Obama: U.S. will be relentless with Islamic State after Beheading.....

How many more dead civilians and enemies are we prepared to make in the process.

Yeah, why risk civilian casualties while seeking to disrupt a group that's straight up slaughtering them by the thousands? It's also safe to say that any that would take offense to our campaign against ISIS would not prove friendly to our interests to begin with.

NY Post said it best, It is time to bomb ISIS.

I agree, but that is far easier said than done:

ISIS is basically a bunch of fanatics riding around in Mad Max modified nissan pick up trucks. They can be very hard to find when mixed in urban areas- and ISIS is very aware of drones, cell phone tracing, and laser guided bombs.

I fault you for claiming that the President did not use a word that occurred in the first sentence. If you want accuracy go straight to the source instead of being intellectually lazy

Well, if you can't figure out about the AP and Reuters.....that's on you. Same deal goes for putting up Breaking News. As when one is looking at breaking news or Hot news.....it sure isn't coming from the White House. Which is why you didn't want to play the mind game with what was actually posted.

So what do you think.....maybe this finally got to him. He pretty much told these terrorists we will do what we have to do. What say ye?

Apart from what you are implying, Obama has been aggressive fighting terrorists (I don't have to mention bin Laden.) Obama has used drones much more against terrorists than his predecessor.

That neither he, nor anyone else knows exactly what to do.

Heya Monte. :2wave: What about the FBI who he tasked with bringing Hostages home? Didn't they say there was like 40 some FBI agents on the ground in Ferguson? Yet we don't have enough of them overseas to be about bringing our people home with this Agency.

Yeah that's what the invisible War in Yemen is all about.....You know that would be one of those Issues that most of the Left avoids. All due to BO peeps policy there.

Howdy dude! Yeah, I mean, I'm not sure what to make of FBI doing this. And of course you know where I am on the preventative side of this. But then pointing to missed opportunities of prevention is labeled anti-American by some.

Wow, twice now the counter to "it has finally gotten to him (Obama)" has gone right over....one from MT....and one from yourself!

Hint: It has gotten to our current POTUS from day one in office.

Try again.

I doubt it from day one.....try reading Gates Book. You know that would be from someone who knows what he is talking about, as well as being the Only S.O.D. that knew how to deal with those overseas that worked for BO peep.

Yeah I thought the same.....especially when BO still has to send US military to help acquire those hostages. The FBI would be nothing more but an obstacle to get in the way.

Not to mention.....they are bit handicapped when outside the US, as well as just another Civilian target.

I'm neither a republican or a democrat and I condemn the so called quiet war in Yemen. 98% of those killed in drone strikes are non-enemy combatant leaders. The families of the civilian victims are anything but silent, but then Western media sources don't cover that, one must go to international (real) news.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Yeah well....I did put up the latest news with Yemen and the Shia. Note how much the left lacks with anything concerning Yemen.

You don't think that has anything to do with their Party.....do you?

LOL....you are STILL MISSING THE POINT.....WHOOSH!

HE GOT "IT" LONG AGO.

EVEN BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED:

During the 2008 campaign, then-candidate Barack Obama pledged several times that he would act to capture or kill terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden. Today, that's a Promise Kept on our Obameter.

In an October 2008 debate with Republican nominee John McCain, Obama said the following:.

"What I have said is we're going encourage democracy in Pakistan, expand our non-military aid to Pakistan so that they have more of a stake in working with us, but insisting that they go after these militants. And if we have Osama bin Laden in our sights and the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to take them out, then I think that we have to act, and we will take them out.

"We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al-Qaida . That has to be our biggest national security priority."

Then whiff, as you missed the whole reset policy.....then another reset and another. Of course then there was all that Negotiating with the terrorists of the Taliban.

Oh and btw Gates Book came out after BO peeps first term. :doh

WTF does a "reset of policy" have to do with not understanding that the basis of your argument, that Obama did not get terrorism (" finally got to him."), is complete fabrication, a fallacy, that you undermined when YOU brought up Obama drone strikes in "Yemen"?

FFS, you just keep putting up all kinds of smoke and mirrors to continually avoid your own contradictions and faulty premises.

Rumor has it that the Admin's main focus will be utilizing the FBI to find these guys. Not the best approach IMHO. FBI is good when they have a controlled environment. That region is anything but controlled. This is best suited for military/intelligence.

