HOUSTON - All eyes are on the federal courthouse in downtown Houston Wednesday where a man shot by a Bellaire police officer will attend a hearing involving his civil rights lawsuit.
Robbie Tolan was a minor league baseball player who dreamed of making it to "The Show" one day, but whose dreams were cut off after a Bellaire, TX police officer shot him because he suspected that Tolan's "expensive" car was "stolen". Because, as we all know, if a black man drives an expensive car, it must be stolen. Right? In addition, Tolan's mother was beaten up by the officer. Today, Robbie gets his day in court, and it is going to cost the city of Bellaire millions.
This lawsuit was allowed to proceed after the Supreme Court ruled that Tolan's lawyers could use "racial profiling" as a motive for the shooting.
