'KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine accused Russia on Thursday of mounting an invasion in the southeast of the country in support of pro-Moscow separatist rebels.

Ukraine's security and defense council said the border town of Novoazovsk and other parts of Ukraine's south-east had fallen under the control of Russian forces who together with rebels were staging a counter-offensive.

"A counter-offensive by Russian troops and separatist units is continuing in south-east Ukraine," the council said in a post on Twitter.'

No idea if it is true or not.

Ukraine has become the kings of unfounded accusations lately.

So I assume it is probably not true.

Seems are worst concerns are materializing. Would bring Russia doom in the long run but for now the rest of Ukraine continues to be invaded following Ukrainian Crimea.

Russia won't get past the Dnieper. If a full invasion happened, Dnieper is the best position for defense (like in WW2) for NATO (who I don't think will get involved). Ukraine can also hold it as well. Problem is Kiev sits on the Dnieper.

Although, I do not agree with the practise.

I think it is laughable for Russia to be sanctioned for supporting Ukrainian rebels when America openly supports other countries/organizations (often, corrupt regimes like Saudi Arabia) with many times the arms and support then Russia does; and yet no one even hints at sanctioning America for it.

Pure hypocrisy.

So we thought about Ukrainian Crimea also. But the more one lets the more one loses.

Ukraine doesn't have a chance against a full fleged invasion by Russia. Besides too many in Ukraine support Russia.

So who is Saudi Arabia invading and annexing? Apples to Oranges much?

So who is Saudi Arabia invading and annexing? Apples to Oranges much?

Saudi Arabia is a terrible regime that corruptly controls over 28 million people. And that is but one corrupt country that America props up/supports with arms.

There is only a tiny fraction of that number in the breakaway Ukrainian area...and they voted overwhelmingly to leave but are being forced to stay by Kiev.

You want to call that 'apples and oranges'...go ahead, I don't much care.

We are done on this.

Good day.

When we do we list Russia as a super power again?

I don't think the US has a good position here. As such, we will be relegated to watching.

1st, Crimea is thought as Russian and has for close to 400 years.

2nd.. Dnieper was a blood bath for Russia during WW2. Politically that would be unacceptable today.

Dnieper is the dividing line between Pro-Russian vs Pro-Ukrainian. Dnieper is also a barrier which you can hold. There are only a few crossing points.

US never had the position. US wanted to create that position but this is Russia's backyard.

In all honesty, I don't think we should be taking one on either. Stopping trade with them is fine. No need to get involved over there.

Does not matters, the area belonged to Ukraine.

Elaborate please? Why would a blood bath historical ordeal be unacceptable? Also unacceptable for what? Invasion?

Not according to international law and the global community, by your standards California and Texas are part of Mexico and Ireland is part of the U.K..

I have no love for the House of Saud but they are still the sovereign government within the KOS.

lol these referendums were conducted only after the Russian terrorists turned these cities into armed camps ruled by fear and murder.

Kiev makes lots of accusations. So far these ones have not been independently verified by an impartial observer.

When 70% of Crime is Russian people who speak Russian, it's Russian.

It was a gift from Soviet Union. A gift can be taken back. ;)

Russian support goes so far. Stalling out and the death of 1 million Russian to take western Ukraine would be a line that would lead to "revolution". So there is no point for Putin or Russian Government to push past the Dnieper.

Love the ****ty quality.

It really does upset me that people just gobble this **** up with a spoon on the basis of such flimsy evidence. As though somehow the people in power have never lied before about this sort of thing in the past.