Yeah, like how the FBI is chasing down the terrorists who killed Ambassador Stephens in Libya?

I feel more secure now.

What don't you get about The War on Terror increasing? What don't you get that they have increased in range.....as well as numbers. As well as groups. Still haven't figured out that terrorism has increased over 60% all under BO peep's watch.

All due to BO and his thought construct over violence.

Again Gates Book came out after BO's first term......eventually you will catch up to speed.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday vowed that the United States will not be swayed from airstrikes against Islamic State after the group beheaded an American journalist, an act he said is proof that the militants stand for no religion. "The United States of America will continue to do what we must do to protect our people. We will be vigilant and we will be relentless. When people harm Americans, anywhere, we do what's necessary to see that justice is done," he said.

He said militants have rampaged across cities and villages, abducted women and children and subjected them to torture and rape and killed Muslims, both Sunni and Shia, by the thousands."No just God would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day," he said. "Their ideology is bankrupt. They may claim, out of expediency, that they are at war with the United States or the West, but the fact is, they terrorize their neighbors and offer them nothing but an endless slavery to their empty vision and the collapse of any definition of civilized behavior," Obama said.....snip~

Normally I would offer some thought about exactly what are the goals, those things Amerikans always lose sight of when they go military. Short list: Vietnam, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan.....

However, after five and a half years of "if you like your plan.." and other world wonders like "The International community drew the red line..", I suspect this is more drivel designed to keep the money flowing from the Cadillac socialists and appease the war heads at the same time and will be more "teensy, little attack" al a John Kerry.

After the great words of wisdom over Ferguson it is clear the White House is testing every syllable before utterance. They have everything at stake in these mid terms. Right now, to them, the ONLY thing that counts is votes, and they need every one they can get.

Never forget, in the US, foreign affairs are a domestic issue...it has nothing to do with what's happening in Syria, Iraq or even Iran and Korea, but everything to do with one vote here and one vote there.

Greetings, F&L. :2wave: Glad to see you back!

As nearly as I can figure, if you openly walk the streets, you're safe. It's only when you try to hide that it's a problem.

Except what is the only thing that will actually make a real difference... Boots on the ground.

The Iraqi army is much stronger than ISIS, but it

"Take ISIS' victory in Mosul. Thirty-thousand Iraqi troops ran from 800 ISIS fighters. Those are 40:1 odds! Yet Iraqi troops ran because they simply didn't want to fight and die for this government. There had been hundreds of desertions per month for months prior to the events of June 10th. The escalation with ISIS is, of course, making it worse.

Sectarianism also plays a role here. The Iraqi army is mixed Sunni-Shia, and "it appears that the Iraqi Army is cleaving along sectarian lines," Yale University insurgency expert Jason Lyall said. "The willingness of Sunni soldiers to fight to retake Mosul appears limited." This makes some sense out of the Mosul rout: some Sunni Muslims don't really want to fight other Sunnis in the name of a government that oppresses them.

This suggests a natural limit to ISIS' expansion. Mosul is a mostly Sunni city, but military resistance will be much stiffer in Shia areas. ISIS needs to stick to Sunni land if it doesn't want to overreach."

I don't understand why it should be OUR boots on the ground. Sounds like a job for Iraq soldiers, not ours.

Didn't I see in the news that some of them have been caught?

All correct but you left out the huge expansion of drone bombing and any information on civilian casualties.

The question that needs to be asked is this: Way back when it was such a great idea to invade Afghanistan, how many terrorists were there? The US and its allies have been killing and killing and killing for going on 14 years, the longest war in the history of the US, and only in Obama's term did they find out that they needed to increase the killing five hundred per cent.

This from a CIA that learned about the fall of the Berlin Wall when the bricks started hitting them, missed the first World Trade Center bombing, flubbed the response to that, missed the 911 attacks completely, and kind of blew "Arab Spring", Libya and, allegedly, Osama bin laden when they had him surrounded.

So how many terrorists are there left to kill? Where did they come from? Who is funding them, all things promised back during the Bush administration and contined under this president.

Seems to me, before they go running off invading and droning people, maybe they should find out these things, if for no other reason than to determine how many bullets they will need.
