Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Report

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Well, Obama had better close the deal quick.

With what he's doing to the economy, in a few years $4 Million won't buy a loaf of bread.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

It's like I'm on a Celebrity Gossip discussion board.

The only point I get out of this is, Obama is not in touch with the middle class like his supporters like to believe he is. He is every bit the wealthy, elitist, out of touch politician that his supporters claim the republicans are.

Being wealthy doesn't put you out of touch with the middle class. And the guy is in no way elitist.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

A rich guy wants to buy a slick house in the desert. Why is that news and why does anybody care?

This is why.

Obama lambasted Romney for being rich. Spending $4.25 million on a home is being rich I would say, a 1 percenter.

What a hypocrite.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Would YOU want to move back to Chicago??? People are literally dying on his porch steps (OK...the sidewalk).

Frankly...I am not sure the Secret Service would even ALLOW him to move back there.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Having Obama out of the White House and away from the authority to screw over America is enough for me. I could care less about what happens to him once he's out of the Government.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Is it possible that these "speaking engagements," ex-presidents make a killing on, are merely deferred bribes?

"I will gladly pay you next Tuesday for a hamburger today."

Considering that Presidents only get paid..what was it..250k/yr? Yeah...I'd bet its something like this.

The golfing climate will be a lot better there too and the climate in general will be better compared to the Windy city.

So there is a politician somewhere that doesn't lambaste opponents or prove to be a hypocrite?

Right...no doubt. Im sure raining bullets is a weather forecast no one wants to hear.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Lots of poor and middle class people ascended to our highest office. Lots of silver spoon babies, too!

When was the last president someone who become president while being poor or middle class?

I don't know, Lincoln,Grant, Eisenhower?

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

I don't know, Lincoln,Grant, Eisenhower?

So you had to go back at least a 140 some odd years to find someone who became president present while being poor or middle class.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Oh no problem. I just think he should divide his fortune up among the 'po as he preaches to the rest of us. Do as I say, not as I do. Why doesn't he set an example?

Except he doesn't do that. Why do conservatives continue to lie about what the man says? There's plenty of reasons to criticize Obama without making **** up.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

This entire thread is 17 pages of hackish BS.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Seventeen pages of arguing about a president's plans to buy a house towards the end of his second term. You have got to be ****ing kidding me.

Edit: Dammit Kobie!

You should read all the posts. The twists and turns in this thread are funny. Everything was discussed, from Ws on keyboards to pot to fancy Dallas neighborhoods to the race card. I don't think anyone argued about Obama buying a house (which turns out not to be true anyway, considering it came from an anonymous source who got it secondhand from his sister's husband's third cousin's ex-girlfriend's petsitter).

Well, Ike wasn't that long ago, what's your real point? You want to know why we don't let homeless people become president or what.

True enough. Was that because the story was debunked, or what?

Cardinal's post #132 says it all. I wish I knew how to quote someone's post but I don't.

The WH is denying it, and the sources are suspicious at best.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

I think The Rent Is Too Damn High guy would make a killer President. Especially if he had the Pants on the Ground guy as his VP. I think they were both homeless not long ago.

a.) liberals hate wealthy people.

b.) liberals want to divide the wealth of rich people up among the 'po people.

c.) Obama be a liberal.

d.) hence, it stands to reason he wants to share the wealth (rich people's wealth) with 'po people.

It's called socialism...a precursor to communism.

a.) liberals hate wealthy people.

No, they don't.

b.) liberals want to divide the wealth of rich people up among the 'po people.

No, they don't. Your use of ebonics as a subtle dog whistle is adorable.

c.) Obama be a liberal.

Ehhh ... in some ways. In some ways, he isn't.

d.) hence, it stands to reason he wants to share the wealth (rich people's wealth) with 'po people.

It's called socialism...a precursor to communism.

It stands to reason that you don't know what the **** you're talking about.

The article said the Obama's were set to buy a house in the Times headline and "reportedly poised" to do so in the article. That doesn't prove the RUMOR untrue.
