[RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194:238]

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

a sad day he was a funny man. he could play multiple roles.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Let's not jump to conclusions here, it's not CONFIRMED that he committed suicide.

He died of not being able to breath. Who the hell kills him/herself that way?

I don't know how people can hang themselves either.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Not hanging?

either one is possible.

a good friend of mine hung himself out of the blue. really depressed people do really strange things.
they are not rational

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Wikipedia says that he was depressed recently, can anyone confirm? For some reason, now Google isn't being responsive when I try and search something.

I believe he was bipolar. That is a daily battle.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

I thought his humor was good. But not very wide ranging. It was basically the same character. But his serious roles really showed his depth IMO. When he was in a serious role, his characters seemed really genuine and believable.

To clarify when I say serious role I'm talking Good Will Hunting and also Good Morning Vietnam. Even though in the later movie his character was funny he was playing the role of another real person and the humor I think was enhanced by the serious side of the character he played. He definitely could deliver.

Sucks to see him gone.

What a monumental loss. His talent was unending. His scene in Good Will Hunting on the park bench with Damon. EPIC.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Very little has made me laugh harder than his golf bit! Had tears pouring from my eyes watching that bit. World is definitely a bit less funny today.

Re: Robin Williams DEAD, Comedian, Actor

I can't think of another actor or comic that is as quick on his feet like Robin was.

His are very big clown shoes to fill.

Re: Robin Williams DEAD, Comedian, Actor

I liked Robin Williams. OP should have made this an RIP thread.

re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Aside from his politics, I have been a Robin Williams fan since his Mork and Mindy days. He was a great comedian and actor and he did some great work with the USO. Rest in peace. I hate to see you go. Thanks for all the laughs.

RIP Robin Williams

Really sorry to hear the news. He was a gifted man and had been open about his struggle with alcohol and cocaine use. But just last month it was reported that he entered a clinic to "fine tune his sobriety" and depression.

According to the reports I've read toxicology tests will be performed tomorrow.

He sure could make me laugh. Rest in peace Mr. Williams.

Re: Robin Williams DEAD, Comedian, Actor

Shocking and sad.

He had great talent in acting and comedy.

I guess if one followed him, they'd be more aware of the previous (current?) substance abuse and not be as surprised. The stresses of fame often exacts a high price.

Just saw this a couple of minutes ago.

I'm stunned, quite frankly. The guy's been such a constant entertainment industry fixture over the years that I never imagined something like this could happen to him.

I know. I, too, watched him as Mork when I was a little girl. Such a loss.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

The fact his show got cancelled back in May due to the particularly stringent ratings standards of CBS probably did not help a struggling alcoholic on the brink of bankruptcy from two divorces.

RIP Robin Williams

One of the greatest comedic minds of all time.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Its hard to exaggerate about Robin Williams. One of the few people that "genius" applies. He could make you laugh till you cried while talking about nothing at all.

I am so, so sad about this. :(

My favorite:

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Great actor, special talent, with a heart of gold. However...

Robin had a long history of depression and drug abuse. Also he was having money problems due to expensive divorces and other issues. Apparently relapsed recently after 20 years of sobriety too.

Source--my wife.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Not knowing the reason (though a publicist apparently said he was battling severe depression lately), I am guessing he ended it for a similar reason to Hunter S. Thompson...he just had no great interest in growing old.

My experience has been that smart people that like to party (like the above two) despise growing old...the removal of fun, youth and physical freedom is just too depressing.

But, that is just a guess obviously.

Either way, to me, he personified 'comedic brilliance'. His IQ must have been huge. And he seemed like a very decent guy.

I hope he is happier now.

Wow! Didn't expect to be reading this today.

The guy was a riot and managed to have a pretty long career by Hollywood standards. Sorry to hear that he's gone.

I'm saddened by it, but really not surprised. It seems that oftentimes, really good comedians also have a really serious problem with depression in their real lives. It's almost as if their personal life and public life are two extreme sides of the same coin, and I figure that's why we often seem to see so many gifted comedians who are drug addicts. They are probably trying to self-medicate the cause of their pain. Williams was one of the finest in his class, if not THE finest. So very sad to see him go.

This just broke my heart.

Another one lost to a fire a little too bright. Hope you're cracking wise in the great beyond, Mr. Williams. Wish there was more we could have done for you here on this little rock. Adios.
