Poll: 71 percent say keep Redskin

So the progressives can ban me for being allegedly racist...
Racism isn't infractable. We've got em running wild on this site. Just clue us in on this knowledge of yours.

I'm not a spokesperson for anyone.

Racial stereotypes are bad for society. That's just a fact, and it doesn't need a spokesperson.

You cannot get around that fact, so you'll just deny having common sense.

Well I suppose your idea of common sense and mine are totally different..

It appears that common sense to you is political correctness and mine is logic and science.

Yeah, that's what it is.

I'm not a racist, however certain traits run with certain races..

I can't explain because everyone is unique..

Yeah, that's what it is.

That is exactly what it is..

You see the world from the outside looking in instead of the outside looking out ..

I think they prefer to be called Indians or Native Americans.

91% of Indians or Native Americans are not butt hurt effeminate ******s.

Most Indians Say Name of Washington “Redskins” Is Acceptable While 9 Percent Call It Offensive – The Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania
Most American Indians say that calling Washington’s professional football team the “Redskins” does not bother them, the University of Pennsylvania’s National Annenberg Election Survey shows.

Ninety percent of Indians took that position, while 9 percent said they found the name “offensive.” One percent had no answer. The margin of sampling error for those findings was plus or minus two percentage points.

Sure, dude.

What do women have to do with this; or are sexist pejoratives just how you talk?

What do women have to do with this; or are sexist pejoratives just how you talk?

Now you want to bring woman into this? what the ****?

It is quite clear you think anyone who doesn't share your progressive views is some sort of misogynistic psychopath...

At least he doesn't see imaginary warmongers.

Yeah, there's nothing warlike about a NA warrior logo nor a NA warrior mascot carrying a weapon and said to be on the warpath.

And calling everyone of a race a "fierce warrior" does not in any way imply that the race is warlike or the culture warmongering. No, no... all of them being warriors really has nothing to do with war at all.

That's all you have is "sure dude" after your elaborate attempts to bait me and throw me under the bus like some fish?

Who throws fish under buses?

Now you want to bring woman into this?

Well, I'm not the person referring to political opposition as sexist pejoratives.

Then I guess it's a good thing the Redskins do none of that. I'll grant you "Braves on the warpath" in the fight song but that is, after all, a fight song.

Doesn't matter what any majority says.

If Native Americans themselves want the name changed, it should be changed.

If they don't, then I don't care.

As I said in the other thread we wouldn't keep the "Washington Niggers".

You wouldn't be allowed to keep them. There was a rather significant dust up over just that 'round about 150 years ago.

Yes . . . and?

If you could grasp the difference between stereotyping a job and a race, perhaps you can understand why people do not object the same to stereotyping jobs as race.

But you can't can you? You'll just claim "But Raiders is portraying violent white people!" as if that's somehow ****ing relevant.

Legislating according to offense is nonsense! We don't pass laws, or rules, according to people being offended. It's beyond stupid to think we should pass laws and rules according to people being offended. We take such actions to protect society. It doesn't matter who objects (hell, most people probably CAN'T understand what I'm saying), what matters is that racial stereotyping is bad for society because it marginalizes those left out.

I'm still waiting to learn what is the warmongering part of the logo.

But were they 'real' Indians being polled or did they just say they were?

"...The flaw in random and anonymous polls of Native Americans' opinion is that they must rely upon self-identification to select the target group. In an editorial in the Bloomington Herald Times, Steve Russell (an enrolled Cherokee citizen and associate professor of criminal justice at Indiana University), states that both the Sports Illustrated and Annenberg's samples of "self-identified Native Americans... includes plenty of people who have nothing to do with Indians".[76]

The problem of individuals claiming to be Native American when they are not is well known in academic research, and is a particular problem when non-natives claim Indian identity specifically to gain authority in the debate over sports mascots. In the Annenberg Poll, respondents were asked their race however, before being questioned about the teams' name.[75][77]....

At the Center for Indigenous Peoples Studies at California State University, San Bernardino a survey has conducted of 400 individuals whose identity as Native American was verified, finding that 67% agreed with the statement that "Redskins" is offensive and racist. The response from non-natives was almost the opposite, with 68% responding that the name is not offensive.
Redskin (slang) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Soo...67% of 'authentic' Indians are offended by the use of redskins.

I'm still waiting to learn what is the warmongering part of the logo.

It depicts a NA warrior. Not a NA farmer, mayor, medicine man, philosopher or peace activist.

When you claim the entire race is warriors, you are claiming they are warmongers.

What about the "Fighting Irish"?
Sounds like a not so subtle slander that portrays the Irish as belligerent and probably drunkards.

To be fair, that one has some merit.

Signed,
an Irishman

Ah yes. Activists use "verification" as a way to shape their sample and then find the result they wanted. No better (and probably worse) than the Annenberg and SI samples.
