Tehran (AFP) - Iran on Sunday unveiled two new missiles and two new drones it said have been added to its arsenal, in a ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani.[h=2]Related Stories[/h]

The Ghadir (Mighty), with a range of 300 kilometres (185 miles), is a ground-to-sea and sea-to-sea missile, the official IRNA news agency said.
It is in the same family as the Ghader or Qader cruise missile, which has a range of 200 kilometres.
The other missile unveiled on Sunday, the Nasr-e Basir (Clear Victory), is equipped with a seeker homing head. Its range was not given.
The new Karar-4 (Striker) drone can track and monitor enemy aircraft, the agency said, while the Mohajer-4 (Migrant) drone is designed to perform photographic and mapping missions.
Iran has developed a major missile programme in addition to producing different types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), including attack drones.
The United States, whose Fifth Fleet is based in Sunni-ruled Bahrain across the Gulf from the mainly Shiite Islamic republic, has repeatedly expressed concern about these two programmes.
Rouhani on Sunday sought to allay such fears.
"Iran has no intention to interfere in, dominate or attack other countries or plunder their resources," he said in a speech broadcast on state television, adding that the country's military doctrine was defensive.
"But at the same time we will stand up to any aggression," he added.

One does get the impression that someone has taken his eye off the ball.

Somehow Iranian technology does not make me wet myself.

Most of it doesn't. It's the other stuff that worries me.

What do we wait for? An American city, or maybe Jerusalem to have a mushroom cloud over it?

It's Iran, what do you want? A preemptive strike because they have a couple of missles or drones the US or Isreal have stuff light years more advanced? Really?

What do you suggest? Mindless criticism is easy to do. What action do you want? And do we rule what other countries do inside their countries? Is that our role?

You don't really care what I think, or want. That we have more, or better weapons means nothing if we allow first strike capability to the enemy. Surely you know that. Thousands, if not millions would die, but so what right? After all they are only Jews.

More mindless right wing critism of the POTUS with no solutions, ideas or plans. Those missles might very well be made of plywood for all we know, Iran is big on propaganda. "They are only Jews"? Really. Strawman much?

No sane person would look at Obama's use of drone technology to conduct assassinations throughout the middle east and expect that those in the middle east wouldn't look to acquire that same technology and potentially use it against US interests. The drone was designed as an instrument of war and should have been left in that arena. You often reap what you sow, and America may rue the time they let their President abuse this technology without any level of serious concern.

Clearly we must invade every country on the planet. Can't let them attack first. We have to attack everyone first.

I'd like to see us, as well as the rest of the free world agree to actually neutralize the threat that Iran is racing toward, and I'd like to see the region pitch in on that. The action is clear, allowing Iran to continue to hold on to any capability to develop a nuclear weapon is out of the question, their duplicity, and tactics suggest that they are playing the world as they march forward.

As far as controlling what other countries do, I would say don't be naive. We not only have the responsibility to do so, but the burden of making the right call for the sake of the world. That you and others don't want us to have that responsibility means little as to the fact that we already do.

Yea, we should find another enemy of Iran to invade and hand over to them. That will fix them.

It is criticism yes, but based in fact of this administration for whatever reason failing to act, and further show weakness in shutting down Iran's march despite our ally in the region begging for our help. So they could be made of "plywood" in your own words eh? So, like I said, what do we wait for? That first strike? So, that we can hear from people like you "Oh, well, I guess they were further than we thought?" NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Good morning, CJ. :2wave:

Good point! We have been objecting, and we are ignored! Most sane people all over the world just want to live in peace - but decisions are made by those who don't always have their best interests in mind. They just don't seem to give a damn about collateral damage, but it does make enemies of those who suffer, and that's a given. I'd feel the same way! When pissing contests between leaders is allowed to become a game of "one-upmanship," look for trouble ahead for the little people - always!

When their leadership preaches death to America and the west? Yes, we should be concerned about every weapon they create.

Who do you have in mind?

Well, previously for this sort of operation we picked guys like Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden.

Who do you have in mind?

How about the Saudi's, they don't like Iran much. We need to complete the job that Bush started because he thought like you. There's nothing like doing stupid stuff to get the ME in turmoil.

Not possible now is it? We are letting ISIS run wild in Iraq, and we are demonstrating that we are timid in our ME policy at present, so I ask again, who do you suggest?

Saudi's don't have the capability, nor a strong enough military to fight Iran...Attacking me personally won't change that.

In real life, people aren't supervillains. People in power want to maintain that power, and they realize that attacking the United States is about the quickest way to be removed from power.

Yeah, you are right. Nobody has ever attacked the US.

You sure about that?

Even Democrats don’t see him as a strong leader in the world at this point of his presidency.
Six years into Obama’s presidency, the public is losing faith that our president can command the respect of other nations. It’s not hard to see why.
