Even if he's the president of the USA, who's always on the job, no matter where he is 24/7.

I agree. When im on vacation I dont think about work at all. Im not bugged about work, etc. I tend to believe when a President is "on vacation" its directly the opposite.

No matter where the president of the USA is, his job's right there with him.

He never leaves it behind, no matter where he goes.

Just how many vacation has Obama taken since January 2009?

How does he compare to his two-term predecessor, George W. Bush?

Everyone needs to take a break from time to time, eh?

Even if he's the president of the USA, who's always on the job, no matter where he is 24/7.

He just took one to Hawaii in April. Do you get 2-4 vacations a year? Do you get to take a vacation when you have responsibilities at work? Are you as effective at working between golf holes as you are sitting in your office with your coworkers? He can take a break when he EARNS it. If he cant handle the job, lets get someone in there who can.

I wish he would take a 2 1/2 year vacation.

Why do I suspect that you feel completely differently then there is an (R) behind the President's name....LOL

Really?

Do you work a 9-5 job? At the end of the day, do you have the opportunity to go do what you want? You pretty much do, huh? So - if you had the money to do so and that's what you really wanted to do when you're off at five in the afternoon, would you go golfing? Would you do so more than once a week? Maybe. Some people do...

...and when they do so, that's not a vacation - that's something they're doing AFTER WORKING HOURS.

Of course the president is on the job 24/7 no matter where he's at, even on vacation - and most of us retired military understand this. When crap hits the fan, we're called in, we've gotta go. But that doesn't stop us from going golfing after working hours if there's no sudden emergency that requires our immediate attention.

So relax. Golf is not a vacation - it's a hobby that one does after working hours.

All Presidents takes lots of time off - if you can even call it off, most of them are probably closer to working vacations. Obama's predecessor was on vacation at least twice as much according to the article. I don't begrudge any of them a single minute of it. It's got to be an uber stressful job. I do not want an overly stressed person driving the boat.

I'm pretty sure Obama has played more golf this year than Tiger Woods.

We all know the Libbos weren't nearly as understanding when Bush was president.

Of course....there were Dems that complained about Bush's vacations as well. I just think its silly to complain about a President taking time off. There is plenty of other stuff to complain about. This type of stuff is just petty.

In which case, all you've done is sink to their level. Congratulations.

But Boooooooshhh!

Oh, and you were just understanding hell, huh? :lamo

I never had a problem with Bush's vacations. As long as the work gets done, that is the only thing that matters to me, not where he is at the moment.

I don't begrudge anyone vacation time, particularly when they are in high-pressured jobs. When I was working, I made sure I took every last day I was entitled to take and whenever anyone commented on it - I was entitled to a lot of vacation time - I simple told them not to be jealous or stupid and worry about their own vacation and make sure they take all of it because nobody gives you a medal for sacrificing your mental and physical health.

That said, I think it's a little disingenuous to compare Bush vacations to Obama's in that if I'm not mistaken Bush took all of his vacation time either at his home in Texas or at his family's compound in Maine. Has Obama spent a day at his home in Chicago since he entered the White House? And what is with the need of liberals to hob-knob with the wealthy when they vacation? The Clinton's leeched off the well to do in Martha's Vineyard too, didn't they?

Anyway, as has been mentioned already, most every conservative I know believes your country would be much better off if Obama took the next 2 and a half years off vacationing and on the golf course.

Yup, just as understanding! LMAO

Delinquent in his leadership ( on vacation for a large part of his first term, reading "My pet goat" to elementary children while the country was under attack, failing to protect our country from national disasters even though warned that the levees would break, etc etc etc).

and that won't happen since congress is also on vacation for the entire month of august.

Well, our Liberal government here in Ontario, Canada prorogued Provincial Parliament in mid-July for the "summer recess", with a resumption of Parliament scheduled for late October. Pikers in Washington are only taking a month.

He not working when he IS on the job. [Stating the obvious]

Hey CJ, why does where matter? Surely not for cost. Lodging cost has to be the smallest component of the cost of a presidential vacation.
I really don't see where as much of an issue to be honest.

That aside I agree. Time away from work is necessary. People who don't take vacations simply aren't as productive. My employer demands that we take all the vacation we have coming to us every year. It's possible to roll over unused vacation but it's really frowned on.

Good evening Gaius,

I suppose it really doesn't matter, in the big scheme of things. I just think that it's easier to set up the "Crawford" White House for frequent home visits and the Secret Service would have an easier time with going to the same place all the time. But people are entitled to enjoy their time away however they choose.

Personally, I'm pretty much a home-body like President Bush seems to be - I think lots of conservatives are much the same way. Some may consider that unadventurous, but I just consider it being comfortable with what I know and enjoy.

That's because there are so many things that need to be tackled that they need to get back here so they don't get done! It's not officially not getting done unless they're at work. They care about us, you see!

Evening CJ.

You and me both. Now that my missus and I are both on the far side of 50 we tend to stay home a lot more. Prefer to have a couple of close friends or family drop by on weekends than go somewhere. Still lots of places in the world the world I want to see but for the time being I'm content going to Indianapolis every couple of months to see my daughter.
