Texas Gov. Rick Perry's indictment Friday on abuse of power charges will complicate his plans for a presidential run in 2016. But in reality he was already a very long shot.

Perry, a Republican, would have almost no chance of being elected if he were found guilty of abuse of official capacity or coercion of a public servant, the two charges he faces from a dispute in which he cut millions in funding from the office of the district attorney in Travis County because she failed to resign.

I predict that no matter what happens with this indictment and possible trial, the only way that Rick Perry will ever see the inside of the White House is as a guest.

There aren't enough far-right homophobes in the USA to put that guy in the White House.

Wait and see.

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP.

While I have no sympathy for that dickhead, I'm confused how promising to veto a bill is "abuse of power." Don't governors and presidents threaten to veto bills...all the time?

They do. I guess that you'd have to read the indictment to totally understand this case.

Perry was trying to force the Travis County DA to resign.

And he may end up behind bars because of that.

It's an abuse of power case.

Is he the guy who owns a ranch called "Niggerheads" or something like that?

My guess is that something like that already makes you unelectable outside of places like Texas, Mississipi or Alabama.

The jury probably had something that we don't otherwise there would be no indictment. There's probably more to this story.

it wasn't promising to veto the bill it was following through on the promise. Keeping a promise is considered political malfeasance to liberals.

There is nothing to this and it won't be any problem for Perry, don't take my word for it listen to captain comb over

Unless he was demonstrably trying to scrap the ethics unit for other than his stated reason, Perry indictment seems pretty sketchy.

Any good story will keep you guessing.

I wouldn't count Perry out...he was invited to.speak at the Bilderberg conference ;)

He's already been carted out and found to have no cross-party appeal. It's for that same reason that I'm dubious about Hillary Clinton's prospects -- she's very unappealing to non-Democrats.

So if President Obama says to the Republicans in congress "I will only pass legislation after specific House members resign", that is okay ?

:lamo

Rick Perry has always been "challenged".

Perry had no chance at the nomination anyway. He wasn't going to win Iowa nor New Hampshire, and without them, he was toast. His appeal doesn't extend far beyond Texas which is why he bombed in 2012.

He can SAY anything he wants.

And he has always been put into office by voters who are also "challenged".

Wow, thats not saying much about Obama voters or Jerry Brown voters.

At least Perry knows how to run a State, build a strong economy and build surplus's.

Not really. He's been returned to office because the other candidates didn't earn as many votes. Let's see how well Wendy Davis does this fall.

Political theater. The indictment is utter BS. They must have convened a collection of idiots for this grand jury. Not a fan of the guy but he'll likely be acquitted but the true intent of the indictment will be successful.

No kidding, that was the entire point of the indictment.

Let's wait and see where Perry is living in 2017.

I predict that he'll never move into the White House.

There aren't enough far-right homophobes in the USA to put Perry in the White House.

Really going out on a limb there, huh? I predict all those running now will also lose. I'll be right in every case, except maybe one. I wonder how Reagan got elected?

Unfortunately, this is the kind of abuse that the democrats inflict in Texas. I believe they shopped the Tom Delay case to several GJ's before they found one willing to indict.

LOL !!

#1 in Job Creation across ALL income levels with one new job being created for every 3 of Texas residents. California is creating 1 new job for every 11 of its residents......Lol

See what Tax breaks for Corporations can do for a State ?

Oh and Texas 4rth and 9th Grade students outscored California's students in every subject across all racial and socio-economic lines. So much for your silly meme.

The people that believe Rick Perry is guilty of a ACTUAL crime are the same people that bought hook line and sinker into the Ferguson Cop killer narrative.

Just sayin..
