U.S. economy bounces back sharply

I find it quite interesting how little so many here know about civics and how Congress works. Prior to the Democrats taking control of Congress, Bush took over from the Clinton recession, had 9/11 and still grew the economy 4.4 trillion dollars, created 9 million jobs, and had 5 straight months of job creation. Bush added 4.9 trillion dollars to the debt.

Democrats took control of the Congress, Obama has created 4 million jobs in 6 years, has stagnant economic growth, 7 trillion added to the debt, and record numbers of discouraged, workers and part time employees.

You see, actual facts just show how partisan you really are.

Well I'm trying to learn how our system works.

So let's see if I understand this correctly...

When a republican is president and the economy is good, then that is the result of the president. But when a republican is president and the economy is bad, that is the result of congress.

OK, I see how it works now. You learned in your Jr. High civics class that you should make up the rules to fit your partisanship.

No, you don't get it and that is probably because you don't want to get it and have your own biases. The reality is the numbers, the reality is basic civics that Bush had a Democrat Congress his last two years and Congress makes the laws and controls the purse strings. Let me see if I have it right, you blame Bush for the recession and Bush had a Democrat Congress and now you blame Republicans because they control the House?

You didn't learn a thing in Junior high civics and today don't seem to have the ability to even do basic research of the non partisan sites like bea.gov, bls.gov, Treasury data. I am waiting for you to give us the economic results of Obama's that are better than Bush's?

You do realize that even though Bush had a Dem congress, he STILL had to put his STAMP on the bills right? Sorry, but Bush is just as much to blame for that as congress because Bush had the power of the VETO and COULD have used it. You're giving him a free pass because he is a Republican president.

CNN reported:

New data released Wednesday show the U.S. economy bounced back in the spring, growing at a 4% annual pace in the second quarter. That was even better than the forecast of 3% growth, according to a consensus of economists surveyed by CNNMoney.

After terrible start to the year, the U.S. economy bounces back - Jul. 30, 2014

The full GDP report can be found at: http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/2014/pdf/gdp2q14_adv.pdf

August is always that miracle month when magic happens just before elections.

Yeah, 0.1% is like asking for a glass of water and getting a few drops. Most people would never go back to place that treated them like that. The worst part about this administration is, they act like they've done something great, when they are doing a horrible job.

Compared to where we were in 2008, we are getting there. I'm a half glass full person.

What bills? What bills did the Democrat Congress submit that would have helped prevent the recession? Democrats were more focused on regaining the WH than doing their job.

Getting where? Why did it take 7 years to get back to the employment numbers of December 2007? Why did it take 7 trillion added to the debt to get us there? What is it going to take for people like you to realize Obama has made a fool out of you?

What does that have to do with the fact that all the bills passed had to be signed by Bush during that timeframe and COULD HAVE BEEN VETOED by him? Please tell us oh partisan one.

Exactly right, and the Republicans were more focused on trying to keep it, which is why no one saw the recession coming or did anything to stop it. Since then, Congress has become even more hyper partisan than it was then, which doesn't bode will for the future of this nation.

Congress is dysfunctional. The president is not a good leader. The federal government is being poorly run. The next couple of elections are not likely to change much of anything.

But, maybe. Voters are bound to get sick and tired of the status quo sooner or later.

Bush couldn't sign any bills that weren't passed or started by Congress. Bush submitted Financial reform that went no where. He submitted a budget that wasn't passed. Democrats knew that they had people like you who would blame Bush for the economic results and still to this day do the same thing. Again, what bills did the Democrats propose that Bush wouldn't sign?

You'll have to show me where I blame ONLY Bush for the economic results. I have criticized BOTH parties (something you hardly do and when you do the criticism is only that they worked with the left) and criticized BOTH Obama, Bush, and the congresses under them. So anymore comments you want to post as lies? I have the quotes to back me up on myself, which is something you never do.

Leadership is non existent today and that is what happens when you have a Community agitator who only knows how to divide, not lead. We need someone with Reagan's leadership skills today taking a positive message to the American people on the greatness of this country and promoting a positive agenda. No one can tell me Obama has had a positive message not when he want to penalize wealth creation and when he tries to make a federal govt. create equal outcome.

Substance-free talking-point twaddle.

You mean the real Reagan who presided over the bailouts of the S and L and over Iran Contra, or the Reagan of legend who single handedly brought down the Soviet Union?

Even the real Reagan was a more effective leader than the current POTUS or his predecessor, but let's be careful who we deify.

this isn't about you, this is about those in this forum who with ever post blame Bush and ignore Obama results. Obviously you pick and choose which of my posts you want to respond to. I blamed Republicans many times in this forum including Bush for his involvement in the financial crisis. Stop with the partisan bs and accept the reality that Obama is a total and dismal incompetent and is indeed transforming this country into the model he is familiar with, massive govt. with massive dependence just like Europe.

So by your logic, the republican led house is the reason why s*** is not getting done.

Hey glad we are on the same page :rock

No, I mean the Reagan that gave us the pro growth stimulus that won 49 states. His second term wasn't a good one but he laid the ground work for a strong economy that lasted for decades. He took his economic message to the people, got his tax cuts passed with opposition from Tip O'Neil and the Democrat House and that led to the 17 million jobs created, 60% growth in Federal Income Tax revenue, and a doubling of GDP.

Reagan was damaged badly by the assassination attempt and the onset of Alzheimers but he had already laid the groundwork for the strong economic growth and revitalization of the U.S. as a leader in the world.

Then why did you include ME in the bolded? Why is it always when you are confronted with your lying comments you always post more comments that are lies to cover up your first one?

Fact is you made yet another one of your partisan comments that were lies, got called on it, and now post more comments that are lies. Why can't you just admit and say "Gee, I made a mistake sorry I shouldn't have included you in that comment".

I'm not the one spouting partisan BS since I blame BOTH sides while you are a GOP apologist.

When you post in a public forum you post to those in this forum who are responding and you are included. You call what I do or say as lies, that is partisan bs backed by nothing other than your rhetoric. I have no interest in going back over your 15,000 posts to find the partisan ones and those attacking GW Bush. I stand by my comments. Stop diverting and address the thread topic.

Here is what Reagan generated and what you ignore, 17 million jobs, doubling of GDP, recovery from a double dip, 60% increase in Federal Income tax revenue after cutting income taxes three years in a row, 1.7 trillion added to the debt. That is substance that you want to ignore. Compare that to Obama's results 5 years after the end of a recession? Obama had -2.1% GDP growth and then 4% GDP growth making the annual growth 1.9%. That a quality rebound in your world?

Hey glad we are on the same page :rock

Republicans took the House in January 2011, interesting that the results are better now than they were when Obama controlled both houses. Doesn't appear we are on the same page at all.

When you quote me and then respond saying people like ME, that is including me. What part of that do you understand? Your backpeddling shows how dishonest your comments really are. You have no interest in going back over my posts because you will find I have criticized BOTH sides. A 5 min search shows you are not only posting lying comments it shows how dishonest your posts are but how lazy your posting really is. If you don't want me calling you out on your lying comments, stop making them. Otherwise go pound sand.

I pound sand daily in this forum with people whose minds you are never going to change even when posting data. Obama has a cult following and there was a time that you were part of that cult. Glad to see you come to your senses. Now stop making this personal, stick to the topic.
