Raven ray Rice suspended 2 games

He's clearly guilty of felony battery, at least.

If she hit him first he has the right to defend himself. Just because he knocked her the hell out doesn't affect anything. She shouldn't have started a fight with someone she wasn't capable of beating.

why would I defend the indefensible ?

The rest of your editorializing - ,sure fine - but the league rules were 2 games. Retroactive punishment is unconstitutional in the penal system but not here.

so go with 6 games as CURRENT POLICY..but why do you think even 6 games wasn't substantial enough? leaving you food for thought.

bear in mind she married him afterwards.
bear in mind he was doing anti-bullying outreach
bear in mind this really doesn't help the NFL. or Rice. or her.
now you got an unemployed young couple who apologized together , and worked it out through counseling to get married.

where is anything sane here?

The unemployed young couple has millions of dollars, so I am really not worried about their employment status.

Well the woman struck first and had it coming, imho. The days of women being allowed to hit men is more or less ending. The law needs to adjust to that fact.

I'm just going to take that as a joke, or you didn't see the tape. I'll have to look at it again, seems he pushed her and she stepped toward him, all this in the elevator, and he punched her in the face hard enough to knock her out cold for a few minutes.

Just to put in perspective how wrong you are, the Ravens just terminated his contract and there is not a team in the league that will touch him because of his actions. That's how far off your opinion is.

She posed no threat to him.

It's like you didn't even watch the video.

Alot of bullies get quite a surprise when it actually does work just like that.

She's a bully, physically, against him? Enough.

You're assuming she started it. Do you have evidence of that?

Watch the video before you embarrass yourself here.

In the video if you watch closely it looks like they are arguing and at .25 he spits on her first, she elbows or smacks him in response, then he smacks her and backs up, and then when she goes after him he knocks her out. Both were instigating things but he was in the wrong imo.

No she didn't and no she didn't.

No? I haven't seen the video in a long time, but I seem to recall she struck first. Oh well. If what you say is true I withdraw my comment.

I was not speaking of that specific instance, but for many bullies in general.

Umm, the video just got released today.

The video from inside the elevator was released today. Watch it.

Also, she is maybe 100lbs soaking wet, he is 218 lbs of solid muscle. She was no threat to him ever AND he was the instigator.

Meanwhile, Florida State University is just now getting round to investigating the rape allegations against Winston (after Winston won the Heisman and after FSU won the national championship). Is there a connection to the wink and nod coddling that college athletes get regarding illegal behavior and the thuggish behavior we are seeing more of among professional athletes? I think there is. While Rice got what he deserved I would submit that the buck doesn't stop there, nor with the NFL. Changes must be made a lower levels, perhaps even high school.

Ok 1 less insanity

Well, also it doesn't matter if she married him or not, at least not in a criminal sense.

But look at it this way: She was engaged to a multi-millionaire at the time. Even if she hated him it would be smarter to go through with the marriage and THEN divorce him. :)

Even if she "instigated", who cares? Where's the need to use deadly force?

There is no telling what started it since clearly something was wrong before they entered the elevator. From what I saw in the video she pushed him even before they entered the elevator, and after they entered he spit on her, which lead to her striking him, charging and getting knocked out.

it matters to file charges no? I get the cynicism - they didn't have to appear together and apologiza at a news conference though if that was the motivation.
Rice didn't have to do out-reach
Didn't have to do counseling
we're never privy to what couples think, but simply going back and doing this because of Media Outrage, is craven by the Ravens
