Obama under fire for admitting no 'strategy yet' for ISIS in Syria [W:446]

The US can plan and strategize until it's blue in the face and it won't make a bit of difference if the Sunni's and the people who actually live in the ME aren't on board with "the plan". I'm all for letting them fight their own battles.

At least that's a 'strategy".

Re: Obama has no strategy yet for dealing with ISIS.

And I don't expect him to ever give it to the press again.
So they can tell the world that we are flying manned and unmanned flights over Syria.

In case you hadn't notice, we're still at WAR with terrorists, terrorists emboldened by the buffoon bragging "Bring It On".

Those aren't 'terrorists'! They're "jayvees"!

Don't look like Egypt, The Saud, and the UAE are talking about Republicans.Saudi and UAE leaders in particular have expressed concern that Washington can no longer be counted on, citing US diplomatic overtures to Iran and a cautious approach to the Syrian conflict. "The lesson of Syria still resonates... that you cannot depend on America or the West... America is no longer reliable," says Abdulla.....snip~Libya air strikes show UAE willing to 'go it alone'
There is no leader anywhere in the world who has confidence in Obama, or respects him. How he has 40% approval at home is the real mystery.

Re: Obama has no strategy yet for dealing with ISIS.

Love that old saw, we have to rebuild at home! We need a leader that can take action as needed, not one that is caught by surprise every time a crisis occurs.
Is it really his fault that the guy who delivers his newspaper is always a day or two late?

The best course of action is considering all options and then doing the smart thing, not taking stupid but immediate action because there's some angry guy on the internet who's saying "won't somebody think of the children?!"
There is every chance that Barrack Obama will weigh all the evidence, calculate all his options, and then do the stupid thing.

Re: Obama has no strategy yet for dealing with ISIS.

In fact what happened was predicted by many, including the Mitt Romney during the last Presidential campaign when Obama was saying (though later claiming it wasn't his idea!) that he would pull all the troops from Iraq.. If Obama is thinking long and hard about anything it is probably related to his golf game or Michelle.
This is Romney here:

Exactly. Every effing crisis Obama finds about on TV are like this. Really? He REALLY hasn't come up with a plan on Syria yet?

Not one that he is willing to share with the Press/GOP yet.
Such as the NYT telling the World we're flying manned and unmanned flights over Syria.

I'm just disappointed it took the President this long to learn how to play the opposition's game .

The President has always been a slow learner. Its going to lose him the Senate in just a few short months.

Another conservative counting his chickenhawks before they hatch- :lamo
I've never made a prediction like that until Election eve, and I'm the reigning 2-time Senate champ from Politico. ;)

Try this latest poll:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2014/senate/ar/arkansas_senate_cotton_vs_pryor-4049.html

Cotton wanted to bomb Syria with McCain, Obama, et al.
Cotton is also running to the left of Pryor on social security.

The companion governor's poll shows DEM Ross with a +2 lead for the first time ever.
These are the first Arkansas polls in over three weeks .

LOL. You're one of the John McCain "We'll stay for 99 years if we have to" types. War hawks like yourself can't be reasoned with. Must be easy as **** to demand action from your armchair.

When the entire middle east is ridden of violence and is a peaceful democracy, then mac declares our soldiers may come home. :lamo

We left, now we're going back...for more war. Had we stayed we would have been able to bring the violence to an end....permanently. That's not being a war hawk, that's committing to do whatever it takes to stabilize a region and end the cycle of warfare. Just like we did in Europe.

Re: Obama has no strategy yet for dealing with ISIS.

What did you think of PM Cameron's comments today?

I like that he calls a spade a spade. He came right out and called extremist islam the horrible evil that it is. However, I don't agree with a lot of the measures they want to implement, particularly in revoking UK citizens' citizenship without trial. That's a patriot act style government overreach that could be direly misused. If the evidence that they're terrorists is so water tight, a trial should be open and shut.

Europe was already civilized pre-war. The middle east has never been civilized. It's been a violent ****hole and no amount of us being there is going to change that. You can't force peace and prosperity on people, they have to choose it for themselves.

Spare dp with what we need to read up on.

Good thing the President bombed ISIL at the dam and Irkut huh?
And too bad Biden wasn't listened to with his solution .

Then save the BS with that crystal ball and do try to keep up.....when it concerns what I have said about the Saud.

Yeah, I was glad he helped the Kurds and didn't wait any longer. They have shown they are our ally. I think the Kurds should have their own country. We just have to do the Right thing with them.....and Officially recognize them.

Re: Obama has no strategy yet for dealing with ISIS.

I'm just rather confused by it honestly. Nobody has a better solution, and what Obama is doing is rather reasonable. I for one don't want to reinvade Iraq, but the war monkeys around here seem to.

From what I understand we have committed air strikes and special operations. [1] Allegedly we've reformed Task Force Black from the Iraq war, which is a joint task force with the Brits to be a general nuisance to ISIS.
CIA + Special Ops + Air strikes = Effectiveness for cheap.

Recently they helped protect and evacuate Yazidi civilians.
US troops land on Iraq's Mt Sinjar to plan for Yazidi evacuation | World news | theguardian.com

I just see no other reason to get involved. It seems like people have forgotten how bloody, costly, and ineffective it has been in Iraq and Afghanistan to have ground troops on every streetcorner and mountain top

He's presented his decisive plan: CIA + Special Ops + Drone strikes. How is that not a plan? This is happening right now, but because he didn't present it to YOU on American TV he must not have a plan. You do realize he doesn't run his decisions by you first, right?

