I think the bigger problem in a lot of these situations is the lack of US follow through when the job is done. After the Soviets left Afghanistan, we simply left the people to their own fate. With Saddam, we backed him in his war with Iran, but when he found himself in debt because of the conflict, we decided to not assist him with it, thus leading to the first Gulf War.

You don't realise the arrogance of your comment, or what the republic of Afghanistan looked like before SU involvement there.

Not sure what is arrogant about the fact that we get involve in a lot of these conflicts, then forget about these places until they drag us back in.

The notion that people can't determine their own direction without almighty gods (sorry, the US's) guiding hand.

Modern terrorism began in Munich in 1972 with the murders of the Israeli athletes. Following that there were hijackings, the kidnapping of Americans, airports sprayed with bullets, and indiscriminate killings throughout the world. Even the WTC was attacked during Clinton's term. Something had to be done but, unfortunately, only half steps were taken, then the winnings abandoned,

Are their leaders oppointed by and act oit based out on divine guidance ?

Are their leaders Priest ? Clergy ? Are they representitives of a religious doctrine or are they elected ?

Its also a nationality. There are actually Jews who are Christians.
