Mr. Vargas was detained at a Border Patrol checkpoint in the airport of this city in the Rio Grande Valley before he was to board a flight to Houston, on his way to Los Angeles. In a terse statement, Department of Homeland Security officials said they had released Mr. Vargas because he had no prior immigration or criminal record. They said their focus was on deporting immigrants who posed security threats.

Once again, people doing their job are seen as the bad guy. I wonder why he still isn't "documented" since he's been living here 20+ years?

I take issue with his argument that 11 million trespassers into our country pose no threat. They are a huge social threat.

We should just disband the Border Patrol........all they are doing at this point is changing diapers......just invite the whole world to come in.........we have limitless resources.

I'm serious with my question. If one is here illegally for 20+ yrs, why can't they become a legal citizen? Someone enlighten me. It's like this journalist is acting like a martyr