And you've still refused to tell us what YOUR master plan is.

Yeah RA.....it was the Kurds in Syria who helped the vast majority to get away. They cleared a path.

Our Team already was up there and gave back an Assessment.....Air Strikes only push them around or send them undercover. But The CIA and any other initial groups should be doing anything and everything on taking them out. Including their leaders and or commanders on the ground. Of course I think so should everyones Intel Agencies.....and using whatever means they need to. Whether its mercs or assassins. Oh and It should be Kill them on sight.

Oh and the French needs to clean up their mess with Syria. Their the ones that have been filing resolutions in the UN against Assad even before Hillary had her Friends of Syria meetings. For enforceable action too.

Just like they did later trying to get BO to jump into this mess. They couldn't trick him like they did with Libya.

when it concerns what I have said about the Saud.
I'll defer to your expertise as long as you keep your positivity going up, up and away. :)

Yeah, I was glad he helped the Kurds and didn't wait any longer.
I like RA's insight.
Some of those Euros are starting to grow on me.
And I'm 50% British and 50% Maine/Quebec.
They have shown they are our ally.
The "No Drama Obama" doctrine must continue to walk a fine line between the Kurds and Turkey.
I think the Kurds should have their own country.
Which would be the "Biden" doctrine.
We just have to do the Right thing with them.....and Officially recognize them.

He doesn't anymore.....its been at 37%. They have a thread up on all his numbers for the major issues in Partisan Politics forum. But you are correct with other leaders around the planet not having any confidence in him. Nor do they trust him.

He doesn't anymore.....its been at 37%.
The latest polls on RCP from Gallup and Rasmussen have Obama at 41--53 and 46--52 respectively.
Do keep up with the latest polls dude . :2razz:

Obammy used his race to succeed and now all the liberals and minorities see the truth that a loser is a loser regardless of race or politics. Recall all the celebrating by blacks across the country after his first election, well has America changed? Guess not.

Well more Europeans need to get involved.....not just the Brits. Really we should tell the French take their asses out there. They started all of this. Then they were the ones talking tougher than anyone and acting like they were going to do something. Then bailed out when it came time to put up or shut up. Note how the French always is involved in others business, always mouths off and always is a no show and needs help to do damn near anything.

Well if it a 2 or 3 state solution......so be it. Then they each have their own chunk of ground. Then they can declare war on each other with consequences coming from the rest of the International Community.

But the terrorists need to do one thing.....Die!

AP/GfK Poll: Obama job approval drops six net points from May to fall to 40-59, both an all time high disapproval and widest approval gap.....snip~

Foreign policy used to be a bright spot in Americans’ dimming opinion of President Barack Obama. Not anymore. Associated Press-GfK polling found a spring and summer of discontent with the president’s handling of world events. Obama’s consistently low marks across crises such as the fighting in Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and Hamas could benefit Republicans aiming to win control Congress in the fall…Asked about world trouble spots:

Even after survey after survey has recently shown a major drop in the nation’s uninsured rate, Obamacare just had its worst month in a key health-care poll. Kaiser Family Foundation, which has done arguably the best and most consistent polling on the health-care law in the past four-plus years, found that public opinion on the law sank to a record low in July. More people than ever (53 percent) last month said they viewed the law unfavorably, an increase of 8 percentage points since June — one of the biggest opinion swings ever......snip~

I don't have a problem with your poll from August 1st--I saw it on RCP.
Mine are from August 26-28 on RCP.
RCP does a great job summarizing EVERY poll out there for EVERYTHING .

Re: Obama has no strategy yet for dealing with ISIS.

And what exactly is your master plan? Keep in mind it needs to be more detailed than: KILL EM ALL!

"Staying the **** out of it" IS a plan, and it's the plan most Americans want.

He's not President, Obama is. Try concentrating on that.

Re: Obama has no strategy yet for dealing with ISIS.

Perhaps unintended consequences. But Russia did warn three years ago that US interference in Syria would cause the crisis to spread, and they were right.

Yes....it was stupid to give aid and comfort to ISIS in Syria and not expect them to spread into Iraq.

As one who has seldom, if ever, supported Obama, I must here.

Congrats, a president that admits to what every other president in recent history has neglected to mention....attack first, plan later.

Look, you were in Vietnam how long? What was the plan there when the US rejected please from Ho Chi Minh for help and attacked him instead? What was the "plan" in the second Iraq war? That one sure worked...fire everyone with a gun, kick them out of a job and expect them to line the streets waving home made flags?

What IS the plan in Afghanistan, besides killing every living thing you see? If there is one, can someone point to what that looks like?

He got honest for once in his administration....must be something in the water

He said were are adding troops (surge) in Afghanistan and then we're pulling out in two weeks no matter what.

Looks like the 2nd and 3rd string conservatives have shown up.
Obama is down 46--52 in the latest Rasmussen poll, a gain of 13 points in less than a month.

And the President won't have to deal with Bitch McFilibuster next year whose reelection effort fell apart this week.
With his campaign manager resigning amid a Ron Paul bribery cloud hanging over him.
And a secret recording promising to shut down the government on every issue with policy riders, at the latest Koch Head conferences .
