(CNN) -- Carlos Enrique Londoño laughs at the Ku Klux Klan recruitment flier recently left on the driveway of his suburban New York home. It's unlikely the group would accept him."I'm Colombian and dark-skinned," said Londoño, a painter and construction worker who has lived in Hampton Bays on Long Island for 30 years.
The flier was tucked into a plastic bag along with a membership application, the address for the KKK national office in North Carolina, a list of beliefs and three Jolly Rancher candies.

I know this is wrong, but it makes me laugh because of the picture my mind is playing of how such a thing would work out, not to mention the general creepiness of it.

I just imagine this old white guy (sort of like Mr. Herbert from Family Guy) walking up to people offering them candy in this really creepy voice, asking if they want to join their club.

The KKK hardly exists anymore..... Yea there are "white pride" organizations but they are so sparatic and aren't even associated with the KKK....

Also don't confuse "white pride" with hatred of non-whites.

I've never seen anyone talk about "white pride" who didn't blame every other race for the lack of white pride.

And being proud of being "white" is just about the dumbest thing possible to take pride in. It's not even pride in your heritage, because you can have all the European blood you want, but only a little bit of non-European blood makes you non-white. It's being proud of something you're not. I'm proud of my heritage, white and non-white alike, but I'm not proud of the fact that I look kinda like some people whose culture is nothing like mine.

The "confusion" stems because an instance of people expressing "white pride" is almost invariably followed up by "...and all those other people are causing all our problems!"

No point in worrying over what you can't control, eh?

I've never actually met a "white pride" person, only read these notions online at Stormfront and etc. But what I've always suspected is that the one and only thing these poor limited souls have going for them is their skin color. And a handy excuse for one's own lack of achievement, irrespective of one's race, is to blame the _______'s (insert group of your choice).

Lemme tell you something, laddybuck, if you're promoting 'white pride', you're promoting racism. Plain and simple. 'White culture' and 'black culture' and 'hispanic culture' are artificial constructs created to simplify the work of people who have to deal with difficult social situations. I'm proud of my ethnic heritage (though I couldn't justify that pride) but that pride has nothing to do with skin colour. A Spaniard, a Scotsman, a Norwegian, a Greek, they're all white but there's no common heritage, no 'white pride' between them. That sh*t's only for racists.
