That is a crock within itself..... I have family (by marriage) that are Native American and I can tell you they don't really care - you know why? because they're US Citizens that are just like anyone else...

The notion that all American Indians are ethnic is crazy - you may as well say all Italians, Asians, Mexicans etc are all "ethnic" when they're anything but - now that is stereotyping right there.

Sure some stereotypes are crazy but a lot aren't...

I have news for you - we are ALL NOT THE SAME and we ALL COME FROM DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS - and those backgrounds shape who we are - hence those backgrounds and culture will certainly stereotype us.

If you can't see the differences then you have blinders on - weather it's due to politics, lack of observation or just plain ignorance.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with realizing traits - traits that belong to certain ethnic groups and cultures.

Redskins is not an ethnic group or culture, it's a race. Of course, you also believe in certain traits being universal in "black culture" too, right? Perhaps you could tell us about the universal traits in "white culture"?

As a white guy I don't think it's your place to say whether or not Indians can or should be offended by a racial slur. Indians are the only ones who can decide if they are offended or not.

I've never seen or heard of another sports team with an Asian, Italian, or Mexican racial slur for their team name.

I was replying to a post that took the position that if Native Americans don't care then the poster didn't care. Please pay attention.

Beyond that, I don't think the name stereotypes anyone.
