Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot[W:72,732]

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

I need a nonconservative perspective, because I really am not trusting my own hearing at this point. Did you actually hear that being said, unmistakably, in the video?

I don't know this man's political lean but here is another view.

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

Okay, I looked at the report. It looks like they have the same problem as a city I used to live in. The white officer to black officer percentage is hugely skewed in relation to the population. That is a problem in so many ways. I have a friend that is black and she retired from the Aurora PD. She was handed a KKK pamphlet once. It wasn't because they wanted to include her in their membership. It was a warning. She and her husband are like second parents to me. She is good people. They tried to hang her ass out in an undercover operation and she side stepped the sting. It saved her life. I can see where you are coming from but I am still going to wait to see how this shakes out. Like I said, I don't trust law enforcement just because they are law enforcement. Anyone that would do that is naive.

As for Huffpo, I will read information from just about anywhere but HuffPo. We can agree to disagree on the HuffPo thing. :)
It's probably not a stretch to believe that this is not the only political forum that I am a member of. When this story first broke, I was a HUGE proponent of the "wait and see" approach. I was even arguing with black posters about whether the black community's response was racist.

The thing is though, that it's been weeks now, and all the eyewitnesses we know of either support each other's accounts in the material aspects or can't even be clearly heard (not even sure I would call it an account), the new audio evidence fits well with these accounts, we have a guy tweeting live as it was happening who's account is consistent with the other witnesses, law enforcement officials confirming a crucial part of the incident that all of the witnesses agree on...and we have a second hand version of Darren Wilson's account which completely leaves out the crucial part which all witnesses agree on and was confirmed by law enforcement officials, an inconsistent story from Ferguson PD with numerous corrections, a lone tweet that a dozen witnesses corroborate Wilson's story (and don't even get me started on what the heck that even means or the inherent impossibility of it, like somehow 12 witnesses plus Darren Wilson all have perfectly identical accounts), a history of corruption in every police organization that Darren Wilson has ever been a part of, and "Operation Blue Monday."

So it's not a big leap to decide to lean a bit towards the conclusion that this was excessive force and that an officer acting prudently would have spared Brown's life.

Rules ?

You think it's appropriate or even a GOOD idea for Liberals link to sites like HuffPo or Media matters ?

You think overt bias sells your ideas to people who dont share your core ideology ?

Like I said, if you only want to preach to the choir there are better places for doing just that.
When left leaning sites post original documents and sources (as in this case) I believe it furthers their credibility to ALL sides.
The point of view of the reference site is far less important than the object that is being referenced.
I have in the past been directed to Fux Snooze where I have read a piece of source material and if the source is legit I don't bellyache about the site it was on.
Facts are facts no matter where you read them.

I want to see what people say on the stand. So far the accounts that we are seeing contradict the "autopsy". I don't see any consistency yet.

Things I want to see information about:
Powder residue on the inside of the police car and Brown's clothing.
Ballistics or information on the round that Wilson actually fired. If they release the kind of ammo he used I can do the ballistics.
An autopsy from the coroner.
Transcripts of the witnesses (I don't think Johnson is credible, too many holes and no, that is not a pun).
A transcript of Wilson's testimony.

Until then I will just try to suck up valid information and try not to say something stupid, which is real easy for me to do (say something stupid that is).

Well, I at least deciphered the first part in question with relatively high confidence.

"He kept coming toward him"
No.
"He was like pissed off or something"
Those are the words actually spoken.

I forgot something in my last post. I think it is healthy to question everything. That is what we are doing. It is the only thing that keeps us on our toes. If we all agreed then we would all be wrong at least half of the time.

True.

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

They're on a girst name basis with Brown, know his family. It's concievable that they would lie to cover for a friend.

Are you assuming the department and Wilson will all not lie/deny/suppress evidence on Wilson's behalf?

I believe both sides will play to their own best interests...and am looking for as much physical evidence as possible to be released to try and verify.

I truly, honestly believe that you will end up disappointed if you are waiting for a smoking gun in this case.

The DJ dude thought the witness's story matched what we know of Wilson story, was the point.
And I would make a doctors appointment tomorrow to get that hearing checked.

No, I'm pretty confident in what was said now, but thank you for your concern.

I truly, honestly believe that you will end up disappointed if you are waiting for a smoking gun in this case.

It will be the culmination of evidence. I hope it it based more on hard, physical evidence. This is not a black and white case (no pun intended).

