Census figures show more than one-third of Americans receiving welfare benefits

Hardly - your DNC love makes mine look paltry.

You're opinions reflect standard progressive talking points. Why not just be honest?

You apparently do not know what a personal attack is....

I'll switch my lean when all the "Libertarians" who parrott the GOP line do the same. You don't know what "moderate" means, which isn't my fault.

And give up your progressive liberal stance as a "moderate"? I know what it's not - and you're not a moderate.

All government assistance.

Well those are legitimate certainly....people paid into SS. And includes millions of seniors....a large part of the population right there.

Edit: maybe govt 'assistance' needs to be defined for a more constructive discussion.

Ironic - you using "always" though. You're hyper-partisan is showing and you've been around long enough to know better.

So you have zero instances of a Democrat doing that.

That's exactly what needs to happen here, but the focus seems to be on Fox.

The definition of welfare is used too broadly by both sides, which is why I mentioned "corporate welfare" in an earlier post. To me, welfare recipients are the people who get the check and the TracPhones simply because they exist. Senior SS recipients paid into SS their entire working careers. Not welfare, IMO.

So you cannot provide proof of "always".

What would that proof look like to you? A transcript of every single statement that every single Democrat has ever made on social safety nets?

Most people getting those checks and TracPhones are also working.

Just do everyone a favor and don't use stupid comments like "always" mmkay?

Maybe. No idea. I have seen young healthy people who would rather collect welfare and TracPhones from the government, and live in Section 8 housing, than work.
I am sure that such people exist.

Do we have a coincidental bumper crop of such people at the same time that there happens to have been a global economic crisis?

Well....yeah.
A clearer definition of welfare would have helped elevate the discussion.
But since that didn't happen, it's really fun to poke fun at FOX news, too.

Not in NH they aren't. We don't give welfare checks and TracPhones to people with jobs.

Yes, you do.

edit: Technically I think the phone program is federal, started in the Reagan administration.

Updated Statement:

Every single instance I have witnessed of somebody lumping all government benefits into "welfare" have come from Republicans, conservatives, or libertarians, and none of these to date have managed to provide an example of a Democrat doing this.

Yes, people pay into it. But, and I'll say we, don't pay enough to keep Social Security solvent. So that part of Social Security that we receive that is more than the annuity should be is government assistance.

I paid enough for me. I'm going to be pissed when all the current losers cant keep up with their end and there's nothing left for me.

I'm afraid that if you're under forty-five and you're counting on Social Security then you will be very disappointed. And I'm probably being optimistic for those over forty-five.

I'll keep my fingers crossed mainly because I don't plan on getting off the dole before you get eligible and I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for me.

Yeah uh huh. Funny there are more moochers in the reds states than blue and there are more white anglos on welfare than minorities.

And just how do illegals vote? I live in an area that is very Hispanic and have yet to see one at the voting booth.

Who said that they could vote RIGHT NOW? And who says you need to vote to get benefits? Don't you people ever think about what you write before you hit "ENTER"?

The growth in federal and state aid tends to demonstrate problems in each of those key areas, as it frequently is a response to a lack of solutions elsewhere.
