Let's see.
ISIS rolls across the east and north of Syria and Iraq, capturing cities and recruiting the populace in a local brand of "regime change."
An American free-lance journalist is beheaded. Unlike the assassination of a sitting Ambassador in Benghazi, the Obama administration [with a city in siege] determines this atrocity must be met with air raids and drone attacks.
Result" ISIS takes US citizen hostage and demands a whopping $3,000,000,000.
Yep, Obama's middle east policy is working....sure has ISIS on the run.
Contrary to the underlying assumptions of many in the West, the hard core Islamic radicals uniformly hold two things as tangible, unwavering truths:
1) There is nothing to fear from death
2) Killing Infidels makes their death even more fun
What they try to accomplish with this blood soaked immortality here on Earth differs between Islamic sects, but the practical outcome for the the West is that these animals can not be negotiated with and the only solution is to kill enough of them to get the rest to question their faith. It is quicker to kill them in ways that they believe deny them immortality but, under superior firepower and outclassed at every turn on the ground, eventually all Islamic radical movements start to doubt if Allah is really on their side.
The only real positive outcome of ISIS at this point is Saudi Arabia announced a few days ago that the road ahead for the Middle East and Saudi Arabia is to recognize the state of Israel and open diplomatic communication. I think maybe the Saudis did a quick compare contrast between Israel and ISIS and realized they have a better future with Israel.
