California Split Into Six New States?

Exactly, and the idea of breaking California into two states has been around for as long as I can remember. If the dividing line put LA and SF into one state, and the area north of the Tehapis and east of the Coast range into another, we'd have one more red state, so the Senate would gain two Republicans.

Oh, and the wacky idea of spending a hundred billion or so on a high speed rail system would no doubt go away finally.

The high speed rail would just loop around SF and LA pointlessly. You ignore that, like all government boondoggles, the price of the project IS the purpose for the project. ;)

You could combine all of Bush's into one and it's still not as goofy as Obama's 57 states. That was an all-timer.

I dunno. Bush was pretty good at brain-farts. In fact, he was the King.

"The same folks that are bombing innocent people in Iraq were the ones who attacked us in America on September the 11th." --Washington, D.C., July 12, 2007

"I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees." --on "Good Morning America," Sept. 1, 2005, six days after repeated warnings from experts about the scope of damage expected from Hurricane Katrina

"They misunderestimated me." --Bentonville, Ark., Nov. 6, 2000

"This is an impressive crowd -- the haves and the have mores. Some people call you the elite -- I call you my base." --at the 2000 Al Smith dinner

"Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter." --in parting words to world leaders at his final G-8 Summit, punching the air and grinning widely as those present looked on in shock, Rusutsu, Japan, July 10, 2008

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." --Washington, D.C., Sept. 13, 2001

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority." --Washington, D.C., March 13, 2002

I could do this all day......................... :lamo

So, Sacramento actually wants to bankrupt the State of California? I hadn't thought of that. I just thought they were a bunch of idiots.

I didn't say they WANT to bankrupt the state, they just want an expensive project that will employ a lot of people for many years and assume they can just scrape a few more dollars out of the taxpayer's wallet to cover it.

Oh, I see.

I think the taxpayers' wallets are pretty much tapped out, but if they want expensive projects they could look at our deteriorating highways, our desperate need to bring in and store more water, our leves that were built during the gold rush, our bridges, our overcrowded schools... there is so much to do, there is no end to it.

They could start by keeping the firefighters on after the fire season is over to clear brush and make fire breaks for the next season.

They could build a canal or a tunnel to bring water from the rain soaked north east to the parched San Joaquin Valley.

almost anything but building a train to nowhere that no one will ride.

OK, end of rant about California and its political ills.

Government: We can't afford all this infrastructure, so we are going to build more infrastructure.

CA needs to secede from the Union. Then we could print our own money and keep spending. Hooray!

I hope that, when they start carving, most of it falls into the ocean.

Just kidding!!!! ;)

Where's the conflict between the two. You consider national borders to be an act of nature or arbitrarily drawn by men.

I suspect that there is no conflict between the two from either you or me. I think they are boundaries which are agreed upon and only to that extent are they arbitrary. Since they are in place, they are both sovereign within their own domain. "Good fences make good neighbors". I read that somewhere too.

Yet another person who can't differentiate between a slip of the tongue and actually not knowing something. The professional Obama Haters Brigade has gotten a lot of mileage off of nothing.

The difference between Bush and Obama is not in the mistakes they make, not in the quantity or even content...it is in the way the two handle it. Bush recognized it and played it off...often got applause for his affable way of joking about being tongue tied. Obama even makes excuses as to why he made the mistake.

Obama is a rock star...with a teleprompter and speech writers.

Its not that he misstated the number of states, its that there are 57 islamic states and this is what he was thinking about.

Oh dear lord!

The bureaucracy must expand to support the expanding bureaucracy.

Divided they stand? Billionaire in push to carve up California into six states | Fox News

If they could do seven rather than just six it would make Obama's comment about visiting all 57 states semi-correct...retroactively....:lamo

they have neeed to divide that state for a while, the southern end of the state is heavily hispanic dominated, and leans more to the right than northern cali.nortern cali is heavily liberal,as is coastal california, central california is extremely conservative, and literally seems more like texas than cali, because it is populated mostly by families and descendants who escaped texas during the dustbowl.the very northern tip of cali should just be annexed into oregon.

so you would have northern california, southern california, some new name for coastal california, and central california.the states population isnt too big, texas has a fairly high population as well, but california is divided among regions, and the coastal residents usually control the elections, which has been an issue going back a long time.heck people have argued for northern and southern cali being two states since the state was created.

If this did happen, wouldn't each individual area still have to be admitted as a state? What if 5 areas were admitted but not the 6th, then what?

Oh, god, people still actually believe that?

snopes.com: Barack Obama and 57 States

Of course they do.
People believe all sorts of crazy things. Obama is a Muslim. The government was behind the attack on the WTC. The moon landing was faked. The scientific organizations are telling the government that global warming is real in order to keep the research dollars flowing. George Bush was a conservative. The world is flat. Iraq really did have those WMD when we invaded. The US won the war in Vietnam.

All sorts of crazy things.

Quite a few people believe what they want to believe, facts, truths, whatever do not get into their way. Some of it is understandable, believing that the CIA or someone on the gassy knoll shot JFK or even LBJ was behind the killing. It was very hard for people to believe a lone gunman could accomplish such a feat. There just had to be more behind it, a communist conspiracy, the mob, something more. One man just can't kill the president. So much shock and unbelief that something like that could actually happen. JFK conspiracies are understandable.

But the ones you mentioned, no way. Those people have gone off the deep end and no facts, truths, reason, common sense or anything else will change their beliefs.

1. I doubt that will happen.
and more importantly
2. Your math is off.

When you remove one State you have 49. Adding 7 to that would just make it 56.
You would have to break it up into 8 parts to achieve the 57 gaff.

So now it appears you have your own gaff to use in comparison to Obama's.

If L.A. County, San Francisco and Marin County could be expelled from California, California wouldn't be so bad as it is today.

Draper did some research, he's using the San Gabriel River as the dividing line from eastern and western L.A County. West of the San Gabriel River would be part of West California while San Berdo, Riverside, Imperial, Orange and San Diego counties become South California. South California gets all of the major military bases, guns, and American patriots. Libs already have to keep a low profile in these counties except for Imperial County.

It would make it real difficult for illegal aliens to make their way through South California to West California which will obviously become a sanctuary state.

I don't know how West California can survive when it gets most of America's illegal aliens and 50% of the West Californians will be legally classified as being illiterate of functional illiterates and the majority unable to speak English.

The Silicon Valley state will be completely dependent on Microsoft.

Lets see, South California, Central California, Jefferson states will definitely be red states.

West California will definitely be blue because they will be overpopulated with stupid people.