No. The quality of the recording is so bad and there is so much cross-talk and yelling in the background I don't believe much content of any value can be reliably heard from the individual referred to.
The first time I heard this recording it was accompanied by a text overlay that told you what the conservative source that published it wanted the listener to hear. It was presented as "proof" that Brown was rushing at Wilson when he was shot.
Nonsense.
Any time there is a text accompanying an unclear recording of a person talking you can bet you are being led by their interpretation.
It is manipulation of the worst kind.
Any recording like this should be listened to with your eyes closed. I you can't make it out, it's not likely that anyone else has better ears than you do.

By the way, contrary to popular belief, the burden of proof is on Wilson to show that he was justified in every bullet he fired at Brown.

I actually figured out what the first part says. It's quite damning for Wilson. Check out my last few posts, and listen to the audio again, a few times so you are comfortable with it.

Buck, are you going to the pig roast tomorrow? If so I will buy you a whiskey.

I am a vegetarian.
I don't eat meat.
My preferred poison is brandy.
But thanx anyway.

Bahhh, brandy, not good for an Irishman. More whiskey for me.

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

Clothes would tell the range.. But htat doesn't negate that if it was as close as Brown reaching in the car when Brown was shot in the chest (as claimed by Johnson).. The skin would have told the range. The wound would have had stippling from the gunpowder.

Apparently, a distance of nine inches or more is considered "distant" and wound stippling is less likely to occur.

"..When a gun is fired, a cloud of gas from the gunpowder's ignition explodes outward, along with soot and unburned gunpowder, Davis said. If a shooter holds the gun so that the muzzle is in contact with the victim's skin, the gas injects itself into the body, either tearing the skin or leaving abrasions from the contact with the muzzle. A shot from an inch or so away will spare the skin from the gas, but leave soot around the wound. In contrast, a shot from between 3 and 9 inches (7.62 to 22.86 centimeters) away won't deposit any soot, but it will leave a characteristic "stippling" pattern from fast-flying gunpowder. A distance greater than about 9 inches between the skin and the gun, depending on the gun, would be categorized as a "distant wound," Davis said...."

Ferguson, Missouri, police shooting: What Michael Brown's autopsy can (and can't) tell us - CBS News

Distant: any distance beyond that which produces stippling
● Appear as round wounds with sharp margins and an abrasion ring on the surrounding skin

Forensics section - Gunshot wounds

Nine inches isn't that far, so it is possible that MB was shot when the gun went off in the car...no stippling required.

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

By the way, contrary to popular belief, the burden of proof is on Wilson to show that he was justified in every bullet he fired at Brown.

As someone who carries a firearm and has worked with the PDs in 3 cities, I'm pretty familiar with the fact...laws... that people, including cops, are responsible for every shot they take.

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

If...if MB was indeed shot while Wilson was still in his cruiser, which is starting to look highly likely, then that would blow a hole a mile wide in the officers story that MB had turned and taunted him to shoot......

Josie: "Michael takes off with his friend. They get to be about 35 feet away and Darren [Wilson], of course protocol is to pursue. So he stands up and yells, ‘Freeze!' Michael and his friend turn around and Michael starts taunting him. ‘Oh, what are you going to do about it? You're not gonna shoot me.' .....

Why would MB do that if he was already shot and bullets were whizzing past him as he was trying to run away? We need a ballistic report to know how just how many bullets Wilson did fire.

Say, how long does it take to reload a handgun? Three seconds, perhaps? That might explain the pause in the audio.

Johnson is looking more and more credible by the minute.

Keep hanging your hat on lies and phony information...

We just need more assertive pigs, ooops, I mean jackboots, ooops, I mean cops.

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

I've noticed discrepancies in everyone's story....especially the police. But you only seem to notice Johnson's and even there you don't seem to know much. So how come you're so keen to discredit him?

 whaaaa? pigs don't lie.

Re: Attorney: New audio reveals pause in gunfire when Michael Brown was shot

He'd also have to be pretty close to blowout Wilson's eyesocket, if indeed that's what happened.

If he was that close, why would it take 11 shots to incapacitate him? And how did he miss 5 times? I'm just saying you've got a trained shooter, close range....Brown may have been a sizeable guy, but unless his arms are freakishly long...

Hay man, it was only 10 according to the wilson leg humpers, 6 hit Brown, the other 4 went into people's homes. Now, think about that for a minute.....

How many stories have we heard about people shooting guns in the streets and some of the stray bullets coming from those guns killing 9 year olds in their homes, while lying in bed.

Do we need pigs like wilson firing indiscriminately or wildly at people on the streets?
The correct answer is always NO.
