over the country. Major change is needed to restore integrity to the police profession.

It also wouldn't surprise me if there was no wrongdoing or anything bad, just move along folks, nothing to see here. /sarcasm off

LOL !!

So the Gentle Giants civil rights apparently were NOT violated ?

It appears the Justice department knows exactly what happened and they've decided there's NO CASE against Darren Wilson so they've moved on to a generic investigation of Police behaviour instead.

Ridiculous. If Eric Holder wasn't such a Race hustlers himself he would be investigating the people who helped whip this thing up into a frenzy.

Add to that the DoJ's insistence that the convenience store tape not be released in a timely manner which may have quelled some of the violence.

Isn't that special, a federal investigation means Brown's rights were not violated, and there's no case against Wilson, oh what an amazing deduction.

The DoJ once did an investigation on the police in my hometown. The only difference between that and this was that we didn't fuss about it (nor even the situation before that made them investigate) and a solution was made after the investigation supported our case.

Ferguson was dumb. Everyone in Ferguson is dumb.

From the link:

Missouri N.A.A.C.P. leaders lodged another Justice Department complaint against the St. Louis County Police Department last year, accusing its officers of engaging in widespread racial profiling in an attempt to crack down on crime in and around the South County Center, a shopping mall.

Mr. Pruitt said one of the incidents referred to in the complaint involved two white officers who arrested 145 black men and women in a 30-day period in the mall area for outstanding warrants.

“We determined that the stops were not legitimate stops,” Mr. Pruitt said. “They stopped them because they were black. The question is, how many blacks did they have to go through to find 145 with warrants?

If you have complaints of blacks committing crimes in an area then who, other than blacks in the area, would you consider as likely suspects to stop? We go through stops/searches of millions of airline passengers to catch a handful of "terrorists" and consider that a rational practice. It should be the responsibility of the NAACP to know the ratio of stops to arrests if that is the basis of their "profiling" complaint. If you have an arrest warrant (or citizen complaint) then you know the age, race and basic description of the person sought - you do not stop old white ladies if you are looking for a young black male.

It's a " BROAD " investigation into overall Police practices.

NOT a specific investigation into Darren Wilsons actions because they know the truth. They've interviewed CREDIBILE witnesses.

Its their way of placating the idiots who jumped to conclusions and nothing will come of it

We should also invite the UN to come in and investigate. We did receive a warning from them.

Yea, Obama and the Democrats wanted to campaign over the dead body of Michael Brown and that video stopped that treachery in its tracks.

Thats the only reason why the DOJ didn't want it released.

They would STILL be pushing the whole " Gentle Giant good kid murdered by a evil Cop " false narrative if it hadn't

This case is a long ways from being over.

What kind of people are you talking about? People like you or the other side of the aisle?

Fill us in.

You mean our racist justice department?

It seems Holder only cares when it's some black individual getting killed or beat up or intimidated, however when it's a black person doing the same nonsense to a white that racist Holder looks the other way.

And they call his office the Department of Justice - what a crock when Holders department focuses on everything BUT justice - their whole scam is retribution NOT justice.

I suppose this is what you get when you elect a "social justice" activist aka racist and let him appoint other racists to head key departments within government.

Yes, protesters, rioters snd and looters ( and the Washington Redskins...morons ) were all upset over Officer Darren Wilson's eye injury....

And the fact that Dorian Johnson just told them a big fat lie.

YES.

He's was a race hustlers even when he worked for Janet Reno.

He used to shake down and extort banks for not providing " equal credit ".

Well, he is STILL shaking down and extorting banks.

Suppose whatever you want to suppose, it will have zero effect on reality.

Maybe - that still doesn't change the fact Holder is a blatant racist.....

Holder is only further creating a racial divide. But you know, racists like him need racial tension so they have something to complain about.

To bring charges, prosecutors must show that Officer Wilson intended to violate Mr. Brown’s civil rights when he opened fire and that he did so willfully — meaning he knew it was wrong but fired anyway

That could be a little difficult to prove. It doesn't appear that Wilson ever had any charges of racism or civil rights violations filed against him in 8 years as a police officer.

Hopefully what the end result of this investigation will be is the replacement of the 50 white officers on the force with 50 minorities/black officers. Then the problem will be gone.

You just mastered Logic 101 but I fear that nobody cares about your accurate assessment.

That was called the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) - and was signed by Bill Clinton.

That bill was disgusting - it pretty much made "credit" a "right" for minorities er made lenders responsible for welfare rather than welfare through government channels...

^^ That is a thread within itself...

How do you actually think we ended up with all these banks failing? or this housing bubble? I'm not going to blame the CRA entirely but the CRA certainly played a role.

Hopefully this rogue cop, Wilson is through. Whether of not he serves anytime in jail, his professional and personal life will be in shambles. Poetic justice. Maybe this cop will eventually off himself, so we all can weep for his sorry ass.

No, it didn't.

Most evidence shows it didn't really accomplish anything at all.

Was that the video where it was one guy shouting and being laughed at/ignored by people around him?
I didn't need a video to see the instigators and OWS-type anarchists running around during the riots. Just judging by who was arrested on any given night, there were obviously a greater percentage of outsiders there.

Would you rather it had been locals causing all that trouble?
